i love how casual and natural this review is, no in depth analysis, no tech nerdy stuff, just a regular human being enjoying games and sharing how good / bad the experience is
Thank you! I am technical person, but I like to focus on the genuine overall experience in my reviews. It's all about enjoying the games and conveying that feeling for me. I'm glad you appreciated the approach!
Been playing Helldivers 2 for the last 2 weeks on the oled Steam Deck and haven’t had any issues. Experienced lag maybe twice over the 36 hours I have in the game. Not bad for a handheld device!
With the armor bonuses, I hope at some point they do things differently, and use the helmets as well, like that one helmet with the little mandolorian viewer, give the player like a thermal vision or something marksman related, would be cool t9 mix and match bonuses, maybe for engineering armor, give a extra turret stratagem or something l, so many things they can do
They could add helmets that let us breath gas strike gas, see with thermal, improve our armor slightly, add radar range, ping targets behind us, so many things they could do with it!!
Thanks dude. I was on the fence. This video convinced me. I just ordered a Steam Deck. I used to be PC gamer until about 5 years ago when life and a blown PSU convinced me to go xbox. I have about 1500 steam games gathering dust and still live the xbox I het the itch to play PC games like WoW, LoL, HotS and games not on Xbox like Helldivers 2. It should be here in 3-5 days... Cannot wait to play Hell Divers 2 and Manor Lords.
awesome, congrats! glad it was helpful! the steam deck is amazing. I have the ROG Ally and Legion Go, but the Deck is still the best rounded handheld gaming device right now in my opinion. Helldivers is great on the deck, haven't tried manor lords yet though
Thanks for this as a fellow dad and helldiver I have been considering getting a steam deck to try and get some more gaming time. Still on the fence but nice to know game still plays well on a steam deck.
I play on steam deck. All settings on low with particles effects on because i had trouble seeing gas strikes. I also as well have it set to performance. It runs just fine, i see everything. I am 40 so i grew up in era where today graphics would be considered bad or outdated. So it doesn't bother me.
yeah ive been using my acer nitro 5 (gtx 1650, 16GB ram, 512GB storage) it runs at probably around 50fps at my settings which has some things on high and others on medium
Steam Deck is absurd, makes no sense how good this thing is. Every time you see a new game pop up and it's like "There's no way it can handle this" then it does and it's always HOW? It's funny since there were naysayers who said the deck wouldn't be handling PS5 titles once they stopped being multi-platform. Ratchet and Clank slips out and can run solid enough
Drop the resolution a bit, switch to window, click the 3 bit button on the right of the deck, flip on the FSR and sharpness to 2. It looks better AND runs better (IMO)
@pyurologie no problem! Love pushing the deck to the limits, but I had to basically do research to figure the FSR thing out and how to use it in games so. I'm happy I could give the readers digest 😆
Super impressed with these devices, I hear the OLED version is great too. So excited to see HD2 running so solid on one. How do these things connect to the internet?
I just got my deck and was curious about this. So if your out and about like you are in your car in this vid, are you using WiFi hot spot or something in order to play?
+1 on this one. It's hard to ignore those frame drops but it is still playable. I am now used to playing at 30fps locked on the deck though I know I'm spreading better democracy when playing on PC.
yeah it's a live service game that gets updated regularly. the missions are infinitely replayable, you gain "samples" of different levels to unlock new in game content
actually play helldivered on the toilet with a Xiaomi - Redmi Note 12 Smartphone and a Dualshock 4 controller using a micro usb to usb c connector and a 7 bucks cellphone mount for the DS4 controller. spent under £200 total. steam link app is pretty epic :)
I did a bit of remapping. In the controller settings you can remap I chose to long press the select button. For pulling up the mini map I chose to use right stick click and unmapped the melee attack
Set it up as Push To Talk then map any button to Caps Lock. Make sure to go to settings next to that button and set it to "Toggle" if you want to make it act like how it functions on PC
hm, are you playing on higher difficulties? other viewers have told me it drops a lot in 7-9 difficulty. I wasn't high enough level to get to those yet in this vid
Does the Steam Deck overheat while playing Helldivers 2? I got Baldur's Gate 3 and it heats up instantly where the whole back of the deck is hot to touch.
i recommend using the standard right stick for aiming + gyro configured as "Stick" in steam controlls enabled when pressing "L2" (there are two optioons, you need the L2 Trigger when pushed down). very nice control feeling
@@beneta0312 you have to add arguments to the launch option in the HD2 properties. I'm not sure if it still works, one of the updates seem to have broke the DX11. There are posts out there on the specific argument to enable DX11.

great ideas. yeah, i hope they continue to add more specialty bonuses for gear like they did with the armor!

I just got my deck and was curious about this. So if your out and about like you are in your car in this vid, are you using WiFi hot spot or something in order to play?
@MrMab8963 yes i have it hotspotted to my phone, correct
We started playing a month ago and I was at a friends house the next day and played 6 hours straight on the deck so jeah its pretty good
🔥🔥🔥
When a lot of enemies and effects (7-9 lvl) fps down to 20-25 frames.
i still need to lvl up to play those difficulties 🫠
Does Difficulty 7-9 still work on deck?
I haven't tried on the deck yet, but a lotta ppl saying it struggles at those difficulties. I will test it when I level up a bit more.

hey thanks! running from internal memory
@@pyurologie Hell yeah cuh
What was the default button for the map on steamdeck? I manually turned r4 to Tab in steam controller settings.
the "view/select" button is the default mapping, R4 is probably more ideal it was annoying to hit that button
I use all four back buttons as macrokeys for single-tap/double-tap/hold to auto-input strategems. This can be setup natively with Steam Input.
I use the gyro on mine, and it works really well!
awesome! i gotta try it!
How are you hitting that 50 fps in the ship? I’m struggling to keep a steady 40 with those settings

Does Lossless Scaling work on steam deck?
good question. i'll try it out
I just tried to load it, but it doesn't work on steamOS. I'll try it through windows again though.
Damn I thought it might be a quick and easy way to get more frames
It looks fun to play on the deck but it seems like it might be a bit difficult with the controls.
It's the same as playing on a controller.
I'm a KB and mouse player for the most part and it took me a while to get used it to aiming on the sticks again. You can also try gyro aiming
👍👍👍
Has anyone had issues with playing helldivers on the steam deck and game guard or it not connecting to steam servers
so far i haven't run into that issue
Any idea on how I might fix it ? I am not super tech savvy
hmm are you getting any error messages? is your steamOS up to date?
Helldivers 2 on steamdeack has the worst connection issues. I always disconnect at least twice a match. Failed to connect to host.
damn really? haven't had connection issues yet myself
nice... i might just buy a steam deck now.
yeah its really nice to have something you can carry with you and still play your games!

doesn't overheat, but this title definitely pushes those internal temps up a good amount
