24 oz (680 g) cake flour
24 oz (680 g) granulated sugar
1 tsp salt
2 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
10 oz (283 g) egg whites room temperature
6 oz (170 g) vegetable oil
18 oz (510 g) buttermilk room temperature or slightly warm
12 oz (340 g) butter unsalted and softened
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
EASY BUTTERCREAM FROSTING RECIPE ►
8 oz (227 g) pasteurized egg whites
32 oz (907 g) powdered sugar
32 oz (907 g) unsalted butter softened but not melted
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt
1 dot purple food coloring to make the buttercream white
GOLD WATER GANACHE DRIP ►
5 oz (142 g) white candy melts
1 oz (28 g) chocolate candy melts
6 oz (170 g) hot water
1 tsp Truly mad plastics super gold dust
1/4 tsp everclear or vodka or lemon extract

Made this for my birthday, so yummy! I used cream cheese frosting instead of buttercream.. had to put in a dowel to prevent the layers slipping. It was a grrat cake, well worth the mound of washing up! Thanks for this recipe!
I made this cake for my daughter’s 9th birthday and it turned out great! The recipe, instructions and video were easy to follow and understand. I am not a baker by any means. The cake looked and tasted amazing! I’ll definitely make the cake and frosting again.

Absolutely love it, Liz!!!! Great tip to chill the cake again before your final coat to get those sharp edges. I never knew that and have always struggle with frayed edges.😁

Made one for my daughter's birthday, and it was a hit!! The cake itself was really sweet, so I think I'll cut the sugar down on my next attempt. The buttercream was the best icing I've ever had!! So so so good! This will definitely be my go to recipe for icing from now on.

1) yes this cake is THE BEST! The first time I made it has a caketastrophe bc I didn’t mix it long enough and sure enough, like you said would happen if i didn’t mix it long enough, it collapsed. It still tasted extraordinary. So i made it again and voila! The best white cake I’ve ever had. My 3 girls LOVE IT. 2) “the next forever” smoothing the cake is so true! I could spend all night getting the cake perfectly smooth. My husband is like it’s fine! Move on! I’m hoping to get faster. Thank you for this beautiful video! Every recipe I’ve tried of yours is absolute perfection. I’ve made: white velvet, red velvet, German chocolate (I added hot coffee instead of the water and it was so yummy), and easy buttercream. You’re the best!

Hi! I want to make this cake for my daughter's 5th birthday. Does the cakes have to be cooled off completely before putting in freezer before the assembly?
I’m always so nervous about making these cakes because although many people say don’t over mix, it seems almost impossible to over mix if you have to mix the color in after the initial mixing. Does the cake still come out moist and tender?

I've watched so many tutorials where they say too much gel coloring gives you a bitter taste to your batter or icing. Leeanne Stoute the amount I’m adding is not too much :) because yes, too much tastes bitter. This cake uses reverse creaming method so it doesn’t get over mixed

Hello! Is the cake strong enough for a 2 tier cake?
This cake looked amazing and was so fun but the frosting tasted and looked like plain butter. Not sure what I did wrong and it seemed odd to use 8 sticks of butter. I whipped it fully. Obviously others haven’t had that issues so I’m assuming it was operator error.

I have a question: for your easy buttercream, would you describe it as buttery or sugary?
I’m used to making SMBC but my folks think it’s too creamy.
That Girl Kels this easy buttercream is a mock SMBC so I find it to be a little lighter and less creamy than regular SMBC. It won’t be buttery as long as you whip the butter for long enough until it’s white and doesn’t taste buttery anymore😊

Zwoitwa Mafenya-Mphaphuli since I baked and decorated the cakes in one day I didn’t even wrap them, but if you’re planning on decorating on a different day I’d wrap them in plastic wrap to freeze or refrigerate them
