    I used to think a great vacation was traveling to the beach or another country. I bought 43 acres of land and now I think a great vacation is attending a seminar with Joel Salatin or other regenerative farmers.

      @@randallsunderland4331just look at his videos find other mentors and start with that. Go to local farmers ask them for help if you need they are usually eager to help. Have fun with the process. Don't start with more than you can handle.

    Nature has always worked! We need more of what Mr. Salatin is doing and much less of what doesn't work. Help people get back to farming and helping the land and we can get rid of factory farms and carbon sequestration pipelines. Congratulations, Mr. Salatin, on your appointment! Excited to see what you and Mr. Massie bring!

    Keep It up joel. Ive been doing regenerative polycultures in the Venezuelan Andes for 18 years. I tried building so many models of chicken tractor, but none combine easy moving with full containment. I now just st rebuild a Large fence when they're done with the grass and plant behind them. I hope to upgrade to electric when I can afford it, and have stable electricity. Eventually I hope to fence a few of my one hectare cacao/fruit/coffee orchards with a shared Large coop house on an improvement version of the "Tree Range Farms" system. My pigs move through 6 Rotary pastures with blocks of corn and wild tomatoes & Amaranth grown behind. I feed them mostly ripe bananas and cut forrage crops.

    Hello Joel, at a similar age to yourself and from the UK. i wonder what is in store for our children and g. children with the way both our countries are being run. Noone will be able to accuse you of not doing your bit regards teaching future generations on how to farm and grow food etc, and all with a lot more thought and commonsense. Your word has reached people all over the world, our country included with people turning to regenerative farming practices without the need to subsidise the chemical industry and destroy the land they are trying to live off. Globalisation is sweeping the world with government trying to control the way you live and what you eat. I enjoy watching your government committee hearings while you educate them on the way things should be done, it seems you do have your supporters there. We raised pigs for pork bacon etc while a kid in the fifties and sixties and remember the old ways of doing things, its so different now. I have just watched another tour and never get tired of them, thank you for all you do and i wish you and yours the best, with great admiration and regards Alan from the UK.

    Hi joel you’re really inspiring, using cows as composters is smart, so much so that i’m planning to make a composter in the shape of a cow that hopefully works like a bread machine to agitate the stuff i feed them and turns it in to fertilizer for the feed for my chickens and geese and for them too, it sounds crazy i know but i don’t have enough land to have actual cows so i came up with an adorable machine the size of a pygmy goat to get rid of organic materials, i could just buy a composter but i like to make stuff, also i want to do what i want on my farm, i also took inspiration from how earthworms make compost, i lost all the worms i had 8 years ago and it was hard to get over and i don’t want to go through that loss again

I’m a subscriber of Beyond Borders 🙌🏽I recently found another LUNATIC LIBERTARIAN -Larry Sharpe-here on RUclips and I’m just LOVING his livestreams. @ Joel uses no
      pesticides or herbicides on his farm. He is not organic as he buys local grains. I believe he focuses on non-gmo grains. I don’t think he uses anything on his pastures. He has a great podcast called Beyond Labels.

    28 from the middle of nowhere America. I am currently working on building a sharecropping business using your grazing techniques as well as permaculture for things like landscape and water management. I started with a very hard clay with some patches of what my old man calls buffalo grass and seep weed. Now, i have tall fescue, brome, wild sorghum, orchardgrass and other things i cant identify growing everywhere! I haven't even gotten to the animals yet because I didn't have the money to get any, let alone feed them. Now... I may be able to earn cash by letting others graze their herds here! Till I can buy my own breeding stock. Thank you for teaching me about Mobstocking Herbivorous Solar Conversion Lignified Carbon Sequestration. 😂 Live long man!
    Edit: Side note, I've studied nutrition and fitness for quite a long time now and I can confidently say that your upright pulling and pushing of things like your chicken tractors keeps your knees and hips healthy and strong. I bet you can run pretty fast, especially for your age! Or jump far beyond what anyone would expect.

    WE get three crops a year off our ground . We take off a crop of sweet corn then plant triticale , that is pastured off in the late fall , in the late spring early summer the triticale comes back and gets round bailed and sweet corn back in and triticale again planted for grazing again . This is a great program , we are not organic .

Being single I want to do more than I can alone. I would relocate just to be a part of a bigger picture to accomplish more. I enjoy gardening and having a market but it's a lot of work for one.

    I like the creativity of moving your chicken tractors anywhere, but I wouldn’t suggest anyone use a road median or next to an airport, way too toxic. Especially by an airport where they still have leaded fuel.

  • @SwitchMultiMedia

    I've never seen anyone using mobile chicken tractors. Nice that they are on grass. This does not seem to allow any free-range chickens.

      For raising broiler(meat) chickens, the broiler shelter allows for control and safety from predators. These chickens are usually harvested around 6-7 weeks. They have access to clean grass every day, keeping their living conditions sanitary for maximum health of the bird. Check out the egg mobile structure if you’re looking for the Polyface free range laying hen model.

    • @Sonflower719
      @Sonflower719 23 дня назад

      Well, technically they are Free Range, only you done have to herd them up which can be a job! So yes they are still doing what they would be doing and eating what they would be eating & it is up to you how many stays in a pen at a time.
