A lot of their songs have a spiritual undertone. Both Tyler and Josh were raised in Christian families. So, there tends to be that duality in many of their songs. This is definitely one of them. You can easily picture him calling out to God asking him to make his presence known.
It is worth watching to the end of the video. The song is over, but the way they thank their audience is so genuine, and then say, “We’re twenty one pilots and so are you.”
I’m a boring old guy that took my two oldest daughters to see TOP on the final Bandito Tour show. I liked the band going in from hearing my kids listen but was not a huge “fan”. That show was the best show I ever saw because you realize from the curtain drop that the entire 12,000 people is the show. Not just Tyler and Josh. The clique sings every song, even at 300 word per minute Tyler rap speed perfectly. His unspoken command of the crowd was among the most amazing things I’ve seen in my entire life. Trees in person at the end is among the 4 or 5 most favorite moments of my life. I recommend going. Oh, also do “Holding on to you” live at Fox
Seeing them live twice, it never goes away at how emotional this is. They do this at every single show and it’s just absolutely perfect. Being able to see this live was just an absolutely out of body experience. He doesn’t just interact with the audience close to the stage either. During both shows I went to, there is a song he chooses (usually around the 4th-ish song) on the set list where he just pop up randomly in the venue. I was HIGH up in the 3rd tier of the American Airlines center, so he had to go up like 3 flights of king ass stairs prob and he popped up randomly near my section. It was so surreal
As mentioned above in a few comments At the end of the show they do say “we’re TØP and so are you” and it seems to me that Tyler is a little emotional. Knowing that what he just did for the fans has the fans reacting they way they were.. he takes it all in for a couple minutes. He’s so genuine and wants to please everyone..
I like that you acknowledge the fans singing along and being able to hear them. If you go to a show, you will realize that almost the whole crowd sings every word to every song they play. Whether it be a small club venue or an arena, the crowd is always audible. Easily the best band to see live by a long shot. They give everything to every show.
Back in 2013 when Vessel came out, one of my buddies had his wife send him the CD overseas to Afghanistan and it really opened my eyes to how deep music can be. He was from Ohio, so he was hyping them up constantly. I was skeptical at first, but half way through the album I was hooked and have been ever since. This song in particular really hit deep. Just that feeling of being alone, constantly praying to God for comfort and strength. At least, that was my interpretation. It was incredibly relatable and really helped carry us through some tough times. Anyways, if you do read this, I'm really enjoying the content. Very articulate and well thought out responses. Earned yourself a subscriber for sure. Also, I recommend checking out the live version of "Fall Away" with Dr. Blum. Their creativity and electric chemistry is really on display in that video. If you wanted to go super deep in your feels, I'd recommend Neon Gravestones. Thanks for the great content and I look forward to watching more of your TOP reactions in the future.
This band saved my life. I’ve seen Trees live twice now, and there’s no way to describe it. Everyone is connected. Time is frozen. All of your feelings happen simultaneously. It is true beauty. I cried my eyes out and now I do every time I hear the song. Their genuineness has given lot of people a tangible message of hope to hold onto.
Tyler wrote this when he was a teenager. It was about his relationship with God. He wanted to hear God’s voice to affirm his faith. Today the song has a new meaning and is why it’s been the closer for so long. The trees are no longer the literal forest, but the multitude that makes up the audience. Tyler isn’t reaching out to a specific individual, but to each tree in the forest.
This is how they finish all their shows and it never gets old! Definitely check out "Holding on to you" at Fox Theater as well for another great live performance.
I've gotten to experience this finale 3 times from different areas of the arenas from nosebleed to pit and have never left disappointed. The boys are entertainers for sure.
@@MzGetThat I would so love to be in the pit!!! My daughter has Aspergers and can’t handle it though but our whole family absolutely loves them. We’ve been to three of their shows and it never gets old!
Something often missed in reactions: for the first 2 minutes every time they show Josh his eyes are closed, looking up, WHILE PLAYING. If that doesn’t tell you what this song means to them not sure what does!
I am 58 and the ONLY thing on my “bucket list” is to see TOP live! This exact song is what made me decide that seeing them is all I need in my life at this time! 😂 Um, you did miss the last part. 😂 (sorry, I am sure everyone has already told you!) Now you understand why I need you to hurry up with their reactions. Not one bad song. It is impossible to pick a single favorite song. Top 20-30 maybe, but not just one.
I started my journey with TØP taking my son to a show and have been completely hooked since! Their Live shows are AMAZING. I will be going to my third this fall.
I've seen them 3 times and all have been fantastic but it was October 1st 2014 that I saw them in Grand Rapids, MI. I will never forget the feeling I got when they were singing "Screen" and we all had our hands in the air screaming "we're broken people" over and over. That feeling can never be repeated. It was so uplifting and one of those moments were you can't help but think, "everything will be okay" truly magical.
Welcome to the Clique! "We're Twenty One Pilots and so are you!" as Tyler says at the very end of this vid. We all sing all the words because we're the 3rd member of the band, according to Ty and Josh. One of many really cool things you'll discover about TOP is that Ty's music is just as much for us the fans as it is for Tyler. And Josh. Catharsis for everyone. As you do more TOP reactions, their infectious joy will become more and more undeniable. Trees is one of my faves of my faves. Loved your reaction!! 💛🔥💛
I remember reading the newspaper review of their first arena show in my state. The reviewer was kind of cynical going into it but raved about the show, the energy, and especially how it was the biggest, and longest song-along he’d ever been to!
I love that you can see the similarities between Freddie Mercury and Tyler. After Freddie died there were good bands but no one that really hit me until Tyler and Josh came along. I love TOP and ad so going to enjoy watching every step of your journey. Tyler had an album he made in high school, No Phun Intended , then selftitled , regional at best, blurryface, trench and Scaled and Icy. Each great in their own ways. Welcome to the clique.
Got my Twenty one pilots tickets can't wait to see them live again. Seeing them do Tree's live is literally a spiritual journey. Tyler Joseph "We're Twenty one pilots and so are you"
I'm 63 and just found TOP a couple weeks ago due to Kurt Hugo Schneider featuring Voiceplay doing a Twenty One Pilots mashup. Voiceplay is my favorite group but TOP has quickly became my second favorite. Voiceplay is an acapella group. They also do TOPs Ride.
Best concert I have ever seen. It’s so overwhelmingly emotional to hear his vocals live for yourself. I knew I had to get pit tickets, especially for this song. They’re a live band that records their music, not the other way around. It’s seriously a phenomenon to witness it live. I’m pretty sure Tyler would have taken how you compared him to Freddie Mercury as a huge compliment.
So after my three shows last week in Atlanta I am in awe!! I stood right below Tyler as he pounded that drum and the confetti fell down over me! It was the best moment ever!!
Yeah they close every concert with this song. He wrote it when a teenager and it's like a prayer (his music sometimes has religious undertones), so a perfect way to end the show. And YES YES YES FREDDY MERCURY!!! The same thought has crossed my mind!!! 😃😃😃
@@AxiomReviewsChannel yeah great minds think alike 🙂!! Speaking of Mecury.. the song you already reacted to "Ode to Sleep" TOTALLY reminds me of Queen's ""Bohemian Rhapsody"" because tyler switches up so many genres within that song, just like bohemian rhapsody.
This is one of those song s that take on a whole new life when you experience only live. It’s a beautiful song on its own, but hearing it in a group of people, jumping up and down, feeling the crying jets after a long, active show. It really feels like new life is being breathed into you. It’s fantastic.
Hahaha!!!!! Smiling!!! Just yay. So fun to see your reaction. Can't WAIT for you to experience it live. LIFE CHANGING!!!!! Tyler and Josh are just unmatched!!! Welcome to the clique! It's an amazing place to be. 🙌😂
So stoked you checked this out! There is no words to describe the feeling of experiencing a live interaction with the artist on a personal level. To be in the moment with them drowning in the music, feeling every note and sound in your body and soul. It's spiritual and captures why music is so powerful! You lose yourself in the best possible way lol🤟 I was in 7th grade when I went to my first rock concert..it changed my life!❤
Welcome to the clique! You are definitely going to enjoy this ride. Please do see them, you will not regret it. There is nothing like the elation you feel at their concerts with what they put into a concert & with the atmosphere of the crowd that appreciates this band more than any other group of fans ever. I could write an essay 😀 but one thing I wanted to point out so you can see where they come from - Tyler & Josh are basically a live band that records because they have to not a recording band that perform live because they’re obligated to. Tyler has said he writes music & albums with a view to how they will be performed live & it is most important to him. In this way I totally get your Freddy reference- I feel Freddy was the same - the live performance, the experience for all was of the utmost importance. I could ramble on forever!! Looking forward to all your TØP reactions
You get it! Big time! I get so excited when people hear and see this for the first time! The whole Fox Theater concert is great. Others have said Holding on to You, but also Goner (Fox Theater version, of course) is amazing.
this is something you have to experience in person - if you listen to that song on the album, there's no way you would think it would be all that during a live show, but they're such good performers they can bring so much energy out - this concert has a handful of professionally produced videos like this one - they're all fantastic
I already loved this song from watching the video, but now that I have seen them perform it in person, watching brings me happy tears. Best concert of my life. Welcome to the Clique!
Omg yess.. I love the fox theater versions of songs.. trees is beautiful. I understand they end every concert with this song. .. you are going to love this journey. I think they so]ing along with every single song . He can point to the crowd and they sing for him if he needs a break lol ..I can’t wait to experience it.he conducts the crowd like an orchestra .. This song is him singing to God as he questions things. .. the ending is soo epic
I would have gotten tickets for 2 nights if I knew they were having multiple setlists. I ended up with the small venue, I’m so excited for that one because it has a lot of older songs. But the other 2 sets looks amazing too. @@AxiomReviewsChannel
Saw them live back in 2019 and this song had me sobbing because I'd always wanted to experience this song for myself. It was an absolute treat and highly recommend seeing them live.
I got to see them in Tulsa in 2019. Last show of the Trench era. I, a 45 year old male, did not know wether to laugh or cry throughout their entire performance. Seeing Trees live was hands down one of the most spiritual and greatest moments of my life!
I literally cried just singing to the song. I only went to one of their concerts (it was my first ever and never afterwards) and I miss it. I want to go back.
That's exactly how I feel about Twenty Øne Piløts!!! I'm already subscribed, but now that I know you feel the way about the boys that I do, I'll definitely be watching and liking and commenting on a LOT more of your videos tonight!! ❤
Definitely have to see them live. Rarely do you go to a show and get every penny’s worth. I saw them on tour after the trench album, the played every single song on that album and like 10 of their classics. That and the theatrics, unbelievable.
Great reaction! It is a perfect ending to every show they do :) I would also suggest Holding On to You live at the fox theater if you want to see the energy from a song in the middle of their set and how it doesn't change the whole show.
OMG! I've never thought about it before, but you are so right about the comparisons to Freddie Mercury. Tyler and Josh have an amazing stage presence and SO much talent. If you're a fan now, then welcome to the Skeleton Clique! :) You won't be disappointed
Oh man loved your reaction so much.. now THAT'S a reaction!!!!!! Welcome to the clique (fandom)🙂!!!! Your "lane boy" and "ode to sleep" videos i wrote the 5 lyric themes that mostly run through their lyrics, so you can understand tyler cause his lyrics not typical. Okay, great reaction you're quickly coming into my fav reactor list 🙂🙂!!!!
Omg I love that you got the Freddy vibe too! We’ve been to 19 shows and I swear I’ve seen some of the all time greats and they put the best show on ever! Start at the beginning of their work and go song by song of each album, if you have questions About blurry face and Dema ask us.
Great reaction! Just got done watching all the TOP videos you have done and can’t wait for you do more. You have to go to a concert. I just went to my first a few weeks ago and it was amazing. I also live in Vegas but I drove down to LA for it. Also if you love live performances you need to check out Nightwish- Ghost Love Score (live from wacken 2013) it will blow your mind 🤯
Tyler was so young when he made this song. He was 17 or 18 when he wrote it? When I found out about them, I wondered why they aren't more popular. TOP does the best live shows. Also listen to the studio version of Trees, no need to put it on RUclips. But the screams at the end, wow. (I was a young adult when Linkin Park was new and I felt that emotion in Chester Bennington's screams also.) My life has been terrible so I have a hard time accessing my emotions, but TOP's music makes me feel a lot, also Tyler's screams.
Your words hits me.. life has definitely been hard at times. Linkin park was my favorite a long time. Chester is still missed daily and always in our hearts.. today twenty one pilots is my go to. The lyrics, the voice, josh on the drums. Just perfect, I love Tyler’s scream too ❤️
This makes me happy and sad at the same time since I just saw them live last night at the House of Blues in Chicago and miss them already. What an amazing show and Trees just gives me chills. Going to see them again on Saturday at a bigger venue. Love these boys so much!
Another awesome reaction thank you. I’ve been to two of their shows and they have both easily been the best shows I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to a few shows in my time. I always find this song bittersweet as it is so good live, but you know it’s the end of the show. Quite a simple song as far as tøp go, but so so good.
Lol yeah yeah yeah 😂😂😂 I went back and watched the last part and I get why that’s a solid pivotal point in the show! Really reflects their love for their fans!!!
Welcome to the skeleton clique!!! Been to 2 concerts and seeing them for a 3rd time in Nov. BEST CONCERTS EVER!!!! I’m 48 and I’ve been to plenty of concerts, but these boys put on the best show and no one has come close!!
Personally, i always saw the handshake and pull up as a recognition of the last line you missssssed but its tough not to miss bc its like 2 secs after all the applauding.,however, had you caught it, i think itd make more sense that the “were tøp and so are you” is a huge recognition of “were together”
Album order with explanations for newcomer fans 🙂> #1 NO PHUN INTENDED (tyler alone made it in his basement young as a teenager). #2 SELF TITLED (TOP begins but josh was not there yet) #3 REGIONAL AT BEST (previous members left and josh joined, making it just the 2 of them and the beginning of a great bro friendship and a future of awesomeness) #4 VESSEL (1rst album when labeled by FUELED BY RAMEN.. so they took songs from Regional At Best, and then removed Regional from circulation...). #5 BLURRYFACE (concept album circling around a character named Blurryface who represents the negative bad guy in his head. Mental health struggles cause of a-hole Blurryface. So MOST , not all, those songs are mental health issues Lyric meanings intentionally multilayered for each listener, either hardcore background knowing fans through to softcore fans unaware of tyler background and his religious/psychological struggles.>> so everyone gets something out of it. Also note that the videos from Blurryface album has red color accents. No coincidence. Red represents Blurryface.) #6 TRENCH (concept album that starts a whole new story era about a dystopian city named Dema that Tyler is trying to escape. It's a REALLY detailed story with plot, characters, setting... like a fiction book or movie, but it's songs. The story is very metaphorical and sometimes cryptic. It represents mental health struggles with an undertone if religious conflict. When you get to TRENCH we will explain story. No exaggeration the story is HIGHLY complex and detailed. So hold off on Trench or you'll get so confused. Great music, awesome music, so some may request trench video trilogy but it's ALL metaphors that you won't get if u don't know background and story. So anyway really depends IF you want the WHOLE pilot experience. It's cool if it's just too much info. You do you 🙂 and if interested when at trench album, we'll explain the whole story and its metaphors, characters etc etc) #7 SCALED AND ICY (continuation of dema story from trench album. More to explain when the time comes 🙂 )
the deeper you dive in, the higher the chance to get theory clikkies might come and do a loredump. it goes far beyond what you get out of just the lyrics and videos anyway ofc depending on how far one want to go down the rabbit hole
17:53 "if im gonna be a fan im gonna be a FAN fan" hah you've officially entered the "casual listener" to "absolutely obsessed fan" pipeline. as someone who became obsessed years ago; welcome
At the end after more than five minutes of screaming and clapping Tyler says alright we're Twenty ∅ne pil∅ts and so are you. You said you're a fan well welcome to the skeleton clique my fren stay alive ||-//
I couldn’t, I was under YT lockdown for one of my prior Tom reactions. I watched it, but I couldn’t do a reaction to it because I like doing first reactions to Tom’s stuff!!!
Best live artist I've ever experienced back in 2019 on the bandito tour. Trees' live was phenomenal. it's one of, if not my favorite song by them. It has gotten me through my toughest time. Seeing and experiencing it live has brought me peace and fulfillment in life🎉❤

Love this part

That’s what separates good shows from amazing shows! Walking in as strangers and leaving with that connection!
I have seen them do this live 3 times and it just gets better and better!
Best two shows of my life. Got tickets to three shows in November. I hope you make it to one!!
I’ll be seeing them soon! For sure!!!
I already loved this song from watching the video, but now that I have seen them perform it in person, watching brings me happy tears. Best concert of my life. Welcome to the Clique!
Thank you!!! 😊
Sing along ** can’t edit my comment
It was awesome!!! I can’t wait to see them live!!!! 😊😊
@@AxiomReviewsChannel same, I’m counting down the days, I got them 4 months in advance.. 19 days to go! Lol
I would have gotten tickets for 2 nights if I knew they were having multiple setlists. I ended up with the small venue, I’m so excited for that one because it has a lot of older songs. But the other 2 sets looks amazing too. @@AxiomReviewsChannel
@@SherryBandito Can't wait for you to see them, too! Enjoy, fren:) 💛
Saw them live back in 2019 and this song had me sobbing because I'd always wanted to experience this song for myself. It was an absolute treat and highly recommend seeing them live.
Oh I am for sure seeing them live soon!!!
I got to see them in Tulsa in 2019. Last show of the Trench era. I, a 45 year old male, did not know wether to laugh or cry throughout their entire performance. Seeing Trees live was hands down one of the most spiritual and greatest moments of my life!
I just saw them in Columbus. Awesome concert. Right up there with Clutch, Tool, and Metallica.
Welcome to the clique! This is my favorite song as well, and I really want to see more TOP videos!
Definitely check out Holding On To You from fox theater as well. That whole show was a fantastic performance.
I’ll have it on the list for the live versions 😊
Also, you should react to Save. The emotion is just ahhhh I don’t think I can describe it
So pleased that you are now one of us. ❤️
this song is beautiful
I saw them live about a week after you posted this. TOP life experience, without a doubt.
That was the reaction i needed. THANK YOU!
Definitely have to see them live. Rarely do you go to a show and get every penny’s worth. I saw them on tour after the trench album, the played every single song on that album and like 10 of their classics. That and the theatrics, unbelievable.
I will definitely be seeing them live soon!!!
Lovley reaction 😍❤️ thanks
Thank you!!! 😊😊😊
Great reaction! It is a perfect ending to every show they do :)
I would also suggest Holding On to You live at the fox theater if you want to see the energy from a song in the middle of their set and how it doesn't change the whole show.
I’ll definitely put it on the list!!! 😊
Thank you!!!! 😊😊😊
Love this show so much!
I can’t wait to see them!!!
You should watch some of their interviews and funny moments too. They are so genuine and funny
Yayyyy I'm so excited seeing this live is absolutely unreal
I loved it!!!
Just perfect, I love Tyler’s scream too ❤️
Great reaction
This makes me happy and sad at the same time since I just saw them live last night at the House of Blues in Chicago and miss them already. What an amazing show and Trees just gives me chills. Going to see them again on Saturday at a bigger venue. Love these boys so much!
They are so damn good!!!!
@@AxiomReviewsChannel You have to see them live!
This really felt like a prayer to me... is it supposed to be? GREAT song, and reaction, of course!
Yeah it’s supposed to be him talking to God 😊
@@AxiomReviewsChannel 🥰❤🙏🏻
Another awesome reaction thank you. I’ve been to two of their shows and they have both easily been the best shows I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to a few shows in my time. I always find this song bittersweet as it is so good live, but you know it’s the end of the show. Quite a simple song as far as tøp go, but so so good.
It’s so inviting! Perfect song for a finale!
Holding in to you live fox theatre please..
We miss you!
“Beat to the move” 12:15
please react to addict with a pen liveeee
I have it on the listb
**cough** you missed the last part! 😂
“We’re Twenty One Pilots and so are you!”
Edit: LOL@ how many other comments already pointed this out 😂
Lol yeah yeah yeah 😂😂😂 I went back and watched the last part and I get why that’s a solid pivotal point in the show! Really reflects their love for their fans!!!
👏👏👏I love this. I got to see them live a couple of years ago and I can attest that they are awesome live!
I’ll be going soon!!!!
It’s a bummer you missed them in LA the last week of September!! But they are touring again next august/September
Welcome to the skeleton clique!!! Been to 2 concerts and seeing them for a 3rd time in Nov. BEST CONCERTS EVER!!!! I’m 48 and I’ve been to plenty of concerts, but these boys put on the best show and no one has come close!!
I will be seeing them live soon!!!!!
TOP live shows are just like this one and more. Matt - have you been to a live show yet?
Time To Say Goodbye
Taxi Cab
Definitely check out “Addict With A Pen”!!!
Personally, i always saw the handshake and pull up as a recognition of the last line you missssssed but its tough not to miss bc its like 2 secs after all the applauding.,however, had you caught it, i think itd make more sense that the “were tøp and so are you” is a huge recognition of “were together”
Yeah I watched it again after and saw that part, it was an awesome way to bring everyone together one more time at the end!
Album order with explanations for newcomer fans 🙂>
#1 NO PHUN INTENDED (tyler alone made it in his basement young as a teenager).
#2 SELF TITLED (TOP begins but josh was not there yet)
#3 REGIONAL AT BEST (previous members left and josh joined, making it just the 2 of them and the beginning of a great bro friendship and a future of awesomeness)
#4 VESSEL (1rst album when labeled by FUELED BY RAMEN.. so they took songs from Regional At Best, and then removed Regional from circulation...).
Red represents Blurryface.)
#6 TRENCH (concept album that starts a whole new story era about a dystopian city named Dema that Tyler is trying to escape. You do you 🙂 and if interested when at trench album, we'll explain the whole story and its metaphors, characters etc etc)
#7 SCALED AND ICY (continuation of dema story from trench album. More to explain when the time comes 🙂 )
stay ALive 🖖🏻
(One more cliques🤫😅😉 😏😎) WELCOME TO THE CLIQUE!!!!!🤩....
Thank you!! 😊😊
They always end that song with: "wer'e twentyonepilots and so are you".
the deeper you dive in, the higher the chance to get theory clikkies might come and do a loredump. it goes far beyond what you get out of just the lyrics and videos anyway
ofc depending on how far one want to go down the rabbit hole
17:53 "if im gonna be a fan im gonna be a FAN fan" hah you've officially entered the "casual listener" to "absolutely obsessed fan" pipeline. as someone who became obsessed years ago; welcome
Start at the beginning with the self titled. You won't be sorry.
I can say that at your 15:31, I did “lose my shit(“ at multiple shows. 😝
They have said that the audience is a 3rd band member.
Johnny Boy.
At the end after more than five minutes of screaming and clapping Tyler says alright we're Twenty ∅ne pil∅ts and so are you. You said you're a fan well welcome to the skeleton clique my fren stay alive ||-//
Thank you!!! 😊 I’m in! I’m loving their work!!!
Please please do stop the world by krizz kaliko
I’m writing it down now! 😊😊
Dude! You missed the last part!
Hey you haven’t done Tom’s newest one America 🇺🇸!
I couldn’t, I was under YT lockdown for one of my prior Tom reactions. I watched it, but I couldn’t do a reaction to it because I like doing first reactions to Tom’s stuff!!!
What ? RUclips lock down ? For what ?
Best live artist I've ever experienced back in 2019 on the bandito tour. Trees' live was phenomenal. it's one of, if not my favorite song by them. It has gotten me through my toughest time. Seeing and experiencing it live has brought me peace and fulfillment in life🎉❤
