I just LOVE the sound when Gibbons sing. It's so incredible.
Isn't it? They are my daughter's favorite species of monkey. She's got several recordings of their "singing" as ring tones on her phone.
Just the other day my daughter played each one and they all are different. You don't notice by watching them, but you do when you listen to the individual voice recordings. It makes you wonder what they are saying to each other. ☺️
Yes they are beautiful to hear and observe in the right circumstances. But as this and the previous episode so vividly shows, they are nearly as dangerous to each other and humans as Chimpanzees are. If they don't fear humans they have savagely long canines and are so fast moving real damage can result. And remember what their lovely singing is for: "This is my territory! We are big and strong so beware!"
I like the narrators voice on this show
Ralf Little 😊
He’s excellent isn’t he.
All they need to chase away the wild Gibbons who are attacking and harassing the caged Gibbons who are being rehabilitated, are pepper ball guns. They are air powered and shoot little balls of pepper spray that burst on impact. A couple of experiences with those and they'll likely keep their distance. If by chance it isn't enough, they can pair it with electric fencing all around the cages. They HATE the electric fences. Both are non-lethal and won't hurt them, but will make them uncomfortable enough to be motivated to stay away.
Maybe they need to tranquilize the wild female gibbon and keep her and the other wild gibbons off to themselves in another part of the park so that they cannot get back to the ones in the cages otherwise more could be in danger. People have caused too much damage to the planet, the animals and the environment, so when these things happen it is the people who should be held responsible for the problems.
Agreed!!
Wow, that wild female is crazy.
And that's the problem Freda.
Everytime humans put their hands on anything it comes out in even worse shape.
Humans have a way of destroying everything touched by their hands.
For those particular gibbons, being in the enclosure is a two sided coin. On the one side you have them at ready access to monitor and treat any problems to keep them in healthy form, while planning the move for them. On the other side, they are sitting ducks for that rogue female and her troop.
You make valid points, but I feel it just isn't prudent for more human interaction.
This is a conundrum that will take an "aha! moment"
I trust Dr. Cronin though. If anything, like what you suggest, can be done she will handle it properly.
We certainly need more like her group in this world, don't you agree?
@@lady4vols
She's trying to exert her status in the hierarchy. To that female there is no room for strangers. That she was a captive, then released monkey gives her an edge, and I would say she has zero tolerance for anybody she seems an interloper.
She has no fear of humans, and is adamant about getting to and eliminating those unwelcome strangers.
She's not really crazy per se, but I'd making an attempt to keep her troop in order.
I found her to be scary myself. And when I saw Dr. Cronin jump back I knew that the wild female was a formidable threat.
I find them fascinating, and wish people would let them be the beautiful wild animals they were born to be.
They have a valuable reason to be in this earth, and it's a shame that their environment is steadily ceasing to be their own.
@@BabyMonkeyDefender she’s an ape, not a monkey. Gibbons are known as “lesser apes.”
Since first hearing the Gibbon song I can't get enough!!! Mesmerizing& haunting😍
Yes it's definitely both!
That female Gibbon is scary as heck.
why not use water against the wild gibbons?
Ikr
In the park at Dorset they use CO2 fire extinguisher.
I'm not sure how a water hose could be hooked up since this is kind of out in the middle of nowhere! Lol, I'm sure a squirt bottle wouldn't be quite big enough!😂
What an exciting life Alison has had. She’s so smart and beautiful.
how to make all members happy travel is a treat prime apes hate favoritism;)
@@rudolfsanchez9855 🤔wth does that mean in regards to what a great life Allison has lived, not to mention her beauty🤷♀️
@@ritamccomas9271 it's called making a comment. Sharing her thoughts. Something everyone has the right to do
@@ritamccomas9271 I didn't see anything wrong with her comment Allison is beautiful and has had a great life with the exception of loosing her husband..Do you not compliment anyone?
Never heard Dr. John raise his voice before. He must have been very angry .
Why not dart the wild female and her family and move them to a location she wouldn't be able to find her way back to the sanctuary?
It would be very difficult to dart and move an entire family. Plus, all that without stressing them out.
@@laurenelizabeth8585 thank you for answering my question.
@@laurenelizabeth8585 you're right. Moves can sometimes take months and months of planning before any primate is moved and released. Food source needs to be checked for one thing, and making sure no other gibbons are in an area that could be suitable for a gibbon release, there are many things to plan and check out.
What a great video this is! Shew, I never dreamed of a gibbon to be so fierce and, well, mean! My heart was racing while the wild gibbon was right where Dr Lewis was examining the other female, wow! Not sure what they're going to do with this situation! Dr Lewis was incredible, as he always was....
Batman!😝!🙉!!!
Should have named his mate Robin
This might be a dumb question but can people visit Dao Tien?
I want to know also
I've answered twice and neither comment is uploading. Yes, you can visit dao tien primate park
To see a Gibbon moving gracefully (Like in the intro) and effortlessly in it's environment is something to behold. No other land animal can do what it does. It's so amazing to watch!
Very interesting.... many similar species to those that I film in Thailand. I hope to be able to pay a visit to Dao Tien sometime.
I bet John LOVES this.What a privilege.❤
Unfortunately, Dr Lewis passed away in 2020 from pancreatic cancer. Such a great loss for Monkey World.
The fact that they have named this pair of Slow Loris Batman and Hope is just adorable. They should name one of the babies Robin Or Selina Kyle and the other one Gordon (either Jim or Barbara) or Rachel (for Rachel Dawes) depending if they are boys or girls.
Is gibbon violence very common? I thought they resolved most territorial disputes via their songs?
Please explain how a wild gibbon can attack and kill a caged one.
I had the same question but if you notice the captive gibbon goes right up to the attacking wild gibbon and fights back as opposed to hiding deeper in the cage which is what we all think it should do.
They stick their arms out and inside. You can kill an animal by shredding their limbs.
Long arms
Did you see how the wild female lept to the exact right spot on the top of the cage and grabbed the sedated female's wrist almost faster than the human eye can see??? That's how.....she can then pull their arm outside the mesh and just rip that arm apart or bite any other part of the body up against the cage without the other animal even being able to defend themselves because they're stuck behind a fence.
I didn't realize how dangerous these gibbons are.
Neither did I! I'm a bit shocked as I always pictured gibbons to be a bit more friendly, not welcoming, just not as wicked to strangers! Lol! Shew, my heart was racing when that wild female jumped on that enclosure!
Wow who would of thought those adorable cute gibbons could be so vicious and mean lol. She was not a happy camper. She was gonna whip every gibbon in those cages butts. So sad she actually killed 1. Glad they got them out of there. Those loris are so cute. I can understand why people want them as pets, I just wish they would realize how traumatic it is for them to be taken away from their families.
Don't understand why they didn't dart the monkey instead of hitting it with net
How is a wild Gibbon getting to the others through the cage??
Go watch the part where the sedated gibbon starts coming back around. You'll see the break in that area that isn't closed off by the chain links. There's just enough of a break in that to enable her to get down in there.
How amazing
R.I.P. Dr. John Lewis.
Me too! Isn't he great!
I need to download the gibbons songs 🎵 and have my alarm ⏰ wake me every morning with the beautiful songs.🤗🤗🤗
Allison was the first one I noticed yelling at the invading gibbon and that's when the wild female finally got the message. Way to go Allison.
I wonder do they have problems with Gibbon and Laurus confrontations..
Maby they can put another layer of wire 10 cm above te cage so the wild gibbons cannot tutch the gibbons inside.
pure evilbonic
Why allow the wild ones access to the caged ones!!
Apparently, the wild ones refuse to open the ‘cease and desist’ orders that have been sent!
They can reach through the cages.
Not intentional for the wild gibbon to have access to any of the gibbons. She is downright wicked! Lol!
6:27 now that was impressive
i dot see prpblem monkey rleased and survived too well;)
surprised no problems of snakes in trees
@@rudolfsanchez9855 oh, I'm sure snakes are there in the trees somewhere! Makes me shudder as I am deathly afraid of snakes! Doesn't matter what kind or how little or big and long, they all petrifying me!😳
How do the wild ones get into the cages to injure the other gibbons ?
Their not. She is injuring the Gibbons while they are inside their bedrooms. She attacks them through the bedrooms metal wiring
@@jeannettethorsby7085 may I ask how you found out this information? I'm about to rewatch the video to see if I missed anyone stating this is how she was getting to the other gibbons!Lol
@Rita McComas they said it in the video is how I know it.
*RIP vet John Lewis*
