Toyota dealership wanted $280.00 for a new oem clock spring ! I gave this bloke a serve over the phone saying i can get an aftermarket one off a company that refurbishes clock springs for $70.00 !
Thank you. I also thought it was the cruise control switch but after watching your video I replaced the clock spring and now my cruise control works. Thank you very much for your video.
Amazing pro tip! My cruse hasn't worked in a couple years. I turned the wheel all the way and hit cruise and it came on. Now I know it's the clock spring
Thanks dude, the clock spring was what I was thinking. I first changed the clutch position sensor, then the switch with no luck. Next is the clock spring
I have one question, I am having the same issue where it sometimes works, but doesn’t the clock spring control all power on the steering wheel? My other controls like the volume and mode controls still work all the time.
Cruise controll lever. On the backside of the lever there is a little screw. Undo that remove cover. Youll find a wire for the on/off switch broken. With a fine tip soldering iron, solder the wire back on. Fixed. If it wasnt the clock spring
Well my cruise control disengages sometimes when im driving,no problems with the dash light coming on,i replaced the clock spring but im told my problem is with the brake light switch as it also controls the cruise control disengagement. I have a 05 camry v6,i have a new brake light switch that im going to install and hopefully that fixes the problem,if it continues to disengage intermittently then it has to be the stork like you have shown here.
this is the SPOt-on to the point video i was searching for. In my case of prado 2013, cruise doesnt engage, and i have the SKID icon (yellow), and steering icon (red) lit all the time. So yes i will go for this steering angle sensor part. thanks a lot
Al's Repair and Restoration, hi that is my situation. Light on cruise control lights up but it won't engage. Did changing clock spring fix your problem? Thanks in advance.
My cruise control light is intermittent the same way you described, when you did get the cruise light to come on did it also exhibit other issues too? Mine has a hard time functioning even when the system does turn on. Thanks for the video :)
My 2006 Tacoma (manual) has a problem with the cruise control. It turns on but it blinks constantly and won’t engage and do it’s job which is make so I don’t have to hold onto the gas pedal. Anyone have any idea of what to do?
Thanks, Joshua! Replacing the spiral cable fixed the cruise control on my 2008 Lexus IS250. $17 fix. You saved me a bundle.

If you turn the steering 90ish degrees either way and test the cruise switch and it works… the problem is the clock spring.

Great tip, super easy diagnosis
Aha! Thank you, sir!

What made the clock spring bad in first place ?
Glad to see this, already replaced two cruise switches and both intermittely and than quit.

Mate when your clock spring didn’t work die your horn stop working and did the airbag light also came on your dash?
Cheers
Did not know about the spiral cable/clock spring. Having similar issue in a 208 Tundra. Now to decide which one is the real culprit!
The cruise control in my 08 also works intermittently, but the audio controls always work, was that the case for you as well?

@@relr131NicaKid mine is intermittent but since Covid I'm not driving to work so I did not try a repair. Sorry
@@berardia4 no worries, thank you for the info though. Stay well my friend.
Great video, can you share description or item number please
Yep you nailed it, thanks!
Going to try this! Thanks!
Good to the point video. Thank you for making it.
Thanks for the info bro!

Yeah even when it did come on sometimes I would still lose control over the accel and decel functions. I'd say you should replace the clock spring.

You're welcome!
That's exactly the problem I was having, bought new switch for nothing.
Yeah it seemed like that might of been the problem but just wasn't...

Way too wordy and doesn't really address the "how to fix this."
Thank you for watching.
