This is one of the best sequels in the history of gaming as far as I'm concerned. I absolutely adore the narrative in this game, I trully believe it's one of the best we've ever had in a stealth action game, not because of how profound or revolutionary it is, but because of the absolutely perfect pacing. It's like playing through a season of a great spy thriller show, the characters keep getting challenged, the stakes keep getting higher, every event flows into the next in a natural manner, and everything culminates in a satisfying finale with a great cliffhanger for the sequel. I like all Syphon Filter games, but I really believe this one is the best by far!

Glad I'm not the only one to see the series like a TV show in storytelling and pacing. Each game feels like a season, especially the PSP games.
Just beat 2 again, first time in 10 or so yrs. It's fantastic. Even the cheaper insta-fail sections are quickly forgotten once the next custscene and set piece arrives. It's one of the best in a dead genre, and I'd say the best in the series. As far as PS1 games go I'd even call it a top 10.

I remember that stage where you had to defuse those C4 charges.
If you were seen, the enemy would say something like: "There's Logan... blow the bridge now". Then you would fail the mission.
However, if you were seen AFTER all the charges were defused, there would be the following dialog:
"There's Logan... blow the bridge now!"
"I can't... the charges are dead".
I remember feeling such bliss at seeing the enemy fail, and react to my efforts to thwart their plans. I guess this game builds a lot of emotion on playing Good against Evil.

I like to think that hitman exists because of Syphon Filter. You can run and gun in hitman as well, although the stakes are higher and the punishments more severe you can play SF like hitman also. With more limited options to goal but still diverse!

@@joethealternativegamer3935 lol You'll laugh at my blunder, but I've been trying to get a ps2 emulator to run smoothly on my laptop let's just say there was major lag. I for some reason thought this title was on ps2! so imagine how happy i was when I installed duck station, and it works flawlessly. I even upscaled which makes it look so much better. I can actually see Gabes nonmoving face.

Been running through the series again for the first time in a decade, almost at the end of 1. Can't wait to get to 2 but I do remember the cheaper stealth missions and headshot enemies bogging the gameplay down. Still such great storytelling and presentation in these games.

I truely believe Uncharted has more similarities from these games than Tomb Raider. On the gunplay alone. It is a very fluid and fast shooting sequences, comparing to the popular cover-shooter TPS of the time (Late 2000's)
