Just as you were blessed by Judy Ross I live in Sun City West and our community is blessed to have her live right here with us! She hosts a mixed media class every Friday afternoon and it is impossible to walk out of the class not having learned something about the world of art and creation. She is a phenomenal teacher and inspiration to all of us! And the best thing she did was bring Tim to all of us! Tim needs to know that he helped me through the awful 2 years of Covid with his weekly classes. Amazing talent! Thanks Judy for bringing Tim to the world of art!
How did I not know about this channel before now!? I loved this episode so much. I'm so very grateful for you guys, all of you. I love this industry so much. I've been scrapbooking since 1998 and now have an art room full of beautiful supplies that I enjoy using every week. I love you all!
This has been so enjoyable watching. Three friends teaching us all the history of these products we all love! The kindness in your hearts and love of what you do glows from you! We are so lucky to have you!❤️❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎊🎊🎊
I wish I wouldn't have waited 3 months to watch this. It has been very good time spent and also very relateable. I graduated in 1976. My very first and olny stamps I would buy for years were Hero Arts. I remember Jennifer from CK. Now I am so thankful for falling into the Tim Holz world. It took me several years however know I look at it from a differnt pair of glasses. Thank you all so much for the things you do. I have been a hobby girl since I was 8yrs old. I would rather buy yarn than clothing and still need graft productes more than clothing. THANK YOU ALL AGAIN ❤
Carol Duval is the most important crafting person in my life. She and Aleene (if the glue!) made crafting accessible to a lot of women and men. Yes. I remember the episodes with a very young Tim Holtz.
I know I have learned so much from watching RUclips and so many people sharing how to do things, the different techniques. I started as a scrapbooker and using a cricut. Then, a few other crafts and then mini albums. Now I am trying cards and using stamps and inks. I get so inspired.
Love Carol Duvall! The first time I saw heat embossing was on her show back in the mid to late 90s. I've been hooked on this hobby ever since! It was so nice to hear her name brought up again! ♥️
Wow, being 80 I remember it all, well, at least most of it. When you mentioned Gruenig, Weinberg, Duvall, the memories flooded in. And the booklets, how many of them did I own at one time. Thumbs up.
I enjoyed this conversation so much! I’m appreciative of all the sharing. Jennifer taught me how to organize and so many things. I wouldn’t be a card maker without her inspiration. Tim, I’m so happy for you. The lives and connections with you and the makers, it’s brought so much joy. You have no idea how thankful we are that you left accounting and went for the job at Ben Franklin… you are amazing and I’m thankful for every moment you share with us.
Another FIVE STAR ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ conversation!!! Thank you Jennifer and Aaron for putting these videos together. And thank you, Tim Holtz, for sharing your story with us! Look at all we have because you were able to convince someone to think outside of their box! Thanks for your imagination!
Thanks for the replay of this live. It's so great to hear the 3 of you talk about "back in the day" history and then what's happening now. I'm focusing on developing myself as a fine artist, but I still love paper crafting (always will) and all kinds of mixed media. And I'm also proud that there are so many high quality American arts and crafts & art supply manufacturers that produce some of THE best products in the world! This year, in fact, I have made an extra effort to buy from American-based and American brands (or mostly American-made) as well as other much-loved international brands that I know I can trust who practice ethical trade & employment and who also make sure their products are consumer safe. We can always buy the cheap stuff or the illegally copied stuff...and we will save money, but there's a cost for doing so that is incalculable. Thanks much for all you give to the creative crafting community and your ongoing support for innovation, positivity and inspiration.
Thanks for sharing your back story Tim. I was a programmer before I had kids. When I returned to the marketplace I ended up being the electronic systems specialist for a very unappreciative bank. I live to make cards and craft with my granddaughter and my friends. Creativity is my therapy. Those cards bless senior citizens who are often forgotten. Thanks for the Crazy Dogz, Catz, and Birdz. I still use them once in a while.
Oh gosh..... Where to begin.... In 2004 we opened up our store and I was introduced to Tim Holtz Distress ink pads. Man how much I adored those inks. I still have the originals, cause of course, I had to collect them all because of the properties. And yes, I fell in love with all Tim Holtz stuff. Doing the 12tags of Christmas, for me... Yeah, well, it was, like a wellness is to someone else. Anyway, I want to say Thank You All for inspiring me then and still do. You have brought so much to the industry. And still teaching us all today. I loved to hear your story Tim. I didn't know any of that and find it so funny and sweet. Thank you Aaron, Tim and Jennifer for this episode of "Hanging with Hero Arts"
I started macrame, needlepoint, x-stitch to card making in 1999. I bought House Mouse rubber stamps made by Stampa Rosa and watercolored them and branched to other brands. Eventually bought a Big Kick to save time cutting basic shapes. With a broken wrist surger, I purchased a Vagabond and love it!! I drove to Prescott and sold my Big Kick to a beginner stamper. Bought a Side Kick when colorize dies started. Oh how I LOVE that machine. I wasn’t into Distress products until Tim had about 40 colors, mini pads. Now have them ALL with the reinkers. I took class with Dyan Reaveley in OR because I loved her bright colors and ghosting techniques. I started mixing Distress with Dylusions. I tried Distress stains when I could find them at Tuesday Morning and fell in love with them. Covid came along and I crafted daily n still do. I’ve learned so much on RUclips videos! Jennifer you have taught me so much!! I watched Stacey Park weekly and Scott Pegg for Hero Arts kits. He is full of ideas!! I actually went to have dinner with Scott while I was in NYC twice n crafted with him on a rainy day. Don’t let him slip away from you Hero Arts!!
I have another newbie locally here in Northern CA. I’ve turned her on to Colorize dies, inks, oxides, spray stains and micas. She is now totally addicted!! I’m keeping the industry going and totally love teaching. Thanks for all you do in the industry!! You have saved my mental health the past 25 years!!
This is one of the best and most enjoyable videos (I watched the replay) that I have seen in many years! I remember the first stamp I bought. I was so excited and then when I got it home, I didn't know what to do with it. Fast forward a few decades, and I have a craft room full of amazing products and the knowledge to use them thanks to people like you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you do for this community!
I have to say that I started with Hero Arts stamps but did a deep dive when Jennifer demonstrated the various ways to use Distress Inks. I was hooked! I thank all 3 of you for my ability to enjoy this creative outlet for 30 plus years! Looking forward to new innovations always!
I know this is a replay, but I just wanted to say Tim is my crafting/creative hero. Thank all of you for taking the time to share all of this history of such an important industry.
This was such an amazing video! Thank you so much, all 3 of you, for sharing your insights, stories, time & talents with all of us!!! We are so fortunate to have leaders like you in our hobby/craft/industry. Long live paper crafting! 🎨💖
I remember watching the Carol Duval show and her guest was Tim Holtz. He came on with a big snowman stamp, and proceeded to show how to make your own stamp pad with many different colors, where the hat and broom etc, of the snowman -with just one impression all the different parts of the snowman were colored! Totally opened my eyes to what was possible!! Thank you, Tim! I’ve explored art for all these years and enjoyed every new horizon!
I loved listening to all of you! Thank you for taking the time to share your stories and experiences this week and last week ❤ I love our crafty community and appreciate the words of encouragement to keep our comments positive. Thank you for all that each of you do!!!
Well Jennifer, you didn't cry...but I did! I am so happy to be part of this wonderful creative and sharing community!!! My joy has grown as my dearest friends have come to be a part of this as well!
I always have to watch the recorded versions BUT this was such a joy!! I love hearing this history but also I am so encouraged to get back into my own creativity by what was said. Thank you!!!
Watching this video was great! I can remember when I first bought stamps and didn’t know what I was doing with them and why I couldn’t stamp with colors. I thought I could take a stamp and use markers and color the stamp and it would stamp a beautiful color stamp. Lol. But it was true! So glad I was not the only one who didn’t know what I was doing. I live in nowhere’s ville Nebraska and where I live there is nothing! You all brought crafting to my house, thank you! Even though I didn’t know what I was doing with my crafting tools I held onto them and now my living room is my craft room and it is full and because you all came into my living room/ crafting room I finally know what I am doing and love it. But watching this is making me laugh until I am in tears! I love crafting and all my crafting brothers and sisters!!! Thank you all Kathy weintz.
Love the story. I too remember the exact moment when my mind was blown with embossing powder melting. It was a Xmas card wreath. Fabulous memory. Love this time with these crafting greats!
Wow! What a wonderful conversation! Interesting, inspiring and heartwarming! Thank you all for your time, and your incredible contributions to the creative industry! xxx
Fun history! I took a few classes at CKU taught by Tim Holtz back in the day. The class came with a kit of supplies, and we made a home decor grungy mirror and it was so fun. I never was into scrapbooking although I had lots of supplies so I enrolled in CKU to learn more about scrapbooking. I learned I didn’t like scrapbooking, but I loved mixed media. That began my journey into mixed media. Over the years I have become a mixed media artist and I got my start from one Tim Holtz class I didn’t mean to take. All the creative Chemistry classes too. Thanks for all the training, tutorials, products, and inspiration over the years. Thanks to all of you!
Thank you so much for this series! I’m so excited about the history of all of you plus the industry! It is all so exciting! I’ve learned so much from watching you Jennifer and Tim , and others. You expand my creative horizons every day. When I turn on your videos I feel like I’m with friends and learning something new every time! 😀🩵🩷
OMG Tim talking! My life flashed before my eyes. Names that I've forgotten,.I am breathless! I will always remember the first time I saw Tim on Carol Duval. I've always been an artist but he opened a whole new outlet for me. I was hooked... I didn't want to make tea cozies or aprons. I wanted to create! He just reminded me how much I need to do my own thing and not follow trends. It's never been my thing. Thank you. I always loved Hero Arts. I used stamps as art tools and Tim brought that up the first time I saw him. Not to worry about stains because stamps and inks are tools, not something to protect and keep clean. Soon my stamps looked like my used paintbrushes. I'm so grateful that I took the time to watch this. Thank you, Tim, Aaron, and Jennifer.
Thank you Jennifer, Aaron, and Tim for sharing more of the history of creatives, making, cardmaking, scrapbooking, paper crafting, etc. I am REALLY ENJOYING this series and hearing so many of your stories and experiences and positive philosophies and importance of connecting with others and sharing ideas, techniques, makes, etc.
Such a fantastic conversation! Thank you so much Aaron, Jennifer, and Tim for sharing your stories. You all are so incredibly talented, inspiring, and encouraging. ♥️
Tim’s enthusiasm is totally contagious! His introduction to creativity 🤯 was a true revelation for him and inspired a future revolution in the crafting industry! 🤎🩶🖤
Great show --- kudows to you three!! I learned about Tim's history and for all 3 of you for your contributions to this industry!! I fit involved at first at a Stampin'Up party at a friends house --- I expected nothing, and walked out with $200 in products!! And haven't stopped since! That was in 2004! I'm still full of joy whenever I craft -- just wish I could stop spending!! I have way too much stuff and don't know what to to with "old stuff" that I love, but will probably never use again. Also, I'm 75 years old! Thank you for putting this show together tonight, and I'll watch for the n ext one. I'm inspired now, and want to go CREATE!! Much love!
After watching last week's Hanging with Hero, I had to watch this one with Tim. Love Tim & Mario. They are inspirational in so many ways. Love watching Jennifer with her techniques. She inspires me to create a well. Love Hero Arts products. I've been using them for 25+ years. I still have all of my Hero Arts wood mounts from back in the day. Thank you for all of you who inspire creativity.
Thank you I am one of those people who has been limited due to a physical disability so the RUclips platform that you guys use has been great in my life so it’s so true that you make a big difference here in Australia 😊👍🏻😮
Loved hearing how Tim got into the industry, great story. What an inspiration to people who have no idea what they would like to do as a career, just keep going and try something new, you may end up loving it like Tim
I finally got to watch this wonderful interview and I am just even more in love with this industry. Tim Holtz you rock. Jennifer and Aaron thank you for hosting this event.
I used to work in a stamp store called Knock on Wood in Allentown PA. It was owned by the brother of one of the owners of PSX. So much of Tim's story is relatable. I remember seeing stamps in the local Ben Franklin.
Thank you all for what you bring to the crafty world. I always appreciate hearing Tim say "You do you". We all have unique fingerprints and we should cherish that each of us leaves our own mark on the world.
I’m really enjoying this series. For many years I was stuck in the Creative Memories and Close to my Heart world and didn’t know of any existence outside. I started expanding my horizons when the pandemic hit and now love watching what all of you do. I’ve learnt so much from you all and continue to do so. These history lessons are invaluable.
Had to watch on the replay, and man, was this an amazing watch! Tim, your story is very inspiring and amazing. To have the blessing of being to hear from all 3 of you, it speaks volumes for this industry and I am grateful for what you have brought to the world of crafting!!! Thank you all so much!
I love Tim’s comment about “Oops, wrong house” where someone enters a video that they know isn’t for them, and proceed to leave negative messages about why it isn’t their thing. This is why I love RUclips. I have a list of people I follow on RUclips, but I have times where “I’m in the wrong house” because they are doing something with florals which isn’t my thing, or I’m looking for a 15 minute video and I realize it’s an hour Live video. But the “wrong house” today often becomes the “right house” later. I’ve decided to force myself to try making cards with flowers, and suddenly I have a ton of unwatched videos for ideas. Or, more often than not, “wrong house” has zero to do with what the creator is showing on the video and where my mind is that day. I love having so many videos out there at my fingertips!
Thank you Jennifer for sharing this video with all of us. I’m an accountant by day and crafter in my spare time. I’ve been doing paper crafts since 1999 and yes their were very few products at that time. I had to be very creative and make things myself, it’s come along way. Paper crafting is my meditation time my blood pressure even goes down. It is definitely my passion. Thanks to Hero Arts whom I have dealt with and enjoy their quality products. Tim I have every colour distress and oxide inks thank goodness for people as yourself as you definitely changed my crafting experiences. I try to think out of the box thanks to you. Can’t thank you all enough❤❤❤❤❤❤
HeroArts is what really first made me crazy about stamping (I absolutely loved and got hooked with the way they displayed the stamp label, I liked them coloured unlike Tim). Tim Holtz is what killed my retirement funds 😝🤣 I am so fascinated by the coordinated and technical way his products are developed and described, I'm addicted to genius and I consider everything he creates genius and "got to have"! Jennifer has taught me such time-saving and smart ways to use products. You are my creative trio and I am so thankful for all that you do ❤
That's so funny about Tim steering away from accountancy b😮because that's what I did my whole life. Didn't take up creative art with card making until I retired 15 years ago. Never thought I would ever be interested in artistic anything. Fell in love with color and different mediums. I was hooked.
This is such a great video. I have loved them :) Its nice to meet the big names and see the Real them, and their love for this industry. So much to learn and appreciate in the diversity of this craft. Everyone can take what they like and run with it. Keep up the good work all of you - you are all appreciated.
What a wonderful conversation. I loved it! I've watched your videos for years, and have always been excited in learning something new from you. So thank you for that. 😊 So interesting to learn about Mr. Holtz's creative journey. I love his products and his genuine passion for creativity. You're both creative rock stars!
My friend and I are so old we couldn’t wait for the new hero art catalogue party at our local scrapbook store. We couldn’t wait for distress inks to come out. You are wonderful teachers. And loved meeting you both in person.
Watching the replay from Australia. I’m loving this discussion with Jennifer, Aaron and Tim. Especially when Tim said: do not apologize for your creativity. Our granddaughter started an accountancy degree, worked in an accountants office, however it was not her scene after four years. She loves to draw and write. She is currently writing a book on-line and hopefully one day hopes to publish. This is her passion and I have been encouraging her to continue to pursue her writing. Perhaps even draw the pictures to add to the book. One day I’m looking forward to seeing her book published. Thank you all for your inspiration in the card making industry but also for your inspiring words to follow your passion.
I can’t express how much I ❤ this live! I watched it as I was taking my first stab at crawling out of a creative slump. Man didn’t inspire me even though not one technique was shared. Your conversation spoke to my soul and gave me a ray of sunshine. Thank you all for being the wonderful sharing human beings that you are!
I’ve been stamping since Jr High. I went to HIA 2X’s w/a stamp store/stamp manufacture. They were incredible shows. I worked & taught in CA B4 I moved to NC in 1999. Stamping has come a long way. I remember when embossing powders 1st came out. Thanks for this vid everyone it brought back so memories. Amy. Apex, NC 🇺🇸
The three of you have given so much to the creative community! This has allowed us to share our creativity with family and friends, co workers and customers, our first responders at home and around the the world, medical professionals and patients, young, old, and everyone in between. Thank you for all for how you have created and tested products for us, taught us how to use various stamps, dies, inks, ideas and more to make them our own; and inspired us to share our own creativity! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
You are all amazing, you cannot begin to imagine how much I have enjoyed listening to all of you talking about the world of crafting and providing inspiration for us. Thank you All so very much
I couldn't make the Live and give it my undivided attention, so I'm watching this evening. I'm SO glad I did because there was SO much fascinating content. I personally haven't tried any Distress techniques . . . because it seems so intimidating to me . . . even though I watch the great teachers share the technique on their Lives. Will I ever be brave enough to try it? I don't know. But hearing Tim's story and the evolution of distress . . . I just might have to go there. LOVE this format and appreciate you all taking the time to share the history/stories with us! And talking about what this does for our (my) mental health . . . whoa . . . you NAILED it there mister!!! I don't know how I would've made it through the pandemic (and 2 years of unemployment) without this community. And even since then ~ since our worlds reduced to a much smaller circle with remote work now . . . it keeps me connected, informed, and feeds that 'creative' within me.
If it weren’t for Tim and Jennifer and Hero Arts I would be a miserable lady lacking in expressing my creativity and have no outlet for my creativity. Big hugs and love to all of you. Thank-you for the courage you had to step out of industry lines. I still remember the first Tim holtz video I watched with his ink pads. I was in awe….literally❤😊
It is great to hear Jennifer, Aaron and Tim sharing their experiences in where their lives in the creative field has led them!!! I have been using many of the products from each one for years... and have seen the whole creative industry change to what it is today. I have to give a special shout out to Tim though..... as it has been his RUclips videos showing how using a product can be done in so many different way....that has given me the confidence to try new styles, ideas and products. Thank you one and all!!!
Oh that was so wonderful to watch! I'm so enjoying these 'Hanging With Hero' episodes. Thank you Aaron and Jennifer for bringing these to us. This glimpse into the birth of this creative industry is just so special and I so enjoyed learning a little more of Tim's journey today. Three absolute treasures in our industry, sharing, inspiring and caring for our community. I have loved for a long while Tim's take on encouraging our own creative expressions and owning our own path and encouraging others along the way. I feel like this is one of the few industries that really gets that helping someone else 'up' along the way, doesn't diminish you or take anything away from you, but rather benefits all. There's room for us all and all our creative expressions. I love the inclusion and positivity. Thank you all for today xoxo
Wow, what a wonderful talk. It is so true that it has been a great trip. I live in a very rural area, so once I found all these videos, it has really helped open my mind to all that is possible in this craft!❤❤❤❤
I was really looking forward to this. But work gets in a way. I need to watch the replay. So glad I did. Thanks for having this kind of interview. I didn't know that part of Tim's background. Very interesting.
I really enjoyed this on replay. It was interesting to hear how each of you started out. I absolutely love learning new techniques and Jennifer and Tim have taught me so much over the last two years. What I like best about Hero Arts is that many of your stamps include dies which is a great value. You three are awesome! Thanks so much for all you do for the industry!
Love these go along sessions. I have trouble sleeping, and put in an ear to not to disturbe my partner, and look at a session on my phone . Than morning comes and I am all fired up to go and use my stuff to be creative

I NEVER missed her show! That was when HGTV was truly home & garden!

Thank you. We need to support these brands to be sure they stay in business for years and year.
Great video. Love hearing these stories and how people have started in the industry!
Loved watching this so much!! I have been so thrilled to follow this creative journey from the beginning. Please keep on doing you!’❤❤❤❤❤

Wow, thank you! I truly appreciate the history, the wonderful conversation! Crafting is therapy for so many ways!

Loved this conversation and learning the history!
what a fantasitc live! I could listen to Tim all day !
Best crafty video I've watched in a long time. So fascinating. Look forward to catching up with others in the series.
Love the story. I too remember the exact moment when my mind was blown with embossing powder melting. It was a Xmas card wreath. Fabulous memory. Love this time with these crafting greats!
You 3 are my heroes and inspiration! I adore others, but I’ve followed you for a very long time💚

I learned so much. Big thanks to all
Such a great episode filled with so much happiness! Thank you 😊
I finally got to watch this wonderful interview and I am just even more in love with this industry.
I bought every single one of those first “Brown” inks!!! We loved them! I taught classes and worked at a scrapbook store! Yeah Tim Holtz!
So great to listen to you all and how you started, the work and effort you put in is amazing. Xxx
Loved this look back at the crafting industry. Very interesting. Thank you all for what you do! You inspire us to keep creating.
Love your discussion on social media etiquette. Very well said
I love Tim’s comment about “Oops, wrong house” where someone enters a video that they know isn’t for them, and proceed to leave negative messages about why it isn’t their thing.
I like the way you think!
You are my creative trio and I am so thankful for all that you do ❤
Love hearing all this!!!
Love these videos so much, as I am a card newbie. I love hearing this history of the card making industry. Thank you!!
What a wonderful conversation. I loved it! I've watched your videos for years, and have always been excited in learning something new from you. So thank you for that. 😊 So interesting to learn about Mr. Holtz's creative journey. I love his products and his genuine passion for creativity. You're both creative rock stars!
That was awesome! Thank you!
Tim - you would never have come over to a scrapbooking store in Germany. I am so grateful for the good bits that came out of the dreadful pandemic.
You and Carol Duval are the reason I'm a stamper still today. Thank you!
Really enjoyed this Live. So glad I found this crafting community!
WOW, WOW, thank you all of you. It's still great that I can watch the replay because of my work (CA) hours I can't watch live videos much. 😢
I can’t express how much I ❤ this live! I watched it as I was taking my first stab at crawling out of a creative slump. Man didn’t inspire me even though not one technique was shared. Your conversation spoke to my soul and gave me a ray of sunshine. Thank you all for being the wonderful sharing human beings that you are!
just got to listen on my walk today and found myself smiling the whole way!

Great interview, thanks guys.💟
Wish i could give a million likes! Been so much fun hearing the background stories. Been stamping since the 80's love it! Carol
This is a great series! Tim is so personalble.
I so enjoyed this whole program❣️❣️Jennifer and Tim are two of my favorite crafty people ❣️❣️❣️
I was really looking forward to this. But work gets in a way. I need to watch the replay. So glad I did. Thanks for having this kind of interview. I didn't know that part of Tim's background. Very interesting.
Wonderful discussion with you 3 fabulous people!
Great video!!! Thank you for doing this.
Really loved hearing about Tim’s crafting history and about how the various crafters support each other.
