I like your honest review. Most people will want or need a case for protection. An inexpensive silicone case would be a great addition to include in the box. Samsung should consider adding one in the box in near future as the value it adds far outweighs the cost.
No need to add a cheap silicone case when people will not use it and buy a case closer to their personal preference. Samsung should have at lease included the charger.
@@afropick69 There's no need until it's dropped beforehand. Great review. Every bit of info you need but no wasted time. I should have watched the review before I bought it, but I think I would have still ordered it anyway based on the review. Will definitely check you out in the future if I need another phone.
I’ve been using my Samsung Note9 since 2019 when I bought it second hand at around $350 or something. It’s been such a good phone but sadly it’s now lagging in the most important area a phone should never lag in, like making phone calls, even when trying to call my voicemail it just says ‘calling’ for over a minute then hangs up on me, then I can’t even call anyone without it doing the same or only able to text them to call me, and then they can’t. It’s unfortunately time to upgrade but I’m now can’t even afford the second hand, previously owned or refurbished phones that are already 2 years old. I love the note series or any that come with the s-pen but can’t even dream about owning one at this point. Even people on eBay are ridiculous, for a S22 Ultra they want $600 for one that has lines on it, majorly cracked screens, and one even mentioned in the fine print that the back was starting to bulge, like seriously? They want that much for a phone that’s showing sign’s it’s about to explode? So this might be a cheapER alternative even though I will dearly miss my s-pen. If it wasn’t for the tax return I wouldn’t be able to even get this one. It’s pretty sad how expensive phones haven’t gotten and how long they last before trying to force people to buy a new one. This is considered a budget phone but it’s really not for people like me who are on SSI or other means of living. I personally do and don’t care about the SD card slot because of almost every phone in the past rejecting them and stops reading them after so many years. It doesn’t affect my decision at this point. I LOVE that it comes with long term updates. It’s rare. Appreciate the reviews on it.
i love the camera. most especially it has AI that automatically detects anything you are taking photos of such as documents food etc. very useful for students, one only need to take photo of the board . no more taking down notes. you can even copy paste text out of photos and remove photo bombers in an instant
Sakitech I want to thank you for explaining to us viewers about the A54., very impressed with the advice given by you in a simple format. Once again Thank you....🎉
Poštovani gospodine, hvala Vam što ste mi ovom recenzijom pomogli da odlučim koji sekundarni telefon da kupim. Definitivno A 54 5g. Primarni mi je uvek Sony flagship već godinama, jer sam po iskustvu Sony fan Srdačan pozdrav iz Srbije ! SonyGirl ❤ P.S. U Srbiji je tek sada dostupan,
Samsung made a big deal about the nighttime picture taking and lots of reviews I've seen & heard the main sensor took some amazing low light shots. Not the ultra wide or macro, only the main sensor and not on 50mp but the default 12.5mp which uses 4 to make 1 bigger mp allowing more light in.
I like the camera too. Not as good as flagship but far from bad. The front camera is great for selfies. My 12 y/o has taken a million since she got phone a few weeks ago.
@alexgataric So your daughter likes it? I'm thinking about getting the a54 5g for my 14-year-old daughter. She currently has the a51 5g with a cracked screen.
@ronnierockafella5482 I'd get it. It'll get five years of updates and will last her through high school. The battery life is really good and 25W charging is fairly fast. I have an S22 Ultra and find the performance acceptable considering I'm a phone snob. EDIT: I got mine from Amazon for $355 and included a 25w charger. I got a vecomelo case and usb c headphones to complete the package I gave my daughter.
so they include the os it comes with has an update? Bit of a swizz there; updates should be 14,15,16, 17 not 13,14,15,16. The apple 14 are updated till 2029, android 14 comes out this year, so 16 will be 2025 the last update; pretty much 2 year updates real time.
The camera is very good day and night. When using the camera make sure the lenses are free from dust, moisture and other degrading blockage on it's lenses.
Everyone has a few charging blocks laying around, not really a con. You can get one for under $5 if you really need one. Also, for stutters turn off 120hz refresh rate & turn off RAM plus (RAM plus uses internal memory as RAM and is many times slower than actual RAM). The A53 actually did have a lag problem and those 2 things fixed it - and the A54 is a faster phone and big improvement over the A53; I haven't noticed any lag with it at all, but I do optimize my phones.
Exactly, chargers are no big thing, the important feature for me is the wire. The lag can be fixed with software updates and not bogging it down with software like bloatware, android and micro soft are known for.
@@The.Man.WithAPlan 6 gigs is plenty for this phone - The US version doesn't have 8 GB option. Just close out apps when not in use. Don't ever use RAM plus, it slows your phone.
I don’t why everyone thinks exynos processor is bad, it is very well optimized on samsung devices i used exynos 850, 6345 both are very well optimized, im gonna buy this phone exynos 1380
If you put the phone on the slowest settings, and use it in the wrong way - it does stutter like most phones in the market. But, if you use it accordingly its pretty much smooth.
I've had one for about 1 month. My very first "smart phone". At 65 years of age. It started disconnecting from the internet constantly. I was panicking until I finally figured out what the problem was. I would rest my phone inches away from my PC's modem. Once I moved my phone a few feet away? Perfect.
I bought yesterday . No stutter , no heating , ..only thing is selfie camera or main camera. I am coming from s8. The phone is also heavy little bit. Processor is more than good i must say ,can handle multi tasking excellent.
324 at bestbuy black friday.. got it a couple days ago they have black Friday prices early. I live in Arizona I keep the brightness not even a quarter way up and it's bright enough not even past half from the bottom.. cameras good enough takes nice photos.. mind you I don't take a hell of a lot of photos only to sell things, but still compared to a iphone 7 this thing beats it, it absolutely never stutters.. you don't have your ram memory set up right... also, you probably leave every application open. Me I close them after 10 or so... even the top end phones don't come with the charger anymore
I was disappointed all I got was a cable to charge. The older phone I had for 6 years came with charger headphones. So far liking the phone. Thank you so much for the review.
I'm thankful they don't provide earphones. Two reasons: I bet each of us have at least 10 pairs of earphones lying around at home. All of them came free one place or another. I would have liked a TPU case instead. And a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter.
Why no Charger, not acceptable in this day and age, and the honor 90 lite does not stutter, 2 Better Processor , Great video, answered a lot of questions
Got to agree. My s23 (6.1" version) can super-fast charge with a 25-watt brick. Already had one laying around, but if I didn't? Less than 10 bucks on Amazon would fix it. As far as "normal" charging bricks? I've got a box full of 5 - 18-watt chargers, so do most folks that I know.
From the Samsung website: "The Galaxy S23 Series comes with a USB C to USB C cable, SIM ejector tool and a quick start guide in the box." Whoopee! Even one of your "pros" sounded like a con. I can buy a huge SD card for a fraction of the cost of memory in a phone. When it comes down to it, is avoiding the cons worth an extra $500?
A minor of this phone is also the screen edge. I have an annoying edge around of about 3mm! Is there any adjustment to set this on full screen? You can set some app on full screen, but not the phone. I came from a huawei p30 pro and the screen was just perfect in balance.
I've never understood Samsung's naming convention, how is an s23 basically their best phone from looking at them all but a '5'series better than that being up in the ladder. Can someone educate me a bit here? Or is it because of the S in front of the A? Just trying to figure it all out. 👍
It's not a "5" series, it is a Samsung "A" series (A54) which in both phones and tablets denotes their budget to mid-range line. The reason the A series runs into higher number is because Samsung's A line is fairly large, with the A14 being a true low-cost budget model to the mid-range A54.

@@peterernest4276 Oh, okay? I have 2 more weeks to go before I need to buy a new one, so I'm comparing these 2 phones, especially the cameras. I locked myself out of my A53, a friend did a "hard reset" and now the cameras are out of whack even after a big OS update the other day. My sister is buying it from me as she's not into photography so much.
I wear hearing aids, so the lack of a headphone jack is not a problem. What I need to know though, is wether the phone supports the Asha protocol ( connects via Bluetooth between my hearing aids and my phone. Reviews never mention the Accessibly options, and it's quite difficult to find out without physically having the phone to test. I've already had to return my new Samsung A15, as Asha wasn't available on it. My hearings aids recognised the phone, but were unable to connect to it. Cons : -very heavy 202gr -still ufs 2.1 -no charger in box -doesn't had stabilization on 4k@30 -camera pictures quality colours is flat -big ugly outdated bezzel in the front display -no support apps/games from devs for exynos -processor had the slowest performance compared to competitor
Having realised my otherwise great Xiaomi is about to have security updates stopped this aspect is a priority. The con I have a big issue with is the charger costing extra. And that's a USB C each end cable, so would need a special charger! No big deal on earphones though.
The lack of even a basic charger is annoying. It is penny pinching 'green washing' that Samsung and Apple do this. It's very similar to how printer manufacturers would ship printers without including the usb cables. They did this so the retailing stores could sell usb cables at inflated prices.

You're being harsh about the camera.. It's a midrange device. What do you expect? It's surely way better than chinese midrange cameras.
i love the camera. most especially it has AI that automatically detects anything you are taking photos of such as documents food etc. very useful for students, one only need to take photo of the board . no more taking down notes. you can even copy paste text out of photos and remove photo bombers in an instant
the micro SD storage is amazing!
Sakitech I want to thank you for explaining to us viewers about the A54., very impressed with the advice given by you in a simple format. Once again Thank you....🎉
It's amazing how a $400 to $500 dollar phone is considered a budget phone smh
I actually just bought one on Amazon, unlocked, for just under $300, new in box
Poštovani gospodine,
hvala Vam što ste mi ovom recenzijom pomogli da odlučim koji sekundarni telefon da kupim.
Definitivno A 54 5g.
Primarni mi je uvek Sony flagship već godinama, jer sam po iskustvu Sony fan
Srdačan pozdrav iz Srbije !

❤
Amongst all reviews I have watched, this is the best. It's like I have a professor and I understood everything. Thank you.
so they include the os it comes with has an update? Bit of a swizz there; updates should be 14,15,16, 17 not 13,14,15,16. The apple 14 are updated till 2029, android 14 comes out this year, so 16 will be 2025 the last update; pretty much 2 year updates real time.
The best information about A54 I got on internet. 👌
Excellent and honest review.
Much appreciated.
Great video. Very articulate and organized, and most importantly, straight to the point.
He also did not mention video. That's big for me, I have a high end camera so no worries for pics.
Buy the 8 gig ram version over the 6 instead of the 6 if you need more ram instead of using ram plus.
@@The.Man.WithAPlan 6 gigs is plenty for this phone - The US version doesn't have 8 GB option. Just close out apps when not in use. Don't ever use RAM plus, it slows your phone.
I agree! Turning off RAM Plus eliminated almost all lag/stutters!
What do you guys think? Should I buy A54 or A73? Exynos really made me hesitant
It seems to take decent night photos with this phone, you're going to have to use the flash and not night mode like most flagships.
the new one ui 6.0 patch helped with the stutter
I don’t why everyone thinks exynos processor is bad, it is very well optimized on samsung devices i used exynos 850, 6345 both are very well optimized, im gonna buy this phone exynos 1380
what kind of phone do you use and how old is it?
@@Mekurukito-qh4ij i use galaxy a54
If you put the phone on the slowest settings, and use it in the wrong way - it does stutter like most phones in the market. But, if you use it accordingly its pretty much smooth.
4:09 shouldn't that mean it should go up to Android 17? If it's launching on Android 13 and 4 OS updates..
4 years of os updates and 5 years of security updates
@@ultimatethunder 😂😂😂
I have the a54 but its over heating to much idk why
I've had one for about 1 month. My very first "smart phone". At 65 years of age. It started disconnecting from the internet constantly. I was panicking until I finally figured out what the problem was. I would rest my phone inches away from my PC's modem. Once I moved my phone a few feet away? Perfect.
?
I use a Vivo device (yes a Chinese company) and this phone is expensive for me but at least it gets 4 years update instead of 2 years by vivo
I bought yesterday . No stutter , no heating , ..only thing is selfie camera or main camera. I am coming from s8.
The phone is also heavy little bit.
Processor is more than good i must say ,can handle multi tasking excellent.
Turn off your ram plus. Phone running smoothly no stutter no lags.
Samitech, can you name a phone in this price range you would prefer over this one? Thanks
Great video from the great Sakletech
Great review. Now convinced to buy the A54 over the Xperia 10 V, xiaomi 13T, LG V60 5G,
I'm using this phone for almost 3 weeks ,so far its nice ..the dolby sound is syperb for the a person like me who love watching kdramas..
this is no con: no earphones and no charger is no issue. Cheap phone, no extras. It's a good phone and I'm happy with it.
Just turn off ram plus your phone running smoothly.
I was disappointed all I got was a cable to charge. The older phone I had for 6 years came with charger headphones. So far liking the phone. Thank you so much for the review.
Same.
Me too, got charger replacement on Amazon
I admire your eye opning honesty! I would still buy this phone because for me the pros out weigh the cons...
I own a galaxy a54 5g phone...I'm very happy with it. Got mine through t mobile😅
My vivo v27 doesn't stutter samung should have put a 7 series Snapdragon in the A54 big mistake
Liked your succinct and clear explanation. thanks
This seems much better then my A51 and it is helping in my decision to get this or the google pixel 7
When it comes to ""stutters" the Samsung A53 also had some noticeable stutters but it was gone after like 5-6 months of updates
I have had Samsung and would never ever bought another one in this life.
Awesome overall review, disappointed about the missing charger as well
Me too. 😢
Good video...but, Con #3; 99.99% of people already have a charging block from their previous phones. So, not getting one included never bothered me.
Got to agree. My s23 (6.1" version) can super-fast charge with a 25-watt brick. Already had one laying around, but if I didn't? Less than 10 bucks on Amazon would fix it. As far as "normal" charging bricks? I've got a box full of 5 - 18-watt chargers, so do most folks that I know.
great job i have this phone no problems
From the Samsung website: "The Galaxy S23 Series comes with a USB C to USB C cable, SIM ejector tool and a quick start guide in the box." Whoopee!
Even one of your "pros" sounded like a con. I can buy a huge SD card for a fraction of the cost of memory in a phone.
When it comes down to it, is avoiding the cons worth an extra $500?
7:27 - What is a better option than the A54 at this price ? Appreciate your reviews. Thanks.
Very informative video, congratulations
I appreciate the detailed pros and cons.
I like your objective assessment 👍
Since when $500 became cheap?
I bought the 8gb ram with 256 storage it works perfect
Does A54 phone recognise 4K/60fps HDR video format like from Tourister channel on youtube or does it make such videos pale?
Ihave been using it for few days its very nice
Does disabling the 120hz eliminate the stutter?
thanks for doing this in english! i presume you're from india. there are lot of indian tech channels but once they open their mouth it's 100% garbage sputtering for someone like me who doesnt know any of the indian languages.
just got this phone brand new for 200 (8gb ram version too) lol, i thought it was a steal and i got bored of my iphone 11 (i’ve used android b4) let’s see how it goes!
Ye0, i just picked one up for £220..... apparantly if you can get it for £260 then you should RUN not WALK to get it. - so looks like we did well. 👍
I still swear by my microSDXC card slot. 🙂
Can anyone suggest a samsung phone that's great for night/ low light photography?
Except for note 20 and s23 models
21 ultra
Thank you so much! I have to replace my A53, and was thinking about buying the A54, but after watching this review, I think I'll buy myself another A53.
The phone is way better than A53
I've used the phone about a month and their is huge upgrade
Thanks
@@peterernest4276 Oh, okay? I have 2 more weeks to go before I need to buy a new one, so I'm comparing these 2 phones, especially the cameras. I locked myself out of my A53, a friend did a "hard reset" and now the cameras are out of whack even after a big OS update the other day. My sister is buying it from me as she's not into photography so much.
Am really enjoying my phone
I've not experience any lag or suturing
Everything is smooth 😌 😎
the a54 looks prettier but hey this is just me 😅😊
@@peterernest4276 how is the battery life of a54?
I wear hearing aids, so the lack of a headphone jack is not a problem. What I need to know though, is wether the phone supports the Asha protocol ( connects via Bluetooth between my hearing aids and my phone. Reviews never mention the Accessibly options, and it's quite difficult to find out without physically having the phone to test. I've already had to return my new Samsung A15, as Asha wasn't available on it. My hearings aids recognised the phone, but were unable to connect to it. I'm worried about making the same mistake again.
Great video. Thank you very much for the info 👍🏽
Why no one talks about the phone getting hot while usual use
my first and foremost issue with Chinese brand in privacy and security. So love Samsung.
the is the best review I have seen for A54 address cons and really make me reconsider this phone. I think Iphone 11 is a superior phone almost at the same price can get cheaper with 64gb option and cons with 4g, LCD and no longer software update after this year. Other than that Iphone 11 is a better option for me I must say
Iphone 11 is worst iphone made in recent years and this is way more better.
@@frankreynolds9930You think so? Iphone 11 is really outdated and having a dilemma between Iphone11, A54 and A34
Just ordered A54 due A50 not 5G. I'm gonna miss having a jack and FM radio. Buds always die on me and when I'm on the bus like today phone near dying I turned off data and just used FM.
Hi sakitech good morning my name is Ricardo thanks for d update with d samsung A54 was going to buy myself d samsung A54 i change my mind samsung A53 instead is it a good buy for me
Remove navigation gestures and put on standard keys back buttons, stutter will be gone
really? Can you explain?
A older Snapdragon 865 to 888 processor would've been way better than the one this phone has.😅
Unless you're a big gamer, it's not that noticeable a difference.
i got this phone a couple weeks and liking it very much. but Dolby Atmos on a phone??? c'mon man that's a goofy gimmick. and everybody already has a charger and earbuds.
After the update cameras work great best on a midrange, and the main sensor can compete in some cases with s23 one ui 6.0 resolve the problems
I wish they at least gave u an option of paying an extra 5 pound to buy a version that comes with a charger.
I ve never owned a Samsung just recently with Google pixel pro started using android as my second device I’m so tempted to get this phone but I’m being cheap I don’t wanna the price for it
Cons :
-very heavy 202gr
-still ufs 2.1
-no charger in box
-doesn't had stabilization on 4k@30
-camera pictures quality colours is flat
-big ugly outdated bezzel in the front display
-no support apps/games from devs for exynos
-processor had the slowest performance compared to competitor
Having realised my otherwise great Xiaomi is about to have security updates stopped this aspect is a priority. The con I have a big issue with is the charger costing extra. And that's a USB C each end cable, so would need a special charger! No big deal on earphones though.
The lack of even a basic charger is annoying. It is penny pinching 'green washing' that Samsung and Apple do this. It's very similar to how printer manufacturers would ship printers without including the usb cables. They did this so the retailing stores could sell usb cables at inflated prices.
👍🏽💯🎓✅ great review ,helps to make a decision in this " overcrowded " smartphone space ! Thank You.🎉🎉🎉❤
Is a big upgrade for me from old galaxy S8 i like it so far
Most informative ❤love from India ❤
I’m satisfied 😊
My choice is perfect 😂
All said is not good phone blah blah 😂
