My 1st hot rod was a 1964 Ford Galaxy 500, I bought from a mechanic When I was 17 Years old. 390 in³ police Interceptor, Holman Moody Solid lifters, 780cfm HOLLY CARB, 427 cast iron headers, 411 Rear end. I learned what power was at an early age
Reminds of my youth before I went in the service, racing on Friday nights for money . That’s a sweet machine, don’t think she’s street legal more of a quarter mile doll . Pure 60’s muscle thanks for the flash back .
Pure old-school muscle. Sex on 4 wheels. Absolutely delightful street rod. Wistful sigh. As a Ford guy with limited cashflow, it hurts to see a machine this lovely knowing she can't be mine.😔
Those were beasts. My cousin had one when we were 17 with a 390 police interceptor in it. Same 4 speed too. Only thing that beats this is a hemi car. Chevy's feared them at the track. Then came the light weight thunderbolt.
back in 1985,a local guy who owned his own plumbing company had a ton of 60's muscle cars, his shop was across the street from a gas station i worked at,well he used to fill up at it and cruise around with his cars, one day he pulled in with a 64 galaxie 427 side oiler, bought the car from down south, had clay mud up underneath the wheel wells, said someone used it to run shine, never forget the raspy sound the solid lifter engine made! it was silver with red interior,..pretty impressionable for a 18 yr old at the time!
Happy New Year ! From Kingsford Michigan ! Home of Henry Ford ! I’ve been in one of his houses , fantastic wood trim everywhere ! His chauffeur , for the last five years of his job , William “Bill “ Lotts , personal friend of the family , had the Z- Plan , two cars a year at cost ! And he bought two a year ! And carried a word of hundred dollar bills always , ate every meal out ! Cool old Guy , got hit by a car & died , Ironic !
That’s extra NICE ! The Sweetness ! Uncle has a 1962 Mercury Meteor, Great grandpas car , Modified ! Built Cleveland motor , 4 speed , Keystones with Mickey Thomason’s , nice stance , Kandy paint in black Cherry , shiny dash !
It was the 67 427 Side Oiler in a GT 40 that beat Ferrari in 67 at LeMans. The failing of the Center Oiler was that it didn't get enough oil to the Crank bearings at sustained high rpm. Thus the side Oiler to fix. I have an original std bore Center Oiler wt std dual quad 850s.
I have a friend who inherited one of those engines and it was in a Ford mustang fastback 68 or 69 in sitting in a barn for years about five what that thing is worth I’ve tried to talk to him about selling it but he doesn’t seem interested so I don’t think you’ll ever use it he inherited it from his uncle when he died it’s a lady years one I think it’s a top I know it’s the top also me and his uncle just a few days before that rebuild it and put it back together think we had it running for two or three minutes raking it in and the distributor rotor broke never did do nothing with it then he diedJust wondering what it was worth I think that by the body of a Mustang is worth about 10 grand it was a four speed originally but he didn’t put me on automatic and it pedal still on the floor
@@garyzdg The 427 that I have was salvaged from a Galaxy in a junk yard in San Berdo in the mid to late 70s. It went into a65 Mustang which was a death wish as the body could not handle the hp. The owner then put it into a 72 Mustang which was better but still could break loose. That owner got sick with cancer and died in 85 at 35. His friend bought the car and swapped out the 427 selling the car. It was then put on an engine stand, where I bought the motor from him 90 as he needed some cash to buy another house at the top of the Cajon Pass. I have had it on an engine since.
My buddy Cecil H. has a black 64 XL 427 FE 30 over. IT had the 390 but his Uncle found him a 67/ 427 for a swap. he's had it since high school. 1972. True to a gear head of that era it's got Micky Thompson's 50's in back Dana rear end A 18 inch wood steering wheel and an old 8 track tape player. Stock hood and traction bars. Loppy cam and solid lifters sounds evil with Magna flows.
Brings me back to highschool, dropped with baby blue interior and 390 engine with auto transmission. I tried to blow that worn engine but it just wanted more.
Love to take it down the 1/4 mile. My dad's 63 1/2 fastback did 110 in 1/4 mile. All stock. 406 405hp 3 duce's. That thing probably get ya 130ish. Like my dad used to say.....it would pass anything on the road but a gas station. 😂😂😂. Today's 4 and 6 cylinder engines will give it a good run though.
First car was a black ‘64 small block. Those were the days. I’m not sure there is enough road to get this bad boy out of 2nd gear these days. Not in that video anyways! ❤
I've had 10 muscle cars, all fast, and all pampered unless I was taking them out on a Bonzi run. But what sucked the joy out of them was the bugs, birds, and stones causing rock chips. I should have just had a premiered car with an emphasis on the drivetrain. This is a nice car, but.......
An outstanding relic of a bygone era. Belongs in a museum, but deserves to be thrashed around! I hope that my grandkids get to see things like this in the future. MAGA
*Doesn't seem that long ago when cars like this could be bought up for $500 needing a little work and back up on the road over the weekend.* *You young kids may not remember this but cars like this were what the men drove. The camaros and mustangs were all girl cars.*
Oh what a wonderful sound. Especially to a retired 74 yr old x Ford Parts Manger. I began my career in 67.

That's as nice as it gets, love the sound of that Ford 427!
It would be hard to top this.
It is just incredible 🤯
I'm not a Ford guy, but, goreous old muscle is gorgeous old muscle!!! Wow!!
Back when cars were REAL cars! Wow!! Just wow!!! Look at all that room in the engine bay, simple and easy to work on, no computer BS.

No power steering, no power brakes...this beauty is NOT for the faint hearted...
Your are not alone my FORD friend .

Baddest 64 I've ever seen !!! Could imagine cruising the streets in that monster !!!
When I looked up 'bad ass' in the dictionary I saw a picture of this car.
Beautiful, my favorite year, to the bone...bad ass FORD!
Had one back in the 60's convertible , blew the forward gears , drove 12 miles home in reverse, at night , crazy kid . Loved it!
Haha that’s a good story!

Love seeing these on the street and not hidden in a garage! Where ever it goes Please Drive It!
lol
As a ford guy, this really makes me proud. Would be a dream come true to have this badass in the driveway.
Had The 289. CUI. 3 on the Tree. I Loved that Car. Big Cars,
Majestic. Worth more than 20K. I just sold a bottom of the line 61 Chrysler that needed a lot of work for 20K.
In all fairness he said the motor is worth 20k.
@@thomasgreen1557 Thanks, I must do a better job of reading.

R.I.P uncle.
You just DON'T SEE early 60's Galaxie's...AT ALL, PERIOD!!! YIKES, is this thing sweet. Hang-on to this puppy and guard it with your life!!!
I’d say it’s more than 600 hp and that’s not to be argumentative. It’s a compliment lol that’s a Setup
Happy to see it has original type fan and not electric. Great looking and sounding car.
My uncle had one what a beauty only had a 352 with dual exhaust this one takes the cake
Friend of mine built one like this a few years ago and had close to $100K into it with steel wheels - plus he did all the work himself.
Beautiful.
Badass is an understatement.
Really well done representation. Love what said. It's ROWDEY So true.
Gorgeous! I'm a die hard mopar guy but this I would definitely drive!

Love it , love the sound of that old FE
Back in the day this is what Ford used as canvas in NASCAR.

She’s a beauty, inside and out. Somebody did her up right. The engine is stroked to 452, just sayin’. No power steering or brakes, Love It! ❤
I was wondering if someone would comment- you try to bore a GENUINE 427 out to get a 452 you will go through the cylinder walls. Just sayin'.
427 bored .030 over with a 428 crank makes 454. So mabybe that 427 block is bored .020 over?
@@davidfultz3594 good point. Still stroked.

Back in the 80's my uncle had one of these Red with red and white checker board interior ,,I think came factory like that .
Perfect stance. Stance is important
That clutch won't be new for long if you don't get your foot off the pedal.
Either he doesn't drive a Standard very often or he is just an Idiot.

Man I would be a king in my town with that Galaxy!

Hey is that badassss?
People always talk about how fast the car is, but won't upgrade the brakes because they want to keep it STOCK. There is nothing STOCK about this car.
That is a bitchen ride! Dig the wheels and hub caps, very clean🤙
Gorgeous and fast, an awesome combination!
