  • A video showing the installation of wiring harness on a 2023 Honda Passport. The installation is not too difficult but does require removing interior panels in the back left of the vehicle.
Honda recommends having the installation done by a trained technician, but I found that it was easy enough for a friend and I to do ourselves.
Be sure and print out the instructions and follow along with them: www.collegehil...

Thanks for making and posting these videos! Very helpful, I just finished the hitch and wiring installation on our 2022 Passport Trailsport.

Need a tutorial vid for installing trailer wiring harness for a 2023 honda pilot 😔😔😔

Nice video, made the wiring harness a piece of cake. I did mine with only loosening the back half of the left panel. Would be hard to shoot the video that way but easy enough to do the actual work.

Your hitch install video was a huge help, this one equally informative. For what it is worth, I managed to do this with only removing the tool tray and side pocket, but you have to blind cut the electrical tape holding the 14pin connector behind the side panel.

I'm glad the video helped! I never even thought of just removing the tool tray and side pocket, that was a really good idea.

How were you able to release the connector shown at 4:19 without removing the big panel?

I didn’t remove the panel. Only used the access through removing the side pocket and tool tray. Getting the 14pin connector cut loose through the pocket was the hardest part.

I saw one video where they just took out the screws behind the back two hooks. Then pulled the back of the panel out enough to get to the factory plug. Much faster and less work.

Just did mine today. Didn’t have to cut anything loose and did not remove the large side panel.

Just an unrelated tip: when you have all those covers and tool box out, remove the spare tire and check the pressure. Mine was almost 20 psi low. Honda has the tire valve only accessible with the tire removed😮

Thank you! I was hoping the videos would help people decide if they wanted to do a self install or go to the dealer.

Should've been part of the trailsport trim and installed from the factory. Pathfinder rock creek includes the oil cooler, hitch, and wiring from the factory.

Great video, for some reason, I thought it would be a lot easier.
Kind of disappointed they don’t add the wiring when the vehicle comes with a trailer hitch.

From the factory, there is no trailer hitch. The hitch and wiring is a dealer installed option. He bought the factory tow stuff and installed himself.

I just purchased one, came with a trailer hitch, but no wiring.
I installed the wiring myself. That’s why I was watching this video.
And it came off the truck with the trailer hitch. The dealer did not install it.

@@columbotee2652 My dealer had maybe 12 new 2023 Passports on the lot and none came with a hitch. Maybe your dealer added it before you picked it up. The hitch is not shown on the window sticker as standard equipment.

The Pilot TrailSport comes standard with an integrated Class III trailer hitch.

@@columbotee2652 My new 2023 trailsport had no hitch nor is one listed on the "standard equipment" window sticker. I feel Honda would list it there as a selling point. Glad you got a freebie! Did you also get the bumper cover that fits around the hitch?

A big pain! Dealer had trouble finding the plug for an electronic brake controller.

This helps a huge amount. Did you need to add the 20A charge and brake fuses if you didn't put in the trailer brake control harness? Also, the push-in fastener at the front lower part of the side panel wasn't put back in. Wondering if it couldn't be reused. Maybe it became one of those random fasteners in the drawer (not that I have a drawer). Did you need to remove the rubber door gasket at the front of the panel?
