- Papi the rehab bobcat was introduced to two feral kittens in an attempt for Papi to learn some feral behaviors to set him up for success in the wild. The two kittens have currently been pulled from Papi, are being socialized, and are ready for adoption.

That looks like a Ghillie suit. Snipers, hunters, etc. wear them to blend in with the landscape. This is a novel and brilliant use for it.

Wild-domestic animals (kittens) teach wild animal (Papi) how to be more wild, then domestic animals (humans) teach wild-domestic animals (kittens) how to be more domestic. Now *THAT* is innovative animal rescue!
Papi is(or maybe was?) at a pretty bad disadvantage. If he was handled by humans too much, and doesn't fear them, his life would be forfeit. :( So, hopefully the kittens put that bit of wild in him. Otherwise, he might not pass rehab :(

Awww, I love this. Such a good idea. I bet the bobcat misses his friends though. I understand that it has to be this way but still feel a bit sad for the bobcat.
in the wild the bobcat would grow up to be solitary, unlike domestic cats which are social, so he will not miss his friends too much. If he'd still been with his siblings they would have eventually parted ways anyway

So happy these kittens have a wonderful home. They were adopted together and are happy.
Since the making of this video Jamie and the great bobcat rehab team have successfully completed their mission. Papi was rehabbed and very happily released back into the wild where he truly belongs.
The two little black panther feral kittens were socialized with their reward in Papi's training and have very happily been adopted into a loving home where they are spoiled on a daily basis 😂😂😂😂

I'm still having a hard time figuring out how Bobbi & Rufus helped Papi be more "afraid". Because they just looked like they got along too well to me. Maybe I can't compare because I didn't see the first time you did this with a rehab bobcat earlier on. I'm glad you say that it worked though. (thumbs up)
I hope Rufus & Bobbi get that fur ever home soon.
Whenever the BCR humans have a good interaction with the bobcats they wear the ghilly suit. Ie. feeding & bringing in the kitten friends. Whenever the humans have a bad interaction with the bobcats they don't wear the suit. The feral kittens already knew humans to be bad so Papi could sense the fear they had and know he should be scared of the humans also. BCR will make sure that Papi has a good fear of humans before they release him so that he doesn't go seeking humans for food.

There's some lovely markings on the bobcat, they really are wonderfully coloured but I love those big green kitten eyes from the two feral cats. Black cats have a magic about them and it's a shame some folks are wary of them. Maybe it's down to the lore of the witch and the black cat handed down in stories but I reckon people need to go and find things out for themselves and not always listen to heresay.

I'm not sure "fear of humans" is the right expression for how bobcats think of us. The most contemptuous look I _ever_ had from an animal was from a bobcat I was trying to ward off from one of my housecats. (The idiot housecat thought he'd try to make friends with the bobcat and was cautiously approaching. The bobcat was ignoring him. I have no idea what would have happened had the bobcat stopped ignoring him.)
The bobcat didn't run, just glared at me and stomped off. Probably annoyed I had disturbed his grooming -- he'd evidently been in the creek and was soaking wet.

Why were the feral kittens’ ears tipped if you’re going to try to adopt them out? I never tipped my feral kittens’ ears if I and the animal rescue organizations I volunteered for were going to adopt them out. The black ones are always harder to adopt out as it is. Nice story though.
The feral kittens had been fixed and were to be returned to a feral colony when someone at the vet clinic heard about the 2 feral kittens and suggested they be paired with Papi since he was an orphan bobcat and too friendly with humans because the humans that found him thought he was a domestic cat for a few weeks and kept him until they realized he was a bobcat. Since they had been fixed, their ears had been tipped. The feral kittens were socialized and have since been adopted into a loving home together.

I have 5 cats who were feral kittens from three different litters (one was a feral mom cat, who doesn’t let us pet her, but loves to be around us all the time). These were the ones no one adopted, two are black, and they’re 17 years old now. Some friends and I managed to TNR and adopt out well over 200 cats and kittens over the course of two years, but only through the support and adoption efforts of Allie Cat Allies, Best Friends, Northern Virginia Animal League, our local ASPCA, several wonderful vets who graciously donated most of their time, and even Hills Science Diet and and private donations. I know how much dedication, coordination, and money that takes - so thank you for setting them up for a good life, on top of all of the tremendous work to give big cats as best a home as possible too. 🐈🐆🐅
