I’ve always had bad posture but lugging around a heavy ass bag in school did not help. Because I carried every book and binder to every class because we simply were not given enough time between classes to get from half our classes to our lockers (and the schools I went to had small lockers three to a row) and if you had a middle or bottom locker sometimes eve a top locker you were screwed and would be late, and being late was not an option for me as most teachers would hear nothing of it if you tried to explain it was because of the crowds at the lockers.
Now I work in an office at a desk so being at a phone and computer all day kn top of being a gamer its worsened my posture and I’ve been working to fix it. Its not perfect but its getting there but I have a tilted pelvis and thats what I really need to work on. Even though I’m correcting it keeping it is hard because I resort to my bad posture when my back starts hurting from the many accidents I’ve been in.

This video cures bad posture, anxiety and depression. I have bad posture, worse than the guy in the video had before. Bad posture, not only lowers your stamina through the day but also lowers your confidence, your sleep and your cognition. I can speak by myself. The 'nerd neck' as he called it, constrains the blood flow to the brain, triggering anxiety. You can't properly relax while sleeping, you are always making an huge effort to look straight and good in public, as your heavy head only wants to fall down and you can't walk normally. You can't oxygenate the brain properly, you can't relax neither body neither mind 24/7. What a great video. I've been trying to fix my posture for some time now, but all I see is standing straight on a wall doctor videos. It is a good exercise too. But by what this trainer spoke and by what I've been researching for the last year in the subject, he really knows what he is talking about. Many doctors instead a prescribing pills to patients, they should look first at their posture and forward them to this kind of treatment. Bad posture heavily messes with health, confidence and cognition.

Me neither, I only extrapolated by personal experience. Where do you feel more anxiety? In the thorax. Anxiety is only a command from our brain to our thorax to demand oxygen. This happens when you have a thinking overload and lack of oxygen in the brain to supply all those neurons working.

I even tried a basic yoga stretch, pushed a little hard and pulled pelvic ligament due to lack of flexibility. I'm in pain, extremely unhealthy and your video is the best I've seen. Your really friendly, motivating and the exercises are simple enough, (I have to adapt the pulling one as dont go to gym,no confidence) and the fact theres only four isnt overwhelming. Its hard to start making a difference n change your life but my fitness journey has to start with a single step and that's your little exercises. Sorry for the essay but I felt if I write a comment and also take before and after pics I have to hold myself accountable. Thank you for inspiring me! I'll show you the afters one day!

Hi there! Thank you very much men for the posture correction video. I have been a cook for many years. I didn't realize how bad my back posture has become till I saw myself in a full length mirror. As a career cook...I have arched my back and neck over a prep area to chop and slice and make various items quite a while. This video has given me simple exercises to correct my posture. And although my back doesnt hurt anymore (so long as I dont bend backwards, lift anything heavy, or basically do anything strenuous), I am suffering from a significant amount of pain in my left leg on the side of the shin, as well as, pain in my left hip. This wasnt a problem until after I went to the chiropractor. So I dont know if it's a result of the healing process, sciatica, buldging disk, or of he caused it. Anyway, I have to stretch multie times a day to ease the pain, with 400-800mg Ibprophen tabs 1 time a day for the pain.
Thank you for asking. It's more than I got from the chiropractor after i abruptly stopped going to see him, not even a phone call, email, or text conveying any concern over me or my whereabouts! Perhaps he thinks im dead, in jail, in the hospital, or that I have been laying on the floor for the last 3 weeks, unable to get back up due to the horrendous pain and doesnt want to bother me!! Lol.

I've been combining similar stretches + yoga class 2x week and my posture corrector from Berlin & Daughter after extra long days at the office. Think the instant relief really makes a difference. A lot of these exercises were super uncomfortable at first (especially the face pulls omg) but def easier now. I think the power for me is in keeping the exercises up, and not expecting a permanent fix, because lots of things make your posture bad/weak again (sitting at my desk, driving a car, general slouching, etc). So I try to keep it up and that's been really helpful!

I used to have all of these, to fix it, my advice is to make your effort in sitting straight and walking straight. Because these are daily activities, they are also the main causes of this mess, that's why you must also address them for faster results Most people with these problems never sit straight or walk straight, if you don't, do this. When you sit focus in your upper back. Sit on a backless chair like you do naturally, and look yourself in a mirror. You might notice your upper back is rounded, now try to straighten it up, stick your chest out more than you normally do, also stretching your back. You might get tired after a while but that way you will start to work the muscles that keep your spine straight and eventually you will do it unconsciously. Now do the same thing when you walk. Stand still and look yourself in a mirror, you might also see that your upper back is rounded, again, straighten it up and look up (moving your whole neck also) forcing your spine to straighten up, this may also be tiring but eventually you will do those movements naturally. To address the round shoulders you can exaggerate the movement and bring them as back as you can, as you see in this video. And for the nerd neck, follow this video's exercise and make an effort to look up when walking and sitting (not all of the time of course just as an exercise but NEVER look down, maintain a normal level). My tilted pelvis is not completely fixed but by following all of what I just told you it diminished significantly, so follow this video too. Of course don't forget to do some exercise too (not really necessary if you do the previous but it will certainly help in getting faster results), focus in your core and overall upper body, but gluts are also crucial. And that's how in some months I significantly fixed my posture, but i will also follow some of this video's exercises to furthermore solve the problem.

Remember to RELAX and breathe whenever you stretch, you can't stretch a muscle by force! This P. T. is right-on about putting form first, once you have the body mechanics down, slowly stretch to the point of resistance then relax and breathe into your stretch and allow your tension to melt as your muscles lengthen!
      Ahhh.... Feels so good. 💪💛👍

I have schuermanns kyphosis. I had a 10 level fusion T3-L1 (20 screws 2 rods 2 connections) I had a horrible humpback that got progressively worse. My pain has increased from the surgery but I’m not going to die. The bones turned into triangle shaped instead of rectangles. 4 vertebrae around my heart had zero disc left and they essentially crushed together. The bones were in splinter form. I’ve never had a job that I’ve been allowed to sit at, and usually had 2 of them. Mostly restaurants, but always standing and lifting. You should see my MRI pics, titanium ladder from collarbone to bellybutton areas. I’m not trying to blame it on anyone, I was born in the 70’s, nobody knew anything about it or what to do if they did. The surgeries of yesteryear were butcher jobs. I think it was from the insanely heavy backpacks we used to have to carry, every book almost everyday to and from school. I remember this pop/squish breath taking thing in like 10th grade or so. This I guess is a super rare disease / birth defect, 1 in a million type thing. The strangest, creepiest thing, my next door neighbor who was my age and in my graduating year was diagnosed with it too! I hadn’t seen him for nearly 20 years and we eventually got to talking about back problems. I oddly wonder if the mill that was close to us had issues. It was some sort of battery production place, (space shuttle batteries I think).
Reason for all this; I wish kids were taught this while they’re still resilient and could get the best posture foundation to start life with rather than trying to undo it when it’s far too late. You gave actual steps to do, it’s much more effective than to yell at a kid to sit up or stand up straight.

JayGee75 Hey bud, as I’m sure you know, everyone is different and respond in many ways. That being said, much has to do with age. My probs started at about 18 years old noticeably getting more and more hunchbacked. I lost a great deal of weight, which helped in a few ways, strain, improper alignment, but the big part was that I could move easier (walking mostly). The condition progressively got worse. I didn’t have medical insurance so I did my best self diagnosing, self medicating, and being aware of my limits. I do wish I had done some research to find posture correcting equipment. I found after the surgery I was put into a full brace from collarbone to hips, that although blinding pain post surgery, it felt so much better being constricted, holding posture. I have seen something I will be getting, it looks like a T shirt with bands on the front and back to work along the same line as my full brace just shirt rather than the football shoulder pads look. The brace had many strings to pull tighter, but the shirt at this point, I hope would be enough, without little kids staring and asking “what’s wrong with that man mommy?” I got the original from Hangar Prosthetics, not sure how big the company is, any prosthetics in your area should be able to help. They were very nice to work with, and helped me understand the million adjustments I could make. I’m also not sure if they’re only available at a prosthetic places either. I did see some online, never in a store or anything.
I’d be happy to try to answer any questions you may have. I know how crappy these conditions are, and how little help you seem to get.
      Best wishes.

JayGee75 braces and physical therapy. The specific exercises help immensely. I bought an inversion table to flip me upside down. The decompression of the discs as well as taking the weight off being opposite to gravity really felt nice. Also a tens unit, cheap enough online and worth the money.

What you said about the mill had me curious, I grew up by an abandoned battery plant that was later remediated, we played in the building and on the property. Later on I was tested and had high lead levels, my pain started maybe a few years later. Years of being misdiagnosed in my late 30s I found out I have severe ankylosing spondylitis, I was prescribed a brace that my insurance wouldn't pay for and I still have not gone through physical therapy. I am doing some research and trying to do what I can to get better. Sorry to ramble about my history. Looking at my xrays, rods and pins won't help but so far hip arthroplasty and what exercise has made a difference. Lost weight and ditched the narcotics. Like you I have. forced bad posture. I was always told to sit up straight as well. I have been told the surgery is too risky to straighten my spine. Best wishes to you!

Posture is soooo key and essential for muscle development and filling in. The first thing that I noticed out of my transformation was more so my posture than my muscle growth!
Posture is conducive to muscle growth. It’s changed the way I look, how I sit, and even how I text on my phone: using it upright - it’s awkward in public bc it looks like I’m taking a photo of someone lol. I raise my phone more to eye level and reduce my neck tilt!
Anyway, I used to practice against a wall, but now I focus on my glutes + abs. Even when I walk, I use these muscles loads more than how I used to.
I also sleep flat sometimes - I dunno if that’s recommended but be careful about eating before sleeping, to avoid acid reflux!
    Go posture!

That’s because the constant uneven pressure on part of the disc pinched by the vertebrae reduces blood flow to that region, and so the necessary nutrition fails to get to the cells of the disc - and deterioration occurs.

So how many reps, how often, and how long to look for improvement?

    • @nampook95
      @nampook95 5 лет назад +22

I am a 3rd year physical therapy student. Your postural muscles are "endurance muscles" unlike muscles like your quads or glutes, which are typically called "power muscles." For endurance muscles you want to work on time based sets instead of focusing on number of reps/sets. What this means is to try to do maybe 30 second holds for 4 sets each day (for example). Every time you do these exercises you are going to want to try to increase the amount of time you are able to hold that correct posture position. In addition, you want to be as conscious of your posture as you can throughout the day. If you find yourself in a poor neck posture, correct it while you are thinking about this. It takes over 10,000 reps to break/start a habit, so catching your poor posture and correcting it will help to lead you to better posture in addition to the exercises in this video. I know I am 6 months late, but I hope this is helpful!
