I saw a similar technique of inking scrap pieces of paper on a video. She puts them into a used shoebox and spreads several inks and sprays on her offcuts. This helps reduce the waste on the inks. Very vibrant and eye catching colors.
Oh!! Like put all in the box at the same time and the. Spray rather than each one by itself you mean? Or put them in and inks and sprays and then smooshes them around? Spose could try both!
@ManleyMadeMinute Yes put them all in a shoebox. Use what ever you chose. She just adds all of her offcuts scraps in the box and choses her sprays. Also left over water from cleaning the watercolor brush is used as a spray as well on lighter pieces to add dimension.
@@Saundra7 I think I saw that, wasn't it @Luisa Heinzel? If Not she did something very similar. Just ran into this video, im new to all the smoosh and spray too, fun fun. I do junk journals though and im a Tim Holtz addict! LOL Happy Crafting! :D ( I gave a follow).
Well, I just bumped into your channel. Serendipity. I’m having so much fun watching you. I don’t make cards, I make Junk Journals. I love your craft papers for junk journals. So much color. And I love crumpled papers! Did you say you’re kinda new with your RUclips channel? You’d never know it. I’m maybe your newest subscriber. But I give it 2 minutes and someone else will be joining you too. Lol♥️♥️♥️ Edit: There were 2.4K views on this video!!! Come on people! He deserves a thousand or so of you to subscribe. Lol. I hope word of mouth spreads around for you! Loved your cards.
Omgosh! You are so sweet! Thank you so much! Yes just been on RUclips since like November but just having so much fun with it! Even love editing the videos and learning all that too!!
Hey thanks for watching! I have more experimentation to come too. Really wanting to do way more mixed media. Getting some products going to do more. Just get them opened and go for it!
If you place distress glaze over the piece it will remove the chalky look from the piece… kinda like Vaseline 😂 Loved your vid and cards created. Thank you, your new subbie!! 🎉✨💜👍🏾
Loved the video. Great idea to use the brown packing paper. I seriously think you should at least take some time and lay the new pieces you made today on 5 x 6.5 or 5 x 7 cards. Leave them alone for a day or two. Make some more brown paper "smooshers" (I just made that up, can you tell???) or play with some other crafty items. Look at those "on the side" pieces every now and then. After you've looked at them for a day or two, then decide. Do you still want to cut them for an A2 or go for it and use both full size pieces on bigger cards? If it were me, I KNOW I would be sorry if I cut them to fit an A2 card just for the sake of making an A2 card. You don't have to follow card size rules! I'm anxious to see more as I too am digging today's "smooshers"! Right on!
Really liked your ideas with the mixed media and in a different way I had to take my craft wrapping out of recycle inside . Will definitely have a go your way - thank you for inspiration
Thank you! I am just 😮😮😮 this video is taking off. Thank you for watching! Definitely working on my next mixed media card. Any suggestions on products encouraged!
I love the heat tool, as it is not only hot, it’s quiet! I will add fluid matte medium onto a gel plate and press my inked paper into it, keeping it from smearing. Love your examples. . I wanted something fun to do this evening and this project fits the bill, so thanks for the inspiration, Shawn. (Is this the correct spelling?). BTW, I avoid distress inks for stamping for the obvious reason. In addition to Archival inks, you may want to try Versafine or Versafine Claire inks, for they are great with showing detail with some stamps. Keep on playing and experimenting. You’ve got this! I need to go dumpster diving, so I could find such a perfect weight! LOL I have a very heavy old book….

Came across your video and appreciate your taking the time to explain and show variations you have done. May I suggest when drying paper with the heat tool you hold it up off of the mat, it should dry faster😊
The overly dark focal cluster rectangle you can re-stamp with clear embossing ink and cover with white embossing or gold embossing powder! Don’t cut it or throw it away Shawn?!/Sean?! New to your channel. Great cards made; thanks for posting!! 🎉✨💜

Hi there! I'm new to your channel, but love what I'm seeing! I've seen the crumpled craft paper under tags & journal cards, but not on greeting cards! (I do both.) I have the sprays, but not the ink pads. Or the glass mat! That'll be in the future! Thanks for showing us something cool!!
People who are learning are so much fun to watch. They have energy! And ideas! Your finished cards are little works of art. So glad you didn't mess them up by plopping on a sentiment. A thought on card size: A2 cards are the size the craft industry has married itself to because it fits standard American paper. It's not exactly a luxury size. Make big cards! Handmade cards should feel like a gift, substantial in the hand and on display. You will never regret making larger sizes.
I agree, I personally like A6, A7 and I LOVE 5x5's. I never understood making a tiny A2 card, it takes the same amount of work. When I send or give one away, I want them to be able to see it!
Hi , just found your channel. I was hooked as soon as I saw what you were doing. Enjoyed watching you just experiment 🎉 You might want to try TH's Distress Glaze. Seals the ink while brightening the colors. No dry time, no tools and no clean up. Surface will be ready for whatever you plan next - stamping, writing, painting, collaging etc. Thx again
@@ManleyMadeMinute I'm on a budget so instead of texture pastes I add baby powder/ talc to what ever paint I'm used. You can make it as thick or subtle as you want. Works great for me. I also use lots of "bits" those pieces of everything that you just have to keep, "in case". Thx for the reply, you're a doll. Just watched your watercolor video great stuff.

Happy your channel just popped up on my home feed. These are great! I’m a gonna try it now! Did you ask about card sizes in your video? I see comments discussing sizes but don’t recall if you asked 🤔 Regardless, I think the card should match your art rather than making your art fit a specific card size. Whether tiny weenie or extra large or anything in between, I think people should make it how they want it. I personally like yours as you did them. Now off I go into the rabbit hole of your previous videos 😂

I have been a stamper for 35 years. I like your technique a lot. You would benefit greatly if you "conditioned" your stamps. They would hold more ink and you wouldn't have to stamp 3-4 times to get a crisp dark image. And buy refills to keep your pads juicy as well. Dry pads suck. LOL
