It's been a while since this comment was posted, so I'll add that the music videos for Saturday and The Outside tie into the storyline saga, and should be viewed in that order after Shy Away and Choker.
I have yet to hear a bad song from TOP or two songs that sound the same!! They are so unique. Tyler is a genius, that’s for sure.
If you want to hear more of Tyler's fast rapping, should definitely check out Ode to Sleep - great song and an amazing video to boot. He also has a notably beautiful singing - would recommend his cover of Can't Help Falling In Love.
Also, second verse here is likely a reference to a song you already had heard, Ride, which comes earlier on the album (and yes, this is the same album that has Stressed Out). In Ride, Tyler references three lists - the list of people you'd die for ("I'd die for you, that's easy to say/We have a list of people we would take/A bullet for them, a bullet for you/A bullet for everybody in this room"), a list of people you'd live for ("I'd live for you and that's hard to do/Even harder to say when you know it's not true"), and he finishes with, "All these questions they're for real/Like who would you live for? Who would you die for?/And would you ever kill?" So it's believed in the second verse here in Lane Boy, when he says "But let's backtrack, back to this/Who would you live and die for on that list?" he's calling back to Ride and given the context of the rest of this verse, the list "no one wants to think about" is the list of people you would kill for.

I realize you’ve got a lot to cover but I wanted to mention my favorite song The Outside off their latest album, Scaled and Icy-it is along the same lines as this one topic wise, I think you’ll really like it!
These are great! One thing i would like to add, as the father of an 11yo daughter, i find TOP to be amazing. Not only is it easy to enjoy them on the surface, but when you dig in, as you have, they are even better! As a clinician, imo Not only does the music have hope but the messages of staying true to who you are, persevering and overcoming your inner demons is an ideal message for her. On top of all that, the songs are safe ie no sex, drugs etc, their concerts are amazing and there too they are safe! Love TOP so glad she … i mean we are fans. Her current favorite song, Redecorate. I think you will find a lot of fodder for another review within it. Enjoy.. and thanks.
Another great reaction! These guys are pretty infamous for being amazing live. At some point, check out either Holding on to You or Trees live at Fox Theater. Both great performances. Looking forward to the next one!
HeavyDirtySoul is my favorite song by them. Lyrics, rapping, music are all on point and catchy AF. Totally check it out.
I think Ode to sleep would probably be the next song you should do it kind of shows how they started. TØP is a band that none of thier songs sound alike but all of their songs are distinctly and recognizably them which is kind of a contradiction. I will get you a good Playlist for what songs to do. And I got NF tickets was curious if your going to go to his concert this summer? And did you notice that fame and success bowed to them at the end. 🖤🔥🎶

you should just listen to their albums in order, because each song there is a story, fairly local, trees, lane boy, stressed out, ode to sleep, ride as beginning, heathens, heavydirtysoul, whole trench album, chlorine and whole new album, they are just awesome (even the oldest staff with kitchen sink, etc.)
SORRY this comment is sooo long, but i really think it'd help with lyrics (his lyrics are cryptic and metaphorical), so i really hope you read it . Also note it's personally gathered studying his lyrics, interviews and public life. Tyler never outright said this. Just my personal observations. So, starting with old stuff then new stuff helps see the evolution of his music and his mind. As you journey from past to present, there are a few themes that reflect Tyler's inner world over the years. Here are 5 recurring themes in his music (there are more than 5, but these are most recurring)>> #1 suicide mentioned ALOT ALOT ALOT (his social platform is suicide and the phrase shouted by fans is ""stay alive"")
#2 nighttime is bad torture and morning/daytime is saving and good (in reality he does struggle with nighttime..)
#3 psych turmoil (his mental health struggles)
#4 demons (which btw connects 1-3 when he references them;;; nighttime torture/psych torture/suicide). This theme is interpreted 2 different ways by fans. Some fans think they are just ""psychological demons"" and that he is just referring metaphorically to psychological constructs. Other fans say they are literally demons, spiritually speaking, that taunt his mind. #5 religious doubt and guilt... The further back you go ((there are more albums before "Vessel" album, and it's super heavier in beginning albums)), the more God centered his lyrics. His beginnings were really full of God/doubt/guilt. However over time it's lessened upto recently where the God topic is barely ever mentioned. It is still referenced BUT just a little. I assume maybe he's resolved that somehow? ****so those 5 is what i personally have gathered but Tyler never said this is the case. It's what I've gathered studying. ***** Commenters saying start at Vessel album and i agree. Just note that there are prior albums before Vessel that are "super heavy" and strongest with these themes....

Twenty One Pilots is incredible. For me they don't have a bad song all the way back to their first album. Their newest album sounds a little different but it's so good. Excited for you to react to more TØP. 😎
You'll never find a Twenty one pilots song that isn't fire. Tyler is the singer rapper songwriter Creates the beats writes the lyrics writes the music creates the beats plays piano keyboard synthesizer guitar bass drums ukulele accordion and many other percussions instruments he also produces their music. Josh is such an underrated drummer's he's amazing. Tyler can rap his butt off lol. He started out doing poetry. Tyler and Josh are both Christian but never rub it in your face. Tyler the singer he struggles a lot with mental health issues depression anxiety self harm and suicide so they have focused their career on that. Stay alive frens is the motto keep going. Anybody else catch how many reactors don't know how big a fan base T0P has? Can anyone pinpoint when they started to be put forward to the masses less? Maybe when all the articles came out questioning the songs speaking of God? Or that their message was having a positive impact on youth. Helping them understand, accept and seek help for their mental health? Or nothing objectifying women, glorifying drugs, sex or drugs? 🤔
The industry's love of money and power it gives them has bit them in the ass here. Same with NF. But on a much smaller scale. They keep them on their labels for the money. They allow their messages with gritted teeth because their slaves to money or mammon. Call it what you want. I personally love it. This song especially. We need to pray and protect talent like theirs. Tyler especially. He's got a calling. But I can only imagine how difficult and even scary it must be sometimes.
