Thank you Jeff for explaining in detail what it is you do to create your steps. Most people on youtube, will only show so much in how they do it, but you explain why and how , which is awesome. You're the best
I'm surrounded by "intellegent" people everyday. They couldn't accomplish this task if they watched this video 10 time's. Most cannot hang a picture. I thank God for my blue collar dad and being raised in the country. He taught me how to build or fix almost anything. Mainly through putting me to work with him. Awesome channel
Yeah this country couldn’t run without Blue Collar hard working common sense country folk ! We are raising a generation of idiots that are dumb as a box of rocks.
I like these vlogs, learn something new everday watching these videos. and I have to mention that Jeff yet again steals the spotlight with those big ole guns. Man is sexy as hell. Probably just turned 70, looks 30 years young.
Man you got my vote for master Craftsman any day of the year love these videos. Thanks for your time I know it slow you down talking and slow everything. Great job Jeff🏆💯💯💯💯👍🏽
Thats 100%true I can fugue and cut any roof. But never have done a set of stairs. But honestly now after watching this I have a better understanding of how to do it. I'm sure I could fugue it out now if I had to.... might need a couple of extra 2x12 but I would get it done
Thanks for the progress the build coming along nicely wonderful job showing the rest of the world how it's done thanks for your time God bless you and the whole family
Great job. Stanley makes stops that attach to your square that work awesome for laying out your steps, you just slide them down to the measurement you want and tighten them up and your ready to go.
"working class" "blue collar"... Being a functional man or woman means knowledge AND ability on quite a few subjects. Funny how so many have lost sight of that.
For those of y'all not in the know, down heah in the deep south upscale homes built in the latest 1800s and through the mid 1950s had that fan Jeff has mounted facing downwards through the ceiling in a central location such as the front hallway and at night times, with the windows opened, bedroom doors opened and that fan running it would literally cool the sleepers off to the point they needed a sheet and sometimes a blanket even though it might be mid 80s F at night and humid as efff... That fan came from an attic of a century old house most likely and make the best shop fans you've ever seen !!!..
I cut stair stringers all the time. I think you say it right but might be an inch off on your marks for top tread. I'm probably wrong. It's fun to watch work when I'm not the one performing.
To simplify lining up clamp a straight edge to you marks on the roofing square. That way you can slide it along you stringer and get each step exactly the same without referencing marks each time. Just flip it for opposite side.
I'm curious, Jeff, how long have you been planning this project, and how are you affording it in the midst of supply fiasco? Building materials are outrageously priced right now
In metric we work from 2 rises plus 1 tread equals 600mm. Basically a six inch rise and 12 inch tread is perfect though rarely does a set of stairs work out just like that.
Little tip and this is a superior way and it’s Kountry . Take a pice of plywood with with a square corner cut it 14” up the 8 ft side and 14” on the 4 ft side. You now have a triangle you nail a 1x2 cleat to it with your 6-1/2 and 10 then just slide it as you mark it . Way more accurate I did that when I lost my framing square 20 years ago I got a new square but still use the corner of the plywood way more accurate and faster.
What mosta y'all don't understand is that he talks the way we all talk round heahs and we understand one another perfectly while the come heah folks can't, don't, and won't grasp our dialect for many yeahs...
He said pressure treated around 1.25. He may have a trade thing with the lumber yard to trade his stuff for pressure treated. But once inside he will use his. Inside stairs ,cabinets, and stuff.
They can't chance it! Jeff and Hannah's channels have already been threatened by demonetizing and possibly taking down if they showed the poor-sensitive children the skinning and processing of animals for their food! !!. Can you imagine the trauma they would suffer if allowed to show metal ripping through fiber of their most huggable tree? Jeff was pushing the envelope when he showed videos of The Sawmill!

Or use a pair of stair gauges
💥👌👏👍🐝
Moses wishes Jeff would have been around to help with the ark!
Don't make me learn something new Jeff. For every new one, a old one gets pushed out and forgotten.....
we use 7" for ideal rise of stairs 2 risers 1 tread should be no more that 25" some cities use this as code I've worked from NYC to Richmond Va.
What mosta y'all don't understand is that he talks the way we all talk round heahs and we understand one another perfectly while the come heah folks can't, don't, and won't grasp our dialect for many yeahs...
I'm learning more from this guy than my own dad. Fuckkkk
👍🏼
How did you learn all this?
Zadddddyyyyyyy
And do you have to put a kick plate could you just put like a cut lattice to put in there
You need some bad boy stair guages
We don't end our last step on the finished height of the floor, It wouldn't have passed code here.
**NEVER SEEN ANY 1X TREADS!!!**
are these boards pressure treated? these the boards you milled?
He said pressure treated around 1.25. He may have a trade thing with the lumber yard to trade his stuff for pressure treated. But once inside he will use his. Inside stairs ,cabinets, and stuff.
