Flybywire A32NX Throttle Calibration Tutorial | Full Walkthrough and Demonstration | MSFS 2020 | Dev

- Continuing on from my previous video, showing you how I quickly set my throttle up for the Thrustmaster T Flight HOTAS X kit with the flybywire A32NX for MSFS, this goes into more detail.
In this video, I'll show you in full how to calibrate your throttle, and discuss the things we have to consider depending on what hardware we have - whether it be a throttle with a single axis, or a dual axis and how to expand ranges to expand the detents more to make them more solid and therefore easier to use!
Remember - as I mentioned in the last video, and again in this video - calibration is subjective and it is down to each individual user to work out what is best for them, so whilst I show you how to do it in a few ways in this video, it is down to each person to configure their set up carefully.
In this video, I will set my detents to exactly how I want them when I fly and when I stream so what you see here, is me changing the calibration a few times to get the detents in the position I want them to be in - you'll likely have to do the same a few times.... and remember to test it out with a quick flight to see how they feel when actually being used!
I hope you find this video useful - if you do, click the Like button and be sure to Subscribe if you haven't done so already!

Can’t find anything to help I’m in pain
Hello there; When I watched your "Flybywire A32NX Throttle Calibration Tutorial" video, I realized that you are well-informed about these issues. I also have a question regarding the subject. On A32Nx (which I use Logitech extreme 3d joystick), antireverse is always activated when I close the throttle, that is, when I pull it to the zero point, how can I prevent this? (Fs2020's own neo does not do this, though.) Thank you very much in advance for your answer. The way, my post was created with google translator. grammar may be wrong.. :))
Hello! Have you tried to recalibrate the throttle, or set a keybind to separate reverse thrust?
On my throttle for example, I have to press a button to "activate reverse" then move the throttle to increase or decrease reverse thrust :)
I don't have the EFB on my "standard" version of the A320NX. How can I toggle it on? Or do I need to switch to the "experimental" version?
you'll need to update to one of the more recent versions of the FBW A32NX
Something caused MSFS to be un loadable (cant find main folder ....)
Now the throttle detents are gone along with many other settings etc. Ive just done this 3 months ago - mow Nothing makes sense, the REVERSER will not co operate (honycomb Bravo). Nothing I do will move the throttle to the reverser section.
What in the freak ? I even tried SPAD which was set perfectly - that doesnt work.
I set up all in the Fly Pad and it all looks perfect - but my hardware wont move the cockpit throttle to REVERSE>
Isnt it fun... thanks for the efforts
Bonjour merci beaucoup pour ta vidéo. Je voulais savoir comment régler mon joysticks pour faire tourner la roue avant de mon Airbus 320 de chez flybywire. Merci 👍🏼
Hi , I have one problem and that is i have aymesstrical throttle one goes ahead and the other throttle stick is left behind whar to do
What hardware do you use?
@@BritishAvgeek just resolved it thank you however I need you help on one thing and that is my trim after I installed the captain sim 777 300 er and started a flight it won’t takeoff and straight nose dive , this wasn’t a thing on the 787-10 and it then it started happening on those planes as well and actually on all the asobo planes however it doesn’t occur on the FBW A320 , the issue is trim one I takeoff it just stays at neutral and straight nose dives don’t know what to trued so much stuff 😭
I have the TCA airbus throttles and if you cant get the reverse to work, you need to manually drag the leveres (the ones in the sim) into reverse and then Press reverse full on the EFB and configure them from there.
I lso can't get my TCA Airbuss working...:(
when my thrust master tca is at idle, the levers in the sim are at 50% i have no idea on how to fix this, this video is completely pointless, he's just showing his settings, not explaining what the decimals mean, i really want to use the development version but i cant with this bug
@@repysounds did you listen to the video?
I mention every single user setup is different and requires some tweaking for each person to get it right for them 👍 re: the decimals - the bottom is throttle closed, the top is full throttle and the range decimals increase the range of the gates
@@repysounds you need to manually pull the throttles back (as I mention in my comment) and THEN calibrate reverse full, , reverse idle, and then it will work.
it is normal that the idle setting is 50%.
hey, so about 2 minutes after takeoff my engines just turn off, both in the a32nx and the headwind a330 neo using the flybywire compatibility mod, is there any fix for this?
sounds like a mod conflict somewhere - not really sure tbh, ensure you're using the very latest experimental/developmental branches of the fbw a32nx
Ive set up my hotas 52 nice , but how can i stop the stuttering on my throttle for taxing from start to climb ? great video nice easy tutorial thank you .
Increase the range in the calibration so the gate range is a little wider - then it'll hold the gate and be more snappy :)
Hi, I see that the ground is very real! What mod have you installed? Thanks in advance for you answer!
it's the Macco Simulations Manchester Airport for MSFS - maccosim.com
Are these also for other throttels
Thanks for that. I got a new Hotas setup with detents and all and I was wondering how to set up the reverser.
Hope it helped 🙂
@@BritishAvgeek I have yet to test, but surely it will work.
you need to make the zone for TOGA a lot smaller
Hi brother! You've got a new subscriber here! ^^ Thanks for this very much! One thing : When I set my throttle to climb and i want to activate the auto throttle ( auto speed ) it just won't turn on. Any reason why? :(
hey, when i downloaded this mod my whole game became blurry and my maps look weird. i don't know how to fix it.
The FBW A32NX? Sounds like something else is clashing with it but really don't know tbh
In my flybywire flypad , there is no Throttle sitting as you have at 1:44.. I have an issue with my thrustmaster Airbus stick specially with A320 flybywire
The settings may have changed location since the video was created so click about and see if you can find the option in the EFB somewhere 🙂 I think it's now a small button that says "throttle calibration"
@@BritishAvgeek thank you dear yes I got it ... but when I twiset the yoke left or right , the flybywire nose wheel not Steering ? how can I solve this issue ?
@@saeedalnassri1608 you need to explore the new tiller options in the EFB - if you don't want Tiller Steering then you need to check it is disabled in the EFB. It is updated now to steer/handle more accurately on the ground with the tiller wheel
@@BritishAvgeek I will check thank you so much
@@saeedalnassri1608 check nosewheel steering is armed and check the tiller settings
Do you need to do this every time you start a flight? Or only once?
Only once, then it'll save inside LocalCache or LocalState until you change it again
Thanks mate finally I solved this nonsense problem!
Awesome!
Thanks for the vid! the only problem i had was when i go into reverse it doesn't work, the throttle just doesn't move in game, any tips?
What Throttle do you use?
@@BritishAvgeek tca hotas
@@danielridlon3198 have you set the throttle in the settings in the sim menu? Might be worth checking out the FBW discord for specific info about the TCA because I don't have one - everyone seems to have a problem with that system!
@@BritishAvgeek Thank you so much!
my tablet now is not working, there is an other way to calibrate the throttle?
I don't believe so
Thanks for this. Are you aware of there being any potential issues with in-sim throttle related sensitivity settings?
The sensitivities need to be checked and depending on the setup they might need to be tweaked again but again it depends on each person :)
Thanks for your response. My thought is to reset my in-sim throttle sensitivities to default and start the process from there. Like you implied...'my / each person's mileage may vary' :-)
@@ArtG-49 it'll be likely a bit different because it's got the new custom FlyByWire in it so it'll handle a little differently
Wouldn't it be nice just to know how to pull up that first screen where you say "into the flight deck" at 1:40. I have been using my Bravo on all twin-engined jets and never encountered so much problems as with the A320 FBW. Spent so much time wondering what the hell have I touched, when I have been flying with my BRAVO for four months, no problems at all.
I think the option area changed in the EFB in that time so now inside the settings there's one little button Throttle Calib which takes you into the calibration process
@@BritishAvgeek Do you have specific settings for the Bravo for the FBW? My throttles are set as follows in the Controls:
Throttle 2 Decrease = Joystick Buttons 11 + 27
Throttle 2 Cut = Joystick Button 27
Throttle 2 Axis (0 to 100%) = Joystick R-Axis Y (Reverse Axis)
Throttle 1 Decrease = Joystick Buttons 10 + 26
Throttle 1 Cut = Joystick Button 26
Throttle 1 Axis (0 to 100%) = Joystick R-Axis Z (Reverse Axis).
At the moment, I can't get the throttle levers to move back by pulling them downward through Idle, only by lifting the reverse levers. If I lift these reverse levers AND pull the throttles back, they shoot up to 100% throttle with 'chattering' as they are fighting each other.
Calibrations: Idle= -1.00, CLB = 0.10, FLX = 0.48, TO/GA = 1.00
@@rothwellrebel9572 really not sure about honeycomb so I hope someone can come along and help with some advice here?
where is the throttle settings? my settings knob is at bottom left and nothing is displayed over the top.
Is it not anywhere in the EFB any more? Not checked it since to be honest
Im so confused still. I had to recently re calibrate my throttle. But when I put it in the climb detent it takes me up to toga, and when I set it at the calibration I want for CLB etc it just wont stay there
Odd - anything changed in your settings or throttle calibration?
Yep, same problem here. I can get all modes to work except CLB. It never stays there and always moves to Autothrottle eventually. Was never able to fix it and asking around on reddit was less than helpful, so I've been flying the ASOBO model for months. It's better than no A320.
@@xclavex have you checked the ranges of the throttles during calibration? Might be worth finding the throttlecalib.cfg file and deleting it, then booting the sim to start fresh if you've not tried that already 🙂
Thanks for the great video. As always a very informative and clear step by step set-up.
glad you thought so! :) always nice to hear positive feedback - good to know it's helped!
Great video. I am having trouble setting the ranges. I always get the overlap message. Any chance you could do another video demonstrating how to set ranges.
It was in this video I believe! 😂 Just keep the ranges between each setting very separate by reducing the values
hola encantado ,gracias por el video pero falta saber cual es tu configuración en la sensibilidad

Hi! I'm trying to fly the a320nx in the new dev update. But when loading in to the aircraft, my flight route it's just dashed green instead of a full green line. Know my aircraft won't follow my route and insteade fly straight aheaded when I turn on the AP. I've also checked so my FD is on... Can you help me please? (I make my route in the game menu and not in the aircraft) Have a nice day!
The dashed line is not a committed one - so it's a temporary one the aircraft won't follow.... But if it is a GREEN dashed line then you are in Heading Mode so click the upper part of the heading knob to enter Managed Heading Mode and the line will go solid green
I recommend either learning to program it fully in the mcdu or use the inbuilt simbrief integration... Which I have a full tutorial for here:

At IDLE it sets my detent to CLIMB... and its not reading my actual thruster properly for some reason. I can set the reversers to idle and full, and toga, but the rest dont calibrate properly
Have you reset the calibration for the detents? What throttle do you use?
@@BritishAvgeek I have the TCA Thrustmaster sidestick and throttles. I did restore to default. SO when the sim starts the throttle in the plane is at IDLE. I set my full reverser and idle reverser, and when I move my throttle IRL to IDLE, in the sim it puts it at the CLB Detent.
So in game right now, with no calibration my IDLE IRL is CLB in sim. and MAN FLEX/TOGA are virtually the same
@@tatethegreat7560 sounds like you need to recalibrate it all
Thank you for the video. We fly in a shared cockpit with YourControls. How can we achieve that the throttles are syncend ? If this is not possible can one deactivate this feature? thanks
Hello! Great question - I'm not sure actually as the last time I used YourControls it didn't work too well for me 😂 but that was a few months ago now. I think as long as the connection is good when you connect together it should surely be ok - if not, it will require an update to YourControls so it works properly
@@BritishAvgeek YourControls works very well. Sorry for my poor english. I try to explain what I mean: If you are in control you can put your throttle for example to CLB. That is synced to your partner (FO) which is connected via yourcontrols( the physical throttle of the partner (FO) is set to Idle, because he is not in Control. we can not achieve to have exact the sane settings when we calibrate the throttle in the EFB ofctve A32NX. The result: when the pilot sets to CLB my throttle is not exact in th e same position. I hope you understand what I mean.
@@beatsauter7377 yes I understand - that will have to be fixed I think by YourControls in an update to find the new calibration settings :)

why does my engine die when i push the throttle all the way to the max?
Not sure 😂 is your fuel on? Keybinds set to fuel cutoff somehow? Hard to help diagnose
This option is off for the last DEV version (ff7f81f) ???
Are you sure that is the latest DEV version? The option is definitely there for me...
When setting the throttle by using the mouse and physically setting it to CL it won’t set to CL at all. This makes the plane over speed. This doesn’t happen with the asobo A320

No problem :) hope it helped!
Omg please do not drop support for kb+mouse or controller without throttle, its literally impossible to get the throttle on CLB detent right now. I use a DS4 (so X and O are throttle) and they go right past CLB. It was suggested that I try putting them on CLB with the mouse but that is next to impossible and you have to play some camera gymnastics to get the engine2 throttle there, even so I was unable to get it working (it would either not stop flashing LVR CLB or disengage auto-throttle). I suggest at least having CLB detent to be a mandatory step in the manual (keyboard or button-oriented controller)
Not sure how they'll do that as they're angling to make the aircraft as accurate as possible (which can't be done flying with a game console controller but rather throttle and stick etc)... I heard if you have a controller like you do, then you should not use the calibration menu on the efb at all
@@BritishAvgeek Yeah there is no point since a controller it just basically maps the keys. That is why I mentioned they should at least make the CLB step mandatory on keyboard so it doesn't need you eyeballing it with the mouse. There is no problem making it as accurate as possible but ditching half the sim community won't because they can't accommodate a throttle detent is bad design specially if it already works.
@@MrCaiobrz I think at least half the sim community I'd like to think has a throttle/control set... Have you tried using the mouse to just listen for the click or set a keybind for increase throttle and keep going until you hear i.e. 2 clicks (flx) 3 clicks TOGA etc? Might be a way to do it :)
I have the same question. The throttle integrated in my joystick is dead and while waiting to be able to buy some, I use my keyboard. Were you able to find a solution?
Yep, same problem here. I can get all modes to work except CLB. It never stays there and always moves to Autothrottle eventually. The growing complexity of this mod is starting to reveal all the vacuous people using this sim 🤦🏽♂️
It's got quite advanced and those wanting a "plug and play plane" are certainly struggling with it now - hopefully the tutorials help but a lot has to be done on the users end too with just working it out based on their setup. Steep learning curve!
no one as ever said it would be easy peazy, one have to know what they want. how long does a pilot have to learn before he can even dreaming of touching the stick. we are kind of privileges that total noobs can learn the systems step by step. did you remember how steep the curve was whit some of the pay-ware planes (737pmdg) in fsx or x-plane.
@@paulvanderhaegen761 exactly, it's a steep learning curve for a lot of people - I think for sure, some don't realise how complex the aircraft actually are until a lot of these upgrades take place but again, it gives even more to learn and enjoy.
