Joe Delaney you couldn’t have delivered this crucial information in a shorter format thank you bro
Mate, forget the fitness mumbo jumbo. How'd you manage to write that well with your left hand with zero smudge. Musta been a retry or 5 😂
Joe Delaney at 2:50 isn’t that the disabled guy from glee who was also recently on celeb X Factor UK LOL?

Some heroes dont wear capes
Everything else is pretty much correct but he's wrong about recomp and you don't need a macro ratio to lose fat/get shredded especially for a "skinny fat" individual that doesn't have much lifting experience
I would say that if you're watching this and can't even invest 18 minutes of your life in educating yourself on your current situation, your current body is what you gonna get. Watch the video, invest time educating yourself. It'll take longer than 18 minutes to make a positive change your body.
The simple way to explain skinny fat is a person that looks skinny clothed, and 'fat'/'soft' naked. Skinny people can actually see the muscles when naked, they are just small/flat muscles
Aka no muscle
@@Supermario19001 no, just not much muscle mass
@@Supermario19001 Every healthy skinny person has some muscle - muscles are required to walk or move in general. As the other commenter stated, it's just very minimal muscle mass in comparison to someone who lifts consistently.
So I'm skinny not too much muscle but look skinny muscular with a faint top abs showing but a pot belly (beer) looking like 3 months pregnant. Skinny fat? Literally only my belly which has fat
@@brandonbr3796 That is the definition of skinny fat. A lot of men only put visible fat on their belly (at least at first), whilst having skinny arms/legs, which is where "skinny-fat" came from. You're not skinny fat if that explains you though, just a bit chubby with little muscle.
For me, being 26, I definitely felt the fear when he said "If you're 30 or above, your best lifting days might be behind you." I think it's time for a change before my 20s end.
First of all, fancy seeing you here! I'm a huge fan of your videos and have been for a long time. Second, I'm also 26 and my mindset is identical. I've been lifting weights on/off for the last 6 or 7 years but never got too serious. I found myself getting bored with not seeing results right away. (It's like starting to train strength at level 85 on goblins or cows... slow improvements and boring!).
All the best in your fitness journey! And keep up the great OSRS vids :)
love your videos mate (especially the timeline)! I'm 26 too--let's keep it moving!
@@ShawnHarleyMusic I love the terminology you used - perfectly described how I felt as well haha. 🙂 Thanks for the kind words as well my friend. We both got this!
@@PaulBernert I appreciate you Paul. Thanks a lot my friend. 🙂
Holy shit. I love you bro. Anyway, it’s okay. I lifted from 18-21 until I became an absolute PoS. Those days behind me now. But I started lifting In March after focusing on bodyweight routines from Dec-March. I’m 28 and getting in better shape than I have been in fucking years. You got this bro. It’s easier than clicking on a medieval clicking simulator.
Tl;dr you got it bro and I appreciate your content.
Nah mate it’s, set a man a fire, and he’s warm for the night. Set a man ON fire, and he’s warm for the rest of his life.
I mean, I’m pretty sure that’s it.
I wasn't skinny and got fat, I was fat and got skinnier cause i grew taller. Welp, now I'm skinny fat.
Anyone else?
same lmao. i'm more on the skinny side tho.
facts bro same thing happend I grew taller by like an inch and it just made me fatter idk how just made me look fatter

Here's a super basic rule of thumb I like to use:
Diet controls your size and exercise controls your shape.
If you aren't super big or super small, just soft and saggy, then no diet will help you. You need to get stronger.
If you have a great shape to your body but you're just not as big as you want to be, or you're bigger than you want to be, no workout will help you. You need to change your diet.
Olivia Farrington spot on
Thank u
Hold up I never thought about it like this yoooooo
Your comment m'lady, is utterly underrated
“Soft and saggy” Yup pretty much.
I know it's a small thing and the content is great, but the podcast mic is a great addition to the vlogs. Sound is so much better. Keep it up
finally someone adressed all the youtubers claiming to have been skinny fat when they were just skinny
@Jay-john Derbyshire don't worry about it mate, focus on getting stronger on good ol' movements like ohp, front squat and the weighted pull up and dam u won't be skinny fat for too long
Mehrad Bagher-Ebadian so I can’t do body weight? Help a dude out I’m 5’6 and weigh 146lbs and I’m guessing my body fat Percentage is 19%

I've been following this advice for the past 6x weeks during lockdown - I'm getting stronger and am visibly bigger, all while being in a caloric deficit. My weight on the scales has stayed more or less the same but my body fat percentage has been steadily decreasing. Several people have commented about the difference already. Trust the process!
Cheers, Joe, I've been stuck for too long.
what advice?
How many calories where u cutting was it 500 like it said or a little less ?
I’ve just fell in love with your handwriting 😧
Gotta love this guy's content. No bullshit programs, No super specific and overly prolongated sciency stuff, straight to the point with easy explanation.
I have a lot of respect for people like you who are willing to share the knowledge wether we all benefit or not, so thank you and keep it up.
2 years after posting and this still resonates. I’ve opted for cut with progressive overload in the gym so probably more recomp than anything, but that’s purely from an aesthetic pov. Once I’m reasonably comfortable with my body I’m just smashing a bulk because I’ve got very long limbs and feel like a clean cut would just make me look even skinnier, despite more definition. Love the content and direct delivery
Love your natural informal ramblings interceded with your valuable understandable logical info, in your words it’s SICK man!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Yup 100% true about resistance training even with a shit diet. Everyone seems to be preaching this whole 'gains are made in the kitchen' bs. No. Gains are made in the gym. They are revealed in the kitchen. I fucking love eating so I never 'fixed' my diet but here I am 5 years later with a pretty muscular body whilst snacking and eating some junk every single day.
More like abs are made in kitchen. Not gains.

I'm skinny fat in my late 30's and I'm watching this video to get some advice. I like your unpretentious approach!Very good work! Thanx, Joe!
I used to be skinny fat, this guy has got it bang on. There's also a hormonal an dietary problem with skinny fat people. Increase protein to at least 25% of total calories minimum cardio and have some Ashwagandha to reduce cortisol and increase testosterone.
Been on and off training wise for the past 2/3 years but being 17 I’m wanting to pull and look good can’t lie. This is one of the best videos I’ve seen on this topic, cheers mate

Love this! I've been waiting for someone to say something along the lines of "diet is good but it's not EVERYTHING". I've been stuck for a while and after a surgery I lost motivation and I've always ate right and for the most part stayed on a healthy eating habit. For the past 3 weeks I've been on a more steady weight training routine and I've noticed a bit of fat loss. Very straight foward points given.

Solid advice. I notice that I am becoming "skinny fat" since I stopped lifting and my diet didn't change. I eat moderately healthy with a decent amount of junk foods/drinks. Now that I haven't trained properly for 3 months, I can see how my body transforms into something else. Getting back to the gym asap!

Great video, stumbled on this and everything you said makes perfect sense and was the clearest I’ve heard.I’m skinny fat and I do loads of cardio but no resistance training. Clearly I need to switch it up.
I'm doughy, Help a brother out LMAO
Coming from a person that use to be skinny fat, I literally just went to a pescatarian diet for about 3 months and did nothing but swim. I swam for 1 hour every day. Not relaxing in the pool but doing back to back laps switching between legs and arms ONLY. The entire point isn't to lose weight per se, but to lose the excess fat build up. I went from a 180 skinny fat, to a relatively fit 165. After I got to my desired weight, I hit the gym. Dropped swimming altogether, kept the pescatarian diet and added 1 day of eating anything minus sugar. No sugar. It shaved off a lot of fat and definitely saw definition night and day.
In short, I didn't immediately hit the gym. I went 3 months just swimming and dieting. That's it. Its amazing what your body will do for you if you get your heart pumping and target muscle groups swimming.
How did it turn out for you? This is pretty much what I'm doing now
@@zamenfek5796 It was probably the easiest thing ever. I recommend this method for anyone wanting to lose weight. Just eat more protein than carbs and drop sugar and it pretty much just falls off.
