My friends had tickets to a concert, and one of them got sick so I got their ticket. Outside the show, my friend and I weren't sure if security would catch our weed so we smoked half of it and then went in. Security didn't catch it, so to celebrate we smoked more once inside (it was an outdoor show btw). I'd gone from zero to ten within about ten minutes, and this band I'd never heard of called Chastity Belt started playing in the sun on a field under Seattle's Space Needle tower. It was one of the best live sets I've ever seen.
Chastity Belt are ruddy marvellous, and lucky me goes to watch them in Manchester tomorrow night. They’ve done some many fantastic songs, but if i had to pick one it would be “Black Sail”.
Started crying during the instrumental section cause after hearing the lyrics realized I went through the same exact situation when I graduated HS. Just aimlessly driving in my parents car back in '08... yeah.... good times, man... I was cruising the web then I found this song....and that was all I needed to hear to get me crying.... sigh....
This music makes me nostalgic for when I finished secondary school. I'd never heard of you guys, but it feels like this song has always existed for that time
I miss swimming in Lake Washington with Mount Rainier looming so so so so gigantic right there practically in the lake with you. I love Chasity Belt too, that's why I'm here.
Lyrics: People talking, but they don’t have much to say Just taking up space, then drifting away We weren’t like that Things weren’t always such a blur In 2008, everything was heavier
We were driving South in your parents car Singing aloud to scratched CDs Feeling meaningful, thinking This is a start And it’ll go on
It was clear then, the sea before a storm Now there’s a thick fog around everything i learn And I just kill time by dreading everything But in that moment, life felt significant
We were driving South in your parents car Singing aloud to scratched CDs Feeling meaningful, thinking This is a start And it’ll go on And we’ll feel the same way
Very awesome song. Cool video, too. Reminds me of a road trip to the upper peninsula of Michigan with friends a few years ago. Keep making this fantastic music, please😁
The new Album in my opinion is quite a disappointment compared to the masterpiece "i used to spend….". With every album they were more quiet and slow, and now, they are nearly drowsy. But seeing them live in jena some weeks ago was a great experience!
me: thats it, i'm not going to give into nostalgia anymore. i'm going to focus on living in the present

What a great song. And what a nice change of pace to release a small and heartwarming video compared to the overproduced industry fare.
