This is kinda poetic. Valve always believed modders had what it takes to make a great game, people who are free to use their creativity due to not having a boss telling them what to do. Thus most of their titles originated from fan made mods of other source games. And now, their most recognized franchise is being concluded... by modders, by the fans. The amount of passion these people have is what is going to make this fantastic. Hell, maybe even historical.
I like how the song is "divided" in 3 parts. The first is very soft but climatic, the second is more melodic and calm, and the third is more energetic with more complex sounds. Nice.
Alyph and Project feel like two different reflections, Boreal Alyph captures an Epistle 3, as if a snapshot from the late 2000s. Project Borealis aims instead to capture Epistle 3 at the peak of modern late-2010s technology.
I think it's rather: We do not prefer the direction the project is going, we expect half life to have shorter tracks marking intense moments, not ambient tracks like portal 2 had, more like those that were present in half life 1 and 2 and its episodes. Just theorized that might be it.
I think that you should put your bets on ambient soundscape's creators not the composers. What made some areas scary was a scary soundscape.p, music too but mostly that. We ll see how it goes with this game though.
I think you mean background ambiance, more atmospheric and sounding less than a game track and more like the actual setting and situation. The Citadel 'music' that plays when you jump across the platforms to get inside was 'Neutrino Trap' which was very cool and mysterious.

Those low synth notes add such an haunting feeling. Like that gut feeling you get when something bad is about to happen, yet everything currently seems calm and serene and you don't know what's coming. Yet you know for sure it is. Thrilling!

Travelling along the edge of the ravine in the picture after the crash. At around 6:30 you would come over a hill and see an abandoned combine outpost with the lights left on and shining into the sky like beams of light.
Everytime, for some reason, I always forget about you guys. But then once I see the thumbnail to one of your videos, then my memories comes back to me instantly.
Incredible. So emotional. The crashed helicopter and borealis is such a distinct scene, especially with the small figures of Alyx and Gordon walking away from it into the frozen wasteland. I think it really shows that they're nearing the end of their journey and it's going to be a hard one they have to take alone.

In a way, I have this feeling Valve might be letting off on the production of Half Life 2: Episode 3 or Half Life 3 for many reasons, but maybe also to see and allow these developers and others to conclude the series in their own way. It could just be a possibility. Maybe Valve not making a new Half Life game (continuing the series) could be a good thing. It's absence has allowed this project, and others to be sparked by the community, and thus leading to the inevitability of Sidney Kirk's reveal.
They were on the video before it was removed from "Unlisted" status, so they were probably disliking because it hadn't been fully released. Or they could have just been spiteful, disliking it instantly.
The sheer eerie, foreboding joy I'll feel when I finally set my eyes on the goal, the very thing this game will be about. When I finally see the Borealis, for real. I cannot wait.
in the last posted sountracks, I could see a Lambda drawn from auroras. I thought that it was a great feat. Now, in this animated version, it's gone. Bring LAMBDA in the sky again
