I absolutely loved Disaster Transport as a kid. It was the only air conditioned coaster and the lines were always super short. But there is quite a bit of lore in this coaster which I always enjoyed. Also the "Welcome to Alaska" was your shuttle accidentally crashing into Alaska and was a nod to the previous ride, but was not where you were supposed to go.

Dave is actually back in the park permanently! He's stationed in the Gatekeeper gift shop and programmed with new lines!!

This was a potentially really cool idea. The queue theming looks great, would actually make it fun to stand in line. Ride theming, well, it could have used a little more work. Imagine what Bill Tracy could have done with a ride like this.

Omg this is my childhood. I rode it for the first time opening year 1990 with my father. I can’t thank you enough for this upload. Where did you find some of the older footage of the ride, like with the projection screens operating?

Same here!!! We probably rode together! Loved this silly ride especially on a hot or rainy day (before gull pee even caused it to leak hahahaha)

Awesome footage and great video. The "repair bay" room had parts to the shuttle moving above you, not luggage. The "reject" light was on the parts scanner as they moved in front of the sensor in the cages giving the impression that all the parts used for the shuttles had been rejected.

For years before it was torn down it was just a dark ride. Like literally dark, other than the lift ,with none of the effects. I rode it in the early 90s with the audio and projectors and I loved it.

I always loved disaster transport. But this is the first time I realized that in the switch from avalanche run to disaster transport it was just a building added. I always thought it was a full retrack, I never knew I went on a "trackless" coaster

Thank you for making this. I sometimes go down a Disaster Transport spiral only to come up with nothing, but this video actually had a lot of good information and videos. Thanks!

Nice video. Disaster Transport was my favorite ride as a kid. The air conditioning was also a nice break on a hot day.

My favorite ride. Half of the things that were supposed to run wasn't whether it was the audio or any of the animatronics.
Towards the end, they painted a wall in the queue, if I remember, there was a forklift in a warehouse. I remember looking at it while in line and seeing all the inappropriate things painted on (had to look hard) which the following year had the bad stuff painted over. I don't even remember what the inappropriate stuff was but I think one thing was the forklift license plate had "666" as the license plate but I could be wrong.

Thanks for posting this. I grew up less than an hour away and absolutely adored this ride. Had season passes and it wasn't uncommon to go 3+ days a week.
My son was even able to ride this and loved it and my stories about all of the effects, ques, animatronics, and video screens that USED to work lol.
I was born in 86 and rode the piss out of this ride.
There's some photos on Reddit and more info on it too. I would love to see another video on this as well as maybe the Bernstein Bears attraction with the spooky hill and the tree slide? (I SPELLED IT CORRECTLY LOL)
Or the Pirate Ride that used to be earthquake?
    Just a few thoughts!
Thanks again and I definitely subscribed!!
