Like a number of their songs, "Ode To Sleep" also really touches on Tyler's struggle with his faith. This kind of shines through in that second verse, which is laden with allegories and references to the Bible and religious concepts: ---"On the eve of a day that's forgotten and fake/The start of a day we put on our face" This references the Rapture, how Jesus had said that it would be a day that seems just like any other forgettable day, and by extension people faking their faith to try and escape judgment. ---"I'm not free, I've asked forgiveness three times/Same amount that I denied I three-time MVPed this crime" This is acknowledging both traditional Christian prayer ("Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy") and The Denial of Peter (when Peter betrayed Christ, denying three times that he knew him) and is about constant flip-flopping and doubt of his faith. ---"I'm afraid to tell you who I adore/Won't tell you who I'm singing towards" This is Tyler saying he's afraid of outright telling people how much of his music is about God and faith, including this song, because he's afraid of how it will make him look or how people will react. ---"Metaphorically I'm a whore and that's denial number four" This is nodding towards a more generic and archaic meaning of the word "whore" as someone who is unfaithful on a whole. There's also the part of the chorus where Tyler says, "I will set my soul on fire"; Tyler uses terminology of a "cold soul" as someone who is unfaithful or doubting. He brings this up in one of their older songs, Isle of Flightless Birds, and later uses it again in The Judge. Probably a few others that escape me at this time. Though in the end, the thing with the level of depth to their songs is that Tyler has also always said that he kind of wants people to draw their own conclusions to their music - he always has a specific message and meaning when he writes things and likes when people "get it," but also doesn't want to dictate to people what the song means to *them*. They are doing a small tour this fall where they're going to select cities and spending a week there in small venues and working their way up to the arena - LA and Denver are the two west coast cities If you caught on the last verse they went live and it wasn't the recorded version anymore- that verse is a great verse but it's hard to catch on the live recording bc he's going so fast- a lot of talk about struggles with faith and hiding it in his music
If you wanna see more of him drumming on the crowd, check out the Ride performance from Fox Theater! These guys are incredible and legitimately don't have a bad song.
To go from 12 to 6000 a night with everyone singing the lyrics to probably the hardest part of the song is something I wish I could experience. I'd imagine it's a better feeling then any amount of alcohol, drugs or anything could ever possibly make you feel
Ok loving your TØP reactions - subbed! I really like hearing different POV on these songs- it’s important to know that Tyler actively encourages & writes so that people can take what they get from the song personally. TØP are not a band that records & then does live shows because it’s expected, they are a Live band that records because it’s expected. We saw Tyler and Josh three times on the last tour with 20,000+ people each show. They make you feel like part of the performance. Best live shows I have ever been to in my 50 years on this planet. Driving six hours to see them again in their hometown of Columbus in October!! We love Josh’s drum island! These boys and their music feed my soul. Great reaction friend!
Tyler often talks about how his 'demons' come out at night, lots of their songs talk about his struggles with sleeping and use the daytime as his escape from his dark thoughts. Can be helpful to have the lyrics up as well cos can be hard to hear all the words when he raps fast. I love how they've always played with just as much energy for small crowds as big arenas. Would love to see you check out Car Radio or Holding On To You
Ode to Sleep is a beautiful intro video imo for anyone who would first start watching them. Of course i know its not your first, but your comment of a list journey just made me think of what would make a great intro.. to show not only them young, but also versatile enough to show off josh on the drums, but also show tylers insane quirky ability to use his amazing voice.. this songlyrics/timelapsevid/minidoc just checks off every point for a great intro grab. Just a different animal type of music. ❤️
I became a fan for life after seeing them in concert. Blew my mind!!! I just purchased tickets to The Tabernacle, The Coca Coca Roxy, and State Farm Arena in Atlanta. I will see them three times in one week! Tyler is a genius and so creative. Josh is icing on the cake.
Love that you love them!! That enjoyment smile on your face puts a smile on my face 🙂!! 5 recurring themes in his lyrics. #1 nighttime is torture for him, he's haunted at night and cannot sleep. Daytime is good and saves him from tortured nights. #2 Suicide is his social platform and he sings alot about suicide. #3 he sings alot about demons, demons. They torture him at night. #4 he sings alot of his struggle doubt guilt concerning God. #5 sings about mental health issues he has, he's very tortured.....(this song had 1, 3, 4)... i explain better and clearer in your Lane Boy reaction comment section. His lyrics are not typical and so they can trip people up. Just trying to help, hope I'm not coming across obnoxious 😔...
Also, he compares light and dark and day and night and what they represent in a lot of songs and videos (like Ride, the official music video). It is all related to dark thoughts, faith, clarity, new day, demons, etc...
@@testimusicali6445 I have not bought any yet. If I went I would at least want to take my 9 year old with me and/ or my oldest (22), so it would have ended up costing a LOT of money. I need a fairy godperson (gender not specific, there could be a fairy godfather!) My youngest thought I had alreay bought the tickets and got sad when I said I hadn't. I also don't know if the vaccine will be approved for his age group by then, so... I don't know.
Please make sure to check out some of their songs from self titled album. They are so good! Some of my favorites are March to the sea, taxi cab, and isle of flightless birds. The messages in them are so powerful and they have amazing energy. Love this reaction! Can’t wait for you to do car radio! 🙃
Another awesome top reaction. You seem very much on the right wavelength to appreciate the finer details of their songs, so I do highly recommend you carry on with the journey as I think you are really going to enjoy it. Car Radio is probably a good next choice, but be warned, it’s intense.
In all honesty they sound amazing live which is soo rare but their live shows r unbelievable and even if u can only watch a show of theirs live on RUclips its still amazing they can pull u in n make u feel that energy its hard to describe but I'd say do some live reactions they're beyond epic
Great reaction, great catches! Love that you instantly got it and the appreciation shows on your face as you're experiencing this. Love seeing someone discover TOP's genius. Just subscribed and I'll keep watchin'!! 💛
The “sleep” is supposed to be a metaphor of death or depression or something that’s just really dark and is where the “demons” in whatever form they may be live. The verses is tyler trying to fight these demons off at night and the chorus is him waking up from his sleep to the demons gone.
You’re absolutely right! Trees live is just so indescribably incomparable! I was in awe! Tears of absolute adoration and happiness just flowed like a river from my eyes. I do love them boys! ❤️
Oh wow! I just heard you say you're from Vegas!? Cool! I'm from Vegas! Been here is 1955! Yeah so I've really been enjoying your content. I love Twenty One Pilots and NF. Thank you for breaking the songs down. Really good!
I'm new to your channel. Ill watch your 2 previous TOP videos and I will stay for every other one. You have a great ride ahead of you if you jump into their discography. Boy its a great ride too!
Love these reactions and extended breakdowns you been doing. Keep em up man, I'll be watching every TØP reaction/breakdown you put out as i'm a huge fan. Would also for sure be interested to hear your breakdown of Bo Burnham's songs from his netflix specials "what" "make happy" and finally "Inside" which is an entire masterpiece in of itself, its comedy on the surface but there's always a much deeper meaning to dive into and serious topics to discuss with a lot of his songs. His following is huge now and he's been a trendy topic lately reaction-wise, so you'll be sure to crank some views.
I adore bo with my heart.. so i agree with you. Until inside. I watched it very uncormfortably knowing the sentiment behind it. The pain i knew it would have to express.. i dont know, im very very sensitive and ive personally hated that people are reacting to Inside bc its so anti everything he hates about media and what it did to him... esp having that reaction bit too.. i watched it out of respect for Bo bc he deserved to be heard for once (since cant handle this which was just a nuke on my heart) i dont know. Im just free writing.. but all the blind reactions have been really distressing me. Love Bo. Id prefer to hear someone just pay homage to his early brilliant work.. its funny and innocent plus clever as hell.. so young.
@@HaraQuinn i can completely understand that. inside is different, not really a comedy special, but more of an eloquent representation of the collective woes of our entire generation. it definitely left me feeling weird mentally for like a week straight as someone who's watched him since his early days. cant handle this broke everyone's heart but it was so necessary for him end his performing with that piece. i think he made Inside with the intention of it sparking deeper conversation about the problems he, and many of us have with this constantly evolving digital world that a lot of people use to escape their own reality.
@@ignasias his leaving the stage isnt what nuked my heart.. what hurt me was hearing people cheer him on after he dropped the facade mid song.. declining mentalhealth line, doing the normal bo, but THIS ONE TIME with serious undertone, that he should just shut up and do his silly show.. the cheering when he begins the second mini burrito “joke” is what broke me first. I got whiplash i feel im reliving NOW bc of Inside and seeing it everywhere. So it was something that never healed for me bc i began overthinking more and more how that whole song was set up.. and for instance, realizing that bo had the foreshadow of it going over everyones head, so he literally had to CHOREOGRAPH “if they dont understand it then you run it ONE MORE TIME”... lights designed to go insane flashing and his guttural screams between each “cant handle this”.. then even the smallest thing like after saying “hope your happy”.. they show him almoat deliberately chuck the mic to the ground.. but it cuts right before hitting the ground, to the “make happy” end card.. i have OCD and some other things so i really get into every corner of something that blasts me.. bc i grew up on him, as well, on his page alongside jenna marbles etc.. so, my heartbreak isnt from him quitting. Im actually extremely glad he was able to make the decision to choose himself, over bs of fame and stay true to the Bo Yo, lost inside him.. what distressed me was how nobody close to him maybe recognised he was having bloody panic attacks on stage? Or just seeming even a tiny bit “off”? All that is what bothers me. I also never alluded to Inside as a comedy. I watched it for Bo, but wanting it to end quicker and quicker going through it bc of how he just LOOKED, let alone the content.. the content i expected fully, was no surprise.. like i said, i knew beforehand what it would dive into. Like my god. I know theres serious convos needing to be made about media.. but.. im sorry, i dont want Bo to be that martyr. I just dont. From words words words to this? Its a mothers nightmare with a genius child. And milking reactions, isnt starting any convo, from what ive read in comments. I refuse to watch any of the reactions, but i pause just to see what people are saying. And its the same inane bullshit under every single one. Not a single one expressing a next step, what this means. As you said, this wasnt made to be “comedy”, but its certainly being cut up and butchered to be used for views by people who dont even know a damn thing about Bo. Im sorry, im super mental health awareness.. but im also super IN mental health mentally.. and i get extremely protective when i feel someone id consider in my community be exploited... i can come off aggressive, but i TRULY dont mean to, its only bc i lack filters due to my own mental health which makes my communication very direct and lack “filler good vibes”. I dont know how my tone is going to sound to you, but if any negative emotion is felt, its not you, its from what ive felt and seen around diff channels. 🖤🖤
One of my favorite songs is fake you out. There is only live videos of the song. It really shows you their energy. Also the name Ode to Sleep was picked by fans. They are on a small tour now. I'm catching them for a hometown show in Columbus in October. Caught them in Cincinnati in 2019. They are absolutely amazing live.
I’m subscribing, purely for your tøp journey! Great reaction and love how you noticed so much, you properly listen and watch, which is what you want in a reactor!
So glad you're going on this journey, man. Can't wait for the next one. You should definitely add the song Holding on to You to your list, but if you react I HIGHLY recommend reacting to the Live at Fox Theater version. Way better than the official video, in my opinion, and it's a great example of the kind of energy they bring to a live show. It's from the same album as Ode to Sleep, so another pretty early one!
I love sleep. It really is like reseting all the bull that comes up as the day goes on. Sometimes I want to go right back to sleep as soon as I wake up lol. I agree, I love smaller shows. Great Video 🔥🔥
I really should wait to comment until the end .. they are doing 2 shows in LA and one in Inglewood ..tickets tend to sell out fast. I havnt been to a concert in so many years but really wanted to see TOP I got lucky to get the smaller venue in Atlanta ga. So I’m thinking even a bad seat will be a good seat .. the day tickets went on sale I clicked it the very moment and was still hundreds ahead of me. When looking at Twitter after I saw so many people didn’t get one and were on the waitlist. I thought it was pretty cool they added one extra show in Ohio afterwards so people that missed got the chance again. Of course scalpers are going crazy. But everything I’ve read is they put on an amazing show live .. looking forward to more reactions of them
I've gotten all 3 of my tickets on stubhub last tour, there were still tickets at least within the last week if not the day before and prices tend to go down when it gets close. The first time I paid less than the original price! The other two times I worried they would be all gone so I paid more. Should have waited, not upset that I paid more though, wasn't going to miss out!
@@SherryBandito I'm glad my boyfriend agree to let us use his account to sign up too even thought he's not going, because I got waitlisted and he didn't lol.
Aye Vegas, we need to go to their show together XD I've been DYING to see them. They came near me a few years ago (I was in a different state then) But sadly I couldn't go because I didn't have the money at that time. It is literally on my bucket list though!!
Great Reaction! You're on point! It's a great Video! It's on my Bucket List to see them Live, can't go w/ this smaller Tour but will wait for the next! Glad you're enjoying the TØP Journey thus far! Look forward to more! I'd give Recommendations, but you've gotten plenty as I've seen lol.👊💜
I loved your reaction very much and I would like you to follow the story line what are albums Tyler and Josh help us with their music not to get lost in our bad thoughts and they talk about how these can lead us to suicide if we are depressed, they tell us that always after night the sun comes and that we are going to try again and they to help us Vessel Blurryface Trench Scaled and Icy I'm already subscribed for all of twenty one pilots Greetings and a lot of support from Argentina !!
Car Radio and Heavy Dirty Soul are a must listen in my opinion. They're 2 of my favorites. Edit: kitchen sink and fairly local are awesome too, but to be fair all their stuff is awesome
ik this is an older video know and you may know this already but Tyler has said he doesn't make music to only sound good in your headphones or in the studio but he makes it to sound good everywhere but mainly from your stock car speakers.
Your best bet this time would be The Forum in LA. Resellers have better deals than the few that are left on Ticketmaster. Good chance prices will go down as the show gets closer. I absolutely recommend the pit even if you have to pay a little more. I've been to about 100 concerts in my lifetime and the first two times I saw them they became the top two concerts I've ever been to.
That’s what I’m planning on doing. I’ve made some songs that have helped friends win Grammy’s. I’m planning on playing playing shows to anyone that will listen.
Bruh, they're doing 4 shows in LA at the end of September/ beginning of October. They sold out through ticketmaster fast as hell, but you can still find resale tickets. They ain't cheap though 😂 but for the experience you're buying, it's literally a basement bargain lol! I've seen a lot of artist's live shows and the pilots blew every single other live show experience I've had completely out of the water. Imma be at 3 of the 4 LA shows, looking forward to seeing you there!
Most of what I would have commented has already been said. So, just a general suggestion is that I really suggest doing live show versions of shows/ songs, BUT if you do, I would say to watch the official music videos first to be able to tell the difference in sound and vibe. I have only been to one show, I don't know if I am going to make it to this tour and I'm bummed. However, you get a lot of the same feeling as being there when watching the live videos- not exactly the same, of course. Trees live at the Fox Theater is amazing. Holding on to you from the same show is great, but do the official video first. The whole Fox Theater concert is on RUclips... hint hint... PS Your voice is very smooth- like a DJ of a classical music radio station or a guided meditation CD. :)
when you said hold on a second when he was crowd surfing a drum set I thought you meant is that joe bartolozi cause the guy right before that looked the same
Dude. You gotta get tickets for twenty one pilots takeover tour. They are not playing many cities, so you might have to fly. They play 3-4 shows in each city, starting with small venue 300ish fans and building up in scale to end on Saturday at the arena. Tickets might be pricey but this may be your only shot to see them at a small venue. They played these places years ago before they got big. Sets are different, so if you can, see small venue and arena. If you can't go react to their live show. Plenty of full concerts videos available.
Hi-De-Ho! If I may suggest some Ideas! Reac to, Eskimo Callboy - Hypa Hypa (they are a German Metalcore Band with a genuine sense of Humor in most of theire Videos, you'll enjoy) Eskimo Callboy - MC Thunder 1 & 2 (they are not related to each other, just two different lead singers) Bring me the Horizon - Shadow Moses (since you liked the Motion Camera in Falling in Reverse - Drugs) Bring me the Horizon - Ludens Bring me the Horizon - Kingslayer

@@asdband888 you were thinking of getting nosebleeder tickets (i think $149??) for the concert. Did u decide?
@@testimusicali6445 I have not bought any yet. If I went I would at least want to take my 9 year old with me and/ or my oldest (22), so it would have ended up costing a LOT of money. I need a fairy godperson (gender not specific, there could be a fairy godfather!) My youngest thought I had alreay bought the tickets and got sad when I said I hadn't. I also don't know if the vaccine will be approved for his age group by then, so... I don't know.
Their live shows are some of the most amazing I've seen !
I will definitely be going to them soon!!!!
Watching your discovery of TOP reminds me of my journey with them several years ago! Keep it up! I subscribed!
Also watch Trees live. It's the song they end their shows with.
Please make sure to check out some of their songs from self titled album. They are so good! Some of my favorites are March to the sea, taxi cab, and isle of flightless birds. The messages in them are so powerful and they have amazing energy. Love this reaction! Can’t wait for you to do car radio! 🙃
I relly like your reactions and TOP is my favourite grup. I hope you continue on this journey.
Their energy is unreal in concert! Best live music experience I have ever had.
I’ve lost track how many times I’ve seen ode to sleep video.. it never gets old, I think I love it just a little more each time
Another awesome top reaction.
I probably have already commented, but this was an amazing look at their journey!
Great reaction - can’t wait for more tøp!
Just as others have said, their concert is like nothing I’ve ever seen! Just epic!
You're going to love the Car Radio video! Great reaction.
The “sleep” is supposed to be a metaphor of death or depression or something that’s just really dark and is where the “demons” in whatever form they may be live. The verses is tyler trying to fight these demons off at night and the chorus is him waking up from his sleep to the demons gone.
Very excited for the TøP journey! Looks like you’ve got plenty of recommendations so I’m just along for the ride!
hey, dude.Just watched your reaction toLane boy and came here.Really like your reaction. You gained the new follower.Sup from Russia!Keep it going!
there are two songs that are definetely better watching the live versions: Holding on to you and Trees. your mind will be blown by those two
You’re absolutely right! Trees live is just so indescribably incomparable! I was in awe! Tears of absolute adoration and happiness just flowed like a river from my eyes. I do love them boys! ❤️
Wonderful reaction, hugs from Sweden. Yeah they are amazing, Stockholm show was ghaaah
Oh wow! I just heard you say you're from Vegas!? Cool! I'm from Vegas! Been here is 1955! Yeah so I've really been enjoying your content. I love Twenty One Pilots and NF. Thank you for breaking the songs down. Really good!
Oh nice! 😊 yeah I’m born and raised here!
Looked up reactions to this song again after watching se "when I grow up" reactions because the video for this has the same energy
I'm new to your channel. Ill watch your 2 previous TOP videos and I will stay for every other one. You have a great ride ahead of you if you jump into their discography. Boy its a great ride too!
Twenty one pilots actually writes song with the forethought of how it will be live vs how it will sound recorded.
I'm glad to see how much you like them. Great reaction! More TØP. 😅
Thank you!!! 😊 more are coming!
Twenty One Pilots Are The First Band To See Every Song On Two Albums Earn Gold Or Platinum Awards
Great reaction and love how you noticed so much, you properly listen and watch, which is what you want in a reactor!
twenty one pilots hell yea
So glad you're going on this journey, man. Can't wait for the next one. You should definitely add the song Holding on to You to your list, but if you react I HIGHLY recommend reacting to the Live at Fox Theater version. Way better than the official video, in my opinion, and it's a great example of the kind of energy they bring to a live show. It's from the same album as Ode to Sleep, so another pretty early one!
Love your reaction!! Keep it up man !!
I love sleep. It really is like reseting all the bull that comes up as the day goes on. Sometimes I want to go right back to sleep as soon as I wake up lol. I agree, I love smaller shows. Great Video 🔥🔥
Watched a few now. Even if you have bigger aspirations, therapist is your calling. God bless.
Man, you are such a solid RUclipsr. I can't believe your views are so low! Gotta believe that will change. Keep it up. Love your TOP reactions!!!
Thank you!!! 😊 the views and subscribers will pour in eventually! Just gotta be patient! Haha
@@AxiomReviewsChannel oh, and my wife says she loves your voice. 🤷🏼♂️😂
Great reaction!!
@@katstorm13 I understand this!! I’m so excited to finally see them. I would have paid more for my tickets
@@SherryBandito I'm glad my boyfriend agree to let us use his account to sign up too even thought he's not going, because I got waitlisted and he didn't lol.
@@katstorm13 haha that’s awesome. I felt very lucky to not get the waitlist
Aye Vegas, we need to go to their show together XD I've been DYING to see them. They came near me a few years ago (I was in a different state then) But sadly I couldn't go because I didn't have the money at that time. It is literally on my bucket list though!!
Loving these reactions and looking forward to more TØP!
Thank you!!! 😊 I will be definitely going to a show!!!!
I’m just now getting into this band. I’m kinda doing it with you so you can teach me about them 😁👍🏻
Need react to Live at Fox Theater performance...."Holding Onto You!"! One my favorite, but mostly from that Fox Theater Conert! Great Reaction!
I really would like to see you do more ToP, in this video you got my respect. 👍🤗
Thank you!!! 😊😊 more TOP reactions are coming!
My blood is my favorite ♥️
"My creativity is only free when I play in shows"
Your best bet this time would be The Forum in LA.
I’ll definitely get a ticket then!!!
you should definitely react to ride live at fox theatre, you shall see josh (the drummer) surfing the crowd some more xd
You should check out house of gold and guns for hands. Two amazing songs from them
It’s simple. I see someone react to twenty one pilots, I subscribe. Enjoy the journey. |-/
You should react to holding on to you and trees - live at fox theather
And welcome to the clique 😁

please react to heavydirtysoul, jumpsuit, nico and the niners and levitate. (in that order)
The dandy is a reference to an old pastor
when you said hold on a second when he was crowd surfing a drum set I thought you meant is that joe bartolozi cause the guy right before that looked the same
Hey! Where did you go??
Pretty nice clique 🖤
