Very few Fantasy creatures have been as iconic or worthy of much needed explanation. Excellent choice for this first episode. Fortunately you will have no shortage of creatures, thanks to the Tyranids, Zerg, Arachnids and fantasy

Nnelg tyranids aren't copies of zerg? There's no similarities except they're both insectoid, have a hive mind, and there's alot of em....
No, the Zerg began as a Tyranid clone. Starcraft was originally going to be set in the 40k universe. 40k in turn copied lots of mid-20th century sci-fi, which includes the original 1959 book Starship Troopers.

Good old Piter, such a shame the Harkonnens were so adamant their mentats were twisted.

And keep in mind, that talking about the sandworms and Arrakis is the SIMPLE part of Dune. It only gets far, far more complex from here.

Honestly, I don't get why so much people keep saying these books (which are excellent) are hard to read and/or understand (or particularly complex).
I mean... It's fairly simple. Very eloquent, and intelligent, but simple.
Seriously, can someone explain ? I might just not get something really important here, I wouldn't want to miss it ^^

@@nathanjora7627 there is a lot that is happening in dune. There are many conspiracy & secrets in the novel. the high science fiction/ fantasy setting can get confusing for some readers. The movie also helped give dune its overly complicated reputation.
@@jeb791 Sure, a lot is happening, but it's not like it's particularly hard to keep track, it's rather clearly laid out.
If we're talking about just understanding the plot, it's not that hard.

The Templin Institute pft I was there in the first hour! Actually, funny enough because I didn't enter an address it moved my $10 pledge to $1, so I guess I could fix that....
A thorough explanation of the life cycle from haploid Sand Trout, to Spice Blow, to full worm, is totally fascinating! Planetwide cysting below the topsoil, exploded sand trout clustering together, ending up with a massive fire-burning engine... a couple really great details could be explained in length more... future video?
Dune universe is expanded and awesome enough worthy to have many videos made about it. Ordos , Attreidies and Harkonen need at least a video if not more

Ruby Crescent-Rose Agreed. It's best to test the waters, see how fans react, and see how much work those videos will be. But, given the reaction so far, and the fantastic quality put in this channel, I think these new ideas will work just fine.

I hit play thinking "If they don't start this off saying 'Arrakis... Dune...' then they missed an opportunity." I see that chance was not wasted.

Whenever I watch those information videos about Arrakis and the Duniverse as a whole I feel like Paul Atreides watching those documentary clips on his filmbooks.

The prequels are... riddled in incoherences and inconsistencies (which is a shame, I think, better have nothing than something like that. As non-dunesque, I would've give it a pass, though).

Agreed, it's very melancholic (although I wouldn't say depressing for myself, but I understand why you'd say so). It's also my favorite one, ex-aequo with Dune, first of the name.
But honestly, ranking the books of this cycle is pretty useless, so maybe I should just say that it's a really good story :)

Maybe these questions are answered if you actually read Dune, but since I haven't: What do Sandworms eat, if the entire planet is desert? How could they possibly consume enough calories to survive? How do they move? They're too large and too stubby to use undulation, and they don't seem to have any external limbs strong enough to propel them.

Honestly, the more I watch Dune the more I like the 84 movie. I think that was great. Hoping for a proper comeback in the next movie

But this show, with the abundance of amazing creatures, has great potential and goes well with what you've been putting out... Possibly the best choice .. But honestly i think any topic you guys finally decide to focus on will be amazing.

I was so afraid of these when i was little and played first dune. I liked that harconen always auto-atacked them, even turrets, so we all can be save.
