Would everyone like me to make a how to video for the Honda add on transmission cooler? Let me know!!
Yes please.
Yes sir.
Yes, for sure! Thank you!!!
Yes! This video was fantastic. I would love to see how you do transmission cooler! :)
Yes please, I’ve used your video for installing the wiring harness. Keep up the good work. Thank you again.
Just got my harness installed. Thank for the very detailed video. Took me just under 2 hours, that’s with pausing and starting this video and being careful to not break clips. Thanks again!
Glad I could help and that it was easy to follow along so nothing got broken!
Thank you very much, just installed in my 16 pilot. Could not have done it without you bro, much appreciated.
Awesome! Thank you so much for watching and I am glad that it helped you install it
Thank you so much for this Video! Because you took off the whole side panel and showed very clearly how everything is, I was able to install the cable without having to remove the whole panel. instead I just removed the kick plate and pulled the side off a little.
I am glad you were able to do it so easily! I was hoping that people would be able to see what was going on better if they did it without taking the trim off.
Thats exactly how I did it! Once I heard him say he works in a bodyshop, I was like no wonder he made it look so easy. haha. But seeing it all was so helpful!
Just installed the hitch and wiring this last weekend and the videos were super helpful! I wasn’t going to take the big panel off but did eventually because it did make it easier but it was a little challenging to put it back without loosing patience 😆. Overall it was fun putting this puzzle together and saving over $400 that the Honda dealer would have gladly taken. Thanks again for the great instructions man!
Very welcome! I did the video with the panel off, figuring it would be easier for people to see what's going on. Glad it helped with the project and saved you money!
Thank you for the videos! They worked great! I reviewed them a few times and installed the wiring harness then the hitch today. It went smoothly and I ran into rust in the hitch bolt holes as well here in Maryland. Thanks for making the time to share this. You saved me hundreds $$$ of not having to pay someone to do it and I learned there are still some things we can do to work on cars these days!! Thanks again!!
No problem and I am glad that it helped out with the project and you were able to do it yourself and save the money!
Thank you so much for a great detailed video. Maybe just a little too detailed 😅. Back in 2019 when I got my Pilot new from the dealer, I decided not to mess with hitch installation and just paid the dealer to do it before I picked the car up. Another great example of if it is possible to do it yourself - do it yourself. The dealer didn't wanna mess with panel removal to install the brackets so they just connected everything, stuff it behind the cover and dispose of the brackets. So everything is pretty much dangling around since then in there. Your video really helped me to understand the components and connections to find the blown fuse. Now everything is working again like it is supposed to.
It's amazing what some dealers do when they work on cars. People think just because it's a dealership they have the best technicians working there and a lot of the time it's the complete opposite. I wanted to make a detailed video so people could see that they can easily do this themselves instead of paying hundreds of dollars for bad work
lol, thanks for making the effort to share your install. Really like how you did it right & document how to remove the side panel. BTW, the AWD option includes the extra transmission cooler lol. Note for you & anyone else who will be diy-ing their harness. the yellow fuse is actually for the trailer charge. the e-brake is for an aftermarket brake controller. if you look in the bag with the e-brake pigtail, it has another yellow fuse. Merry Christmas.
Glad that you could follow along and that it all made sense. I am used to taking things apart the correct way to install stuff, and a lot of the time it makes more sense to do it this way! Thanks for watching!
This was tremendously helpful and saved me tons of time. My 2016 Pilot has a power outlet in the rear panel which didn’t want to disconnect so I couldn’t get the panel completely off. Job is done though. Thanks!
Thank you SO MUCH for this video! I just installed the wiring harness on my 2016 Pilot this weekend. I was a bit nervous trying this myself (especially getting the panel back IN the vehicle! LOL) But, all went super smooth thanks to your instruction!!
Very happy that my video helped you with the install and nothing got broken!
Great video! No unnecessary explanations.
Thanks for watching! I hope it helped out
Great job man! Will be watching this when I install my wiring on my pilot!
Glad to hear I made it easy enough to follow along! Good luck with the install, let me know if you have any questions
Tutorial worked for my 2021 Pilot Black Edition. Thank you!
Awesome! Glad I could help you out!
Just finished my Honda Pilot 2019, thanks for your instruction!
Awesome man! I am glad that I could help you out with the video!
Great Video. This actually helps me to remove the other side of the panel to access amplifier.
Yes, basically the exact same steps to remove either side! Glad I could help
Great videos. I'm going to install the hitch and wiring harness this weekend.
Thanks to you and your video, I took a chance and successfully completed the wiring harness and hitch mount!! Thank you!
Glad I could help out! It's really not that hard when you start working on it. Thanks for watching
Great video THANK YOU
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks a lot.. I just finished mine right now... your information is really awesome...
Thanks for watching and I am glad it helped! Let me know if you need any other how to videos on the Pilot
Thank you for this! I have a 2016 Honda Pilot AWD...trailer hitch already exists, just need the hiring harness. :) Will be pulling a pop up under 5k lbs.
Good luck with the install!
Thank you for the video. Did I miss where you install the Ebrake pigtail?
Not sure. I have this video and the trailer hitch video so between the two is everything you need to do
@@streetriderscustomsI was able to follow and do the hitch and 7way. But no idea on the ebrake wire. I know it goes directly to battery?
Mr. Thank yiu very very much. This is absolutely a helpful video. I am greatly appreciative of the time that YOU Took to remove the interior panel, to expose the whole wiring layout.
For me this video went so far to let me see how the third row seats are mounted, and just what is intailed to remove them. I just purchased a 2018 ex-l pilot and my first mod is to yank the third row seats. I'm single and the third row seats need to go so I have more room to put my camping hunting and fishing gear. The second and third mods for me are like this vid, the tow hitch and oem wiring harness, and then installing the roof rails and cross bars.
I am very happy that I showed you what you needed in the video! I find taking the panels out makes it a lot easier to know what you are working on. Sounds like you have good plans for your Pilot!
Thank you for all the detail!
No problem I hope the video helps you get your project done!
Excellent thank you
Thanks for watching and I hope it helped you out!
Thank you for putting together this great video.
You are welcome! I hope it will help you when you go and install your parts!
Thank you!!!!!
You're welcome!
Hello there did you have to disconnect the battery before installing the wiring harnesses?
I did not, all connections are factory and you aren't splicing anything. But you can always do it if you are unsure.
Thank you, great video and so very helpful!
No problem, glad it was helpful for you!
You are the man! Thank you!!
Thank you! Glad it is easy to follow! Any other Honda Pilot removal videos you need just let me know
Great video thanks
Hope it helped out, any questions let me know!
Awesome video man thanks
I am happy you are able to follow along and get your project done! Let me know if there is anything else you need to know
Really helpful. Thanks!
No problem, I hope it was easy to follow along!
Awesome video! Have u noticed any problems with oil consumption on this truck? Thanks!
Thanks for watching! I have not had any oil consumption at all with it!
I installed the wiring harness and tow hitch today. There was one connector with one wire that was not used. Do you know what this is for? I noticed the connector in your video after I watched it again and you didn't mention anything about it.
Its probably just a connector that is used in some application with different options or overseas. Nothing to worry about. Glad the video helped
Great job. Thorough and clear instructions. Saved me a ton of time trying to figure it out on my own. What’s that left over plug taped to the main harness with the single brown wire for?
Thanks for watching and I am glad that my video can help out with your project! Not sure what the plug is, most cars have one wiring harness with different connections for all the different options they may come with.
@@streetriderscustoms took trailer out after checking all the lights. Then I realized the 12+ wasn’t at the plug. Checked all fuses everything in good order. Was wondering if I missed a step, like a programming feature. Have you ever run into something like this?
Never mind. Needed to plug fuse into far left side under hood instead of the e brake one. “Trlr charge” all fixed.
@@christopherholder7906 I'm glad it was an easy fix. I was going to say that I didn't have any issues at all when I first used the trailer but I am glad you found it easy enough!
Thank you so much
No problem, I hope this helps you out and if you haven't bought your parts all ready if you buy through my links in the description then I can receive a small amount of money to help out the channel!
Any recommendations on a brake controller that works with the cable you mention that come with the kit?
I honestly have not used one with the small trailer that we tow.
Thanks man!
Happy to help!
Hi,,,, great video and thanks, may I ask about the break controller. Why didn’t you install? Dealer is telling me they install it. I am trying to do it all myself. Oh also, you mentioned that the wiring harness kid is $150 but when I price it, it is $250. Does that sound correct?
The camping trailer we tow is a small a frame pop up and has no brakes so the controller is not needed. The price of the wiring harness was $150 at the time I made the video but it seems that Honda has raised prices since then
@@streetriderscustoms is the break controller easy to install or do I need to have dealer do it? I’ll be pulling a 3000lb boat & trailer. I don’t think trailer has breaks but we are inquiring about it. Thanks again
@@ivanhdrider2001if the trailer doesn't have brakes, there is no need for a brake controller
Unfortunately, I stripped the screw on one of the attachments even using a #3. There's absolutely no way to get that screw out. I don't know why they put it in so ridiculously tight. Now I'm stuck
The metal is way too soft and the screw is way too tight. How did you get it out?
Most frustrating thing I've ever had to work on. Finally got the wiring harness installed after about 4 and 1/2 hours of working blind. All because some idiot decided to tighten that one screw way down. I couldn't remove that plastic panel to save my life
That really unfortunate that happened to your car but it sounds like you got it all figured out and installed so that awesome
How did you mount the connector?
What connector are you talking about?
I think I was referring to the 7 pin connector but realized there is a plastic piece supplied by Honda that has to be swapped out. I went aftermarket on the harness and installed this weekend. Works great. Thanks for the the video.
Thanks, great video. What's the single wire connector that is taped up with blue tape?
I really don't know. I know honda likes to tape up wires that go to different accessories available for different trim lines so it may be something for a higher end model
Do you have the part number to that specific hitch? Not sure if it was added
amzn.to/3y3ZaYi
That's the link to the trailer hitch. It's in the description also and I have a link to a video of the trailer hitch install
Thanks for video. Just installed on my 2016 pilot. Just one question. there is a connector with blue tape shown and I had one, where does it go? I noticed that I do not have the 12 volt pin hot on the receiver. Wondered if had anything to do with. The rest is all good.
Usually if there is a wire that is taped up like that it just goes to an option that your car wasn't built with. As long as everything works then you should be good! Thanks for watching!
Great video! Do you know if there are any major differences between the 2018 and 2017 Pilot concerning the harness installation? Thanks!
I am almost positive it is the same because they fit that body style. You should be good to go!
Hi! Do you think this is the same with a 2020 Honda Passport? Been watching your video 2 times already and it seems to its the same install. 😅
I do believe it is the same. Sometimes with the different years there could be one or two things different but I believe if you follow the video it will get you through it
Good video, do you know how to add an auxiliary power outlet in the rear on that panel as the base model does not come with one, but there is a place for it? Thanks!
when you took your interior panel off, was there a spare electrical plug taped up that wasnt being used? If there was then I suspect that the plug would go to the aux power, and if you bought that piece you could install it and it would work.
You have any recommendation for a Trailer Brake Controller for Pilot EX-L AWD? Can you make a video for it? Tks.
I honestly wouldn't know what would be a good one or not. Our camper is a small one so I don't know if we would ever want one
What is the single brown wire used for? you see it with blue tape on the wiring harness.
Not sure. Its taped up from Honda so it may be a wire that is used in different markets. It has no effect on the install.
Thanks for the reply, could it be for the kick switch to open the rear gate?
Think this option is on the touring model.
Could be. Would have to look at a wiring diagram to be sure.
Will this work for a 2021 Honda Pilot EX-L as well? Great Video BTW....
I am not 100% sure if it would work on a 2021. Since that's a newer body style there could be some slight differences.
Do you have to unhook the negative battery terminal to do this? It didn't look like you did that?
You don't have to for this. Everything is just plug and play
Will this all work for 2019 pilot model
They harness is a different part number but I assume that it is basically the same install. They probably just changed a couple connections in the year change
Not necessary to remove all that panelling inside. I’ve done this.
No it's not, but I wanted to make the video for everyone who either wanted to remove it and make it easier or just to see what it looks like.
