Yep, when I was overweight I had a gym membership for a year and went like 5 times. Finally I started working out at home, lost the weight and now I’ve been considering renewing my membership because I feel much more confident in the way I look. People always say that no one care and no one is judging a fat person who goes to the gym and for the most part I’m sure that’s true but it doesn’t stop anyone from feeling self conscious. It had never mattered what anyone else thought of me, it was what I thought of myself that made me not want to have to be the fat guy working out next to a bunch of fit good looking people. It is what it is and frankly I have a bit of equipment now so I can get a great workout in my apartment. I mostly want to start up my membership again because I’m really proud of how I look now and I guess I kind of want to show off.

Going to a real gym would be more for the social aspect than anything else. And yep, I’m %100 determined to build a great physique regardless. I just keep telling myself, this time last year I was fat and hated the way I looked, right now I’m thin and look decent but by this time next year I’m going to look great. And secondly, do you even know what shredded is? Ever seen bodybuilders on stage? This guy is a normal dude, being shredded is not needed. Shredded is when youre in the 4-7% range of bodyfat. Its a percentage that is just not sustainable physically. To get that percent of bodyfat you have to cut even on water. This guy is not shredded, he is lean. Which is about 7-10% bodyfat. It was also really interesting to see how non linear your progress was and the fact that you were okay with that and I also am glad that you mentioned that choosing leanness over size is a preference whereas people seem to think its the law to commit to a bulk and get visibly fat or else it hasn't worked.

This is a very real transformation considering all the lost gains he had throughout. However, I still think there was a massive amount of potential loss.
I've now been working out for about 1-2 years, with proper training at a gym and such. (We're looking at 3 total years, but the first year I was very.. disoriented and unorganized, bread for breakfast and night, then one random proper meal during the day, didn't challenge myself in the gym either.)
I'm not as shredded as Joe here, but I am definitely bigger.
I've eaten 4-6 meals every day now, with 6 days of working out a week. I've been to around 7 parties throughout my entire life, and I stopped drinking pretty soon after I started.
So, I'm just saying that if you dedicate yourself to working out 110% These gains are possible within 2-3 years. depending on dedication as a whole, not JUST in the gym.
There are most probably going to be times when you have to force feed yourself. I've had my fair share of force-feeding just this past couple month.
Eat real food. Throw your protein and mass gainers in the trash.
You can surpass steroids, your body is VERY good at adapting and improving itself, so every day must be a challenge.
Doesn't matter if you workout for 10 or 15 years. IF you don't dedicate yourself to the point where it is more than just going to the gym with your buddies, you won't see very much progress.
I'd say Joe here would probably look like he looks now, with 2-3 years of proper and intense training with lots and LOTS of food.
Now I am not an expert in bodybuilding or anything like that, I just go off the knowledge I have as a bodybuilder.
Thanks for reading, have a great workout!

People still accuse him not being natural? This size and strenght can be attained with 6+ years of proper training. Obviously you need good genetics in terms of muscle insertion and the ability to get lean fast. Also, with the right angle, pump and lighting a photo may give a false image.
I am aware there are fake natties, but he is far below the size and amount of lean muscle mass of all men's physique competitors.

I get the struggle of an ectomorph in trying to keep size, but geez I'd have that over my meso/endomorph mixed shitty genetics.
