I’m going in October, going to have four days here. Doing a week long trip to the Tuscan hill towns with hiking and wine tasting before arrival. Should be a great time of the year to go.

is it advisable to book train ticket ahead or its easy to buy in the train station on the day of travel?
I would say search online the day before but should be able to get a same day ticket also. Summer months are much busier though so doing a little preparation ahead is advised

You lost me when you mentioned the Uffizi as an aside, not worthy of any specific coverage. The Uffizi - one of the most important art museums in the world.

We have repeatedly seen and heard about tourists being deliberately trapped and fined 40 Euros on buses in Florence, with some instances even preventing them from validating their tickets at the yellow machines. The ticket inspectors are very rude, threatening to call the police. This makes me wonder if traveling to Florence is worth it.
