- Let's go agate hunting the day after a BLIZZARD ends! All those waves pushed up a lot of rocks and left us a bunch of beautiful Lake Superior agates. Lake Superior rockhounding is always so fun in winter!

I'm so envious ( a little jealous even, maybe?) of you being to head right out and search agates pretty much whenever you feel like it. I LOVE agate hunting, but live 10-12 hours away from Northern Minnesota. I do have a couple very good friends that live outside of Grand Marais, I just need to get up there and visit them more often. :) Hey, maybe this coming summer, if I get up that way, we could meet up and do some searching together? Not sure if you do that sort of thing, or if you like to keep your spots a secret (which is totally understandable, by the way).
The lake has done an excellent job of bringing you some fresh agates. Beauties all! Yup that first one is a show store. Be happy, safe and stay healthy. ⚒😷

Idk how he finds all these agates, when I go north all I find are pebbles, I can only find agates in gravel pits and landscape

Hi scoopy!
Love watching you hunt for agate, but you might want to try wearing kitchen cleaning gloves, they would help keep your hands dry and probably not so cold. You can still wear your other gloves.

What do u do with them? We have these rocks all over down by our beaches too but their such in abundance no one cares that much about them here. White agates (idk their official name) but those ppl collect to make their ponds look pretty other then that.... I just have never known the point. So im curious about you hehe why do you love them and what do you do with them? Hehe 😁 nice to meet you btw 😉

Save up all that aluminum and then come summer find yourself an anthill and make a cast. Great finds, nice to see that Scoopie is still in the rotation. Is the newer one a bit too cumbersome for this type of hunt?
What beach is that? Is it in Duluth? I have only been to Duluth once (a couple months ago I had one day there) but I really want to take my family there to agate hunt soon but we sure could use some help with when and where to go so that we get at least some agates out of the long drive 🙏

I wish we had a place in Minneapolis that had waves powerful enough to wash the snow off the rocks. Rocks are covered over here. :/ winter literally just started and I’m already jonesing for an agate hunt fix.
I love the cold. Letting the lake help you out, the power of water is amazing. You could polish up the fishing lure and make a pendant, I think that would be awesome.
