Probably one of the best corsa d diesel engine timing chain replacement videos I have seen. All parts and steps involved explained very clearly. Well done young man!
People asking where the crankshaft hole is, if its not in the position as in this video you will find it next to the crank sensor. Look at the front of the engine from underneath the car at the flywheel side, you'll see the turbo and a pipe coming from underneath it, you'll then spot the crank sensor plug on the engine block, to the left of this (looking up) you'll feel a slot in the engine block. The pin goes in this to locate the flywheel timing hole. Thank you to Ignition Advantages for this video. I've recondition industrial engines previously but never anything like this. This video has been invaluable. Thank you.
Finished my 1.3 fiat qubo today practically same engine.. for anyone watching my crank timing plug is 3/4 the way up the bell housing under the turbo.. not a very nice job at all chain snapped but no damage maybe I was lucky thanks for the video
Job completed, quite interesting in the end... couple of broken rockers.... snapped chain... worn chain guides etc..... still... so far so good.. timing was interesting, as it's not timed at TDC!
My wife's Corsa 1.3 diesel has done over 152,000 miles with no work on the engine ever, just regular oil and filter changes never used a drop of oil great little engine
Don't use oil with metal additives, it cos clogs up the dpf permanently. Regeneration won't be able to remove the metal particles stuck there. The oil level is always high because during a regeneration the diesel from the cylinders swoops down the oil, through the piston rings. More regenerations, more oil in the engine. But it's oil contaminated with diesel so beware
AA don't know jack It's amazing that fiat thought to design the followers to snap (they are designed to rather than bend a valve) because they knew the chain would snap at regular intervals, they should have used a duplex chain
The uneven sound of the starter motor is a dead cert for failed cam timing. A new sump costs under £30 so just wedge it off while being careful with the alloy main bearing frame. Oil pump pick up is underneath so best to avoid wrecking that. ;-)

The timing for the crankshaft is under the car between the engine and gearbox. There is a little hole you turn the engine till tdc the insert that pin. If cam tools don't align the you have to turn engine till next tdc. A spring on the pin goes on the gearbox to hold it in place

@@redoxredox1190 This chain is not expensive.
With my present knowledge, I would change it.
But everyone has to decide for themselves.
The change is also a lot of work.
Our chain broke without a sign..... at + - 2200 rpm 😞
Do you actually know what you are doing mate??
No clue at all
Hy, how could we put the timing correctly if we have the engine out of the car and there is no flywheel to block?? When we have the engine into the car, it's easy to put the timing correctly but with the engine out as well as the flywheel, then we can just put the camshaft timing but the cranck....??? Please help!!
JJ sam, is late now for this, but the hole for the pin rod (6mm), it is near sensor, tomthe front of engine. Today I,m confronted with same problem ,,where is the hole for block the crank. Sory for my english, is not me all day language.
i have replaced like 20 of these chains all around 100000km sometimes less, gotta be one of the worst engines that fiat made
My fiat engine 1.3 it's a 162 400 km but i am not change chain never and engine is very good , do i have to change or not , i don't khnow about it just when i watch this video ??
Nah, mines done 140k miles, regular oil changes, it's as sweet as a nut.
They only tend to go when it's in a vauxhall..
Engine good enough if owner care about vehicle.
Just pour maintenance, because mine and many other haver over 200k km on original chain, just do proper oil changes and use proper oil.
What a dreadful engine. One to stay clear of.
are these 1.3 fiat engines reliable ? anyone know ?
Q!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hit and Miss, so that would be a no, some good one's and some bad, oil quality seems to be important, my brother's does a regen every day so that's going to hit on oil.
@ferkemall same as an audi engine. 2.0 tdi 100k and you need a new belt.
@ferkemall my engine has a 162400 km but i never replaced this chain but not break until now hhhh
I think the quality of oil and maintenance are very important i do all thing in my car myself change the oil every 3500 km only (5w30 synthetic) not more km just 3500 km i change it ...
@@redoxredox1190 If I did the same, then I would have to change it every three weeks...
£1000
Hi decent vid btw, was just wondering if you knew if the 2015 Vauxhall combo van 1.3 cdti bends valves when the chain snaps? Looking to buy one what’s snapped you see. Cheers
Never buy these cars too small an engine for a diesel
