      I have bought a couple of really beautiful long cardigans for this winter, pure wool and fairly structured look, which go over everything and elevate the look and can even be used as an extra layer under my trench coat for warmth. But my favourite elegant and comfortable item for winter is my beautifully made navy belted wool coat. I can literally wear anything underneath this and look chic when I go out. I have upgraded my loungewear over the last few years because like everyone else I have spent a lot more time at home than previously, and I wanted loungewear that I would be happy to open the door to deliveries, pop to the shop or receive an unexpected visitor in. But I can even wear loungewear under my lovely coat and look really chic popping to the shop in emergencies! 😂

      In the hot, humid summer of Alabama,USA I like a linen dress,hoop earrings, flat sandals. In our usually somewhat moderate winter, I am frequently in leggings, a tunic length sweater and flats…either ballet or loafers.

    For me it's a one-and-done slip-on dress! I had a dress shaped like a "T" with a round neckline with a split in the front. the sleeves came down to 3/4 length. I belted it in with a variety of good-looking wide belts (I'm long-waisted so I take advantage of that). Cool, comfortable less than 10 seconds to put on. I had it in soft neutral beige linen/cotton blend. I wore it with sneakers for shopping, with heels for going out. Endlessly versatile, always flattering. Total favourite.

    My outfit today: khaki green cargo joggers and cream shirt, both in silk from LS, with cream-striped Toteme scarf. I have an appointment, with lots of sitting and waiting, in a very overheated building today, so I will be the most comfortable person there, but will also feel both stylish and elegant. I leave the usual uniform of thin black leggings with VPLs and CT to others. It is possible to be both supremely comfortable and chic; breathable, natural-fiber fabrics, especially silk, and nice, low to medium-heeled leather footwear (including sneakers), are key for me.

    Lily Silk has been my go-to clothing brand for years and I think this season’s styling is their best yet. In my other comment, I already talked about how much I love the safari-dress, but I also recently got their belted shirt dress with pleats to shape the waist, I love it just as much. It’s probably the most flattering dress I ever had. I got it in navy and am thinking about getting the black, too. I already had to go to two funerals this summer, one of which was my Mom’s. I always have a Lily Silk wish list and just get one or two items as I can afford them. Premium fabrics and quality like this do cost more, but they are forever wardrobe pieces for me.

    I have the safari-style shirtdress in both colors, the beige and khaki, and the shirts, too. I’ve been wearing them tons! I’m large-busted with relatively narrow shoulders, and the safari/military style pockets and epaulettes are perfect. The structure and tailoring are so flattering to my fuller upper torso. I love that the dresses’ skirts are A-line, not straight-cut like most shirt-dresses, there’s such a generous amount of silk fabric that I think even women with very full hips, thighs, etc., would love this cut . Contrary to the usual advice, a two-pocket shirt or dress is very flattering for a fuller bust, especially in silk, which adds no bulk. It visually cuts the chest area, and the eyes focus on the pockets, not what’s underneath! (So long as the size is adequate to button without strain or gapping, of course), The women who advise to the contrary as always flat-chested, what do they know? They always say we should wear wrap dresses, too, but I have yet to find one with enough fabric to actually cover my bust with reasonable modesty, which I must have.

      Hi Kimberley, I’m considering the shirt with pockets but am a DD/E cup so I often have the problem of stretched gaps between buttons and don’t want to add attention with pockets in that area. Would you say the military style shirt has enough space for DD+ to not create a gap or bulk in the chest area, since you have it? I also have narrow shoulders so would really appreciate your opinion if you have a similar torso shape! ☺️

  • @taunyawren8020
    @taunyawren8020 Год назад

    Well I think basically a long cotton sleeve shirt, cotton yoga style pants with or without a drawstring, socks & slip on arch support sneakers and a oversized cotton vest of some sort for fall/ winter. Summer is a tee shirt & shorts, athletic, yoga cotton style with arch support wide sandals. Maybe a over shirt. This is basically what I wear year round. If I’m leaving the house then perhaps a nice suede slip on shoe, or a better sandal, as in newer but still the same style. Or maybe a dress if there’s an occasion. It’s pretty basic. Mostly black, grey and navy with a color top. I’m thinking about trying to incorporate some white and possibly khaki or cognac but I haven’t yet because I’m uncomfortable with the color scheme and the idea of changing & adding new accessories is daunting. This includes the nude shoes. I’m still trying to figure out if & how that would work for me.
    I have been trying to update my wardrobe a little in the sense of a more tailored fit for my leisure wear, newer, laundered even ironed for dress. I like the juxtaposition of it. Not being baggy, obvious and slouchy.
    I’d say some of my obstacles with fashion right now would be - white sneakers, white shoes in general or nude including pants. This is because of the winter rules, the sloppy rules. And not wanting to look bigger, preppy, office, or boring. I see times have changed and it looks good on people, yet I’m unsure how & when to incorporate them, then there’s the expense.
    I’d also say the tucking in of shirts. Because I’ve always had a tummy pouch. So I always leave them out to cover. Ideally I find a shirt that falls just below. And the tying of like a long sleeve button down shirt at the waist is a bit awkward too.

    • @taunyawren8020
      @taunyawren8020 Год назад

      I forgot to add jeans. I’ve never really worn them much either. They were not very comfortable and were perceived as less dressy when I was younger so I just didn’t embrace them as much either.

    I want to say I love your hair color. It's winter here in the states where I'm at. Jeans and long sleeve undershirt (underwear), with a tee over that. Or a cami or tank top under the shirt. And of course tall boots. I can't stand to wear a half sleeve button up during this time because the sleeve goes up my arm while putting on a coat. That's me all winter but of course the sweater is a must have.

    Great ideas for chic dressing! It is very casual and right now cold here, plus I work from home. So, I have poly fleece from Joanns next in line for sewing tops and joggers😁. I did look at the Lilysilk site and agree the items look beautiful and reasonably priced, but they don't have beyond size large for women.😒 I like your delicate necklace, is it small silver or pearl beads?

    I have to say, I'm not keen on these Lily Silk blouses/shirts with the chest pockets, and the ones with pockets AND epaulettes are worse. The blouse with lace insert in the sleeve is nice though :)

      I like the good tailoring of Lily Silk, but unfortunately the seizes are accidentally. Either a certain size fits or it's way to big, one never knows. I tried to purchase four times, then I gave up. The returning process....OMG! You need to ask for permission for returning, asking for a certain number, print everything out in the internet. THEN....you have to pay the return by yourself in the original packet! As a private person I can't send back in a plast bag here in Germany.. But Lily Silk has sent it to me covered by a plast bag. Now I have to cover the plastic bag with a paper bag and pay an expensive sending because of a tracking number. The refunding is OK and is working quickly at least. If there were secure sizes and an easy returning for free as it is common here in Germany, I would like Lily Silk, but like this it doesn't work
