You're right. The very reason I stick with Samsung is that because they have the best display and best UI (so far). I mainly use my phone for reading, internet browsing, and some social media. But even with games, I would not be able to stand bad screen. I still have Samsung A50 by the way, I still like it.

Just got mine the other day. Was gonna get the 7a but Samsung Canada had a great deal through a partner site. $340 CAD. So far very impressed. That display and battery life are amazing. Bit of a learning curve coming from a Pixel but I'm liking it. I'm done paying over $1000 for a phone now. Mid-range is good enough.

Most of the hate I saw with this phone was coming from other android users. Why would Apple care about a budget android device? Especially in the US, they literally dominate the market over there. I get that people with androids sometimes have it hard when it comes to some cringey Apple users who think they are better than people cause of a phone, but I swear you some of you android guys love to make having a phone a personality trait to deal with your insecurities and hide it behind a superiority complex . It’s cringe. You’re literally doing the same thing those bad apple users are doing, thinking you’re superior cause of a phone. It so sad, how you guys don’t even see you’re emulating the people you hate.

I think people online are just being overly dramatic about the exynos chip, i honestly dont game much on my phone so it never bothered me but what does bother me are quality control issues on pixel devices. Honestly, managing your expectation for the price and quality you are buying is really important. Samsung usually has better support for their devices and better customer support and onsite stores while google may be a headache for that aspect. I have a Pixel 7a and my wife the A54. I have had plenty of time using both of them. If given the choice again would I pick the A54 over the 7a? No, but... The A54 (to me) is more of a slab, it is just big enough to feel cumbersome. I am not a fan of the UI of Samsung (not a fan doesn't mean I refuse to use it. I am typing this on my A32, my my "bathroom" phone lol). I picked the 7a, she picked the A54. Her reasons (and they are all valid): bigger and brighter screen, longer updates, microSD card, an actual macro camera lens, and she loves the UI. Her phone takes pictures that are almost as good as my 7a, sometimes we will take a similar shot and the A54 looks better (at night it is a different story, the 7a takes the win). Most of the time her network connection is very similar to the 7a with the exception of Bluetooth. The 7a blows it away with range. Using my BT 5.2 buds at work the other day I left my desk, walked doen the hall, got in the elevator and it didn't disconnect until I reached the floor above. She wouldn't care about that though. Just like wireless charging, she doesn't care like I do, I have a charging pad on my desk and in the console of my car. She likes the wired charge speed is faster than the 7a (and it IS faster). In a nutshell she loves her A54 because it does everything SHE wants and needs it to do; it is irrelevant what a reviewer that never used one has to say. I love my Pixel 7a for the same reason - it does everything I want and need it to do. We do agree on one thing though-neither of us are going to drop $1200+ for a flagship or gimmicky folding phone, it just isn't worth it. It all comes down to personal preference.

It is a perfectly great phone. Had the 6a for a while and it had some issues I couldn't get past. (Mostly with no SD card slot) The camera and processor are perfectly fine, while not as good as any Pixel or the high end Samsungs it does it's job well.
Only time I had issues with multi-tasking is with Pokémon Go and using the camera at the same time. If you're playing the game and want to take a picture, the game will need to restart. But this also happened with the 6a as both these phones have 6 GB of ram. It's understandable but something to keep in mind. However, it will do multitasking with social media while playing Pokémon Go just fine.
If there's something I had to legitimately complain about is there isn't a model with more storage and ram that other parts of the world get. (US only gets the 128/6 GB model)

Really hated my A53 phone, even that Oscal C80 phone you showed a while back was better in almost every way for my use case, and that was only about a quarter of the price! I might even stick with it for a bit longer and wait for a newer A series release next year perhaps.

@waynestevens1654 i loved my A-53, but honestly, running it over was a blessing in disguise. With Samsung 6.1 operating system through T-Mobile whom i'm with, i can honestly say that the A-54 is basically an S-23 or 24 in disguise. The only thing better on both of the S series devices is the telephoto lens that can zoom in way better than most high end cameras these days. But other than that once it learns how you use your device after a month or so, it runs silky smooth. I've never owned a better phone in my entire life, and it still has 2 years of operating system updates, and 3 years of security updates. So if you can get that much out of your A-53 i would definitely recommend you do that. But that's just my opinion, but as long as my A-54 doesn't have a break in the screen or some type of other major defects, i won't be getting rid of this phone for the 2 years of operating systems still coming to it. After that i'll be buying the newest top end mid range device from Samsung or Google. But most likely a Samsung because i am honestly blown away from the value of this phone. Good luck to you.

Sure, it does get a little warm sometimes but maybe because I live in a hot South East Asian country and not because it has an overheating issue. I've noticed that when I use it in an cold air-conditioned room, it never gets hot even when I am using so many apps. Other than that, I never had an issue with this phone so far. I don't really get the hate and those bad reviews. I mean why hate the phone when you are not even using it as you an everyday phone? Why give bad reviews when you've just used it for a day just for the sake of content and you are coming from a flagship phone owner perspective? I bet those commenters just echoed or copied other comments just to give the phone a bad rep.

I have used it, Even went to samsung store. I saw A34, A54 and A73.
Only this phone was lagging on basic application like using camera and galary. And the only reason I could think of was Exynos chip. It could be powerful, but not enough for good UX and snappy animations.
And in long term exynos doesnt work well. So the only drawback is processor, rest is good.
No issues in overall phone and using it as daily device if you are using it on medium, but for miderately heavy user, A34 is better choice to provide the snappier UX and for multiple apps running at same time.

I did use it, I swapped to the 7a.
The 7a's performance is just so much better, coming from an s10+ that died the performance of the a54 was just really obviously off on a regular basis. I got to play around a few times with a friends 7a when he got one just after launch, and although it's not current flagship level it's much better. And the cameras, the other aspect I wanted, are significantly better for me.
But the screen is better on the a54. With adaptive brightness the 7a does actually get nearly as bright, but it's still not amazing. And the battery life is better on the a54. For anyone where the screen or battery is their main focus, the a54 is a good choice - as long as you don't mind the slightly lower performance which if you came from another mid ranger you might not even notice.

Screen is amazing, and plenty performance for my needs, but the phone is a bit too bulky compared to the previous two phones I had, especially next to the S7. If you are used to chunkier phones, this is one is great. And if you are not, you'll get used to it quickly 😊
Also, I read alot about hickups and such on this device. Never once have I had anything of that sort. Buttery smooth, but maybe that's because I am coming from an S7 and S10.

7:32 I disagree a little bit. I have been playing Call of Duty Mobile, PolyWars, Minecraft, and Roblox. It is very stable and smooth. Yes, it does stutter every half an hour or so, but it is just a 1-millisecond stutter that you barely notice. On Polywars, I was able to get 120 fps on low settings. I like low settings; I don’t really like high graphics unless it’s just really garbage to look at.
TLDR; if you don’t need high graphics and you don’t play heavy games like Genshin Impact, then it’s really solid for gaming. CODM runs really well.

Think I'm going to get this tomorrow. People are too controlled onto thinking they have the best of everything. Who cares if you got a mid range phone rather than a flagship. Especially how quickly flagship phones become yesterday's news. I use do feel I had to do flagships all the time. Until I lost my job as my contract was up and got the phone I have now 'Samsung A70' like almost 4 years ago. It's still going strong and the only reason I'm looking to get new is because I'm still paying my old contract price 18 months over the end date and has risen a 3rd of the monthly price just on annual % hikes so I'm chucking my own money away. The new phone will be saving me almost half the monthly price and will do exactly the same as this one has done because it does everything I need.

Sad to say, my A53 is starting to freeze on me, and lag a lot. So, rather than pay $200 to renew it (unlimited talk/text) with Tracfone, will buy an A54 for $259--also Tracfone unlimited talk/text. Glad to see it won't be an upgrade mistake.

I bought this phone for my father and I have use it few days - if I can't like a54 it's definitely not about lags or something. Great camera and battery life, nice screen and fast enough for everyday use. Battery life is great for me, all day on 85% in the morning, after using silly S-series with 2 times on charger a day it shows me that powerbank is for few-days wild tracking and not essential if I want go to park took few photos and buy ticket with my phone to back home. Only complain is: Samsung have no same phone with more compact screen, and it's too big for pocket. Only way to have compact samsung is S23, with 2 times price tag but it's even slimmer and have no good battery life - way better if you compare with s21/s22 but still not A54 league at all (why not to do it 9~10mm like Fairphone and pack 4500~5000mAh?).
A54 is great for my father anyway, as he really likes his Note phones before - so depend on use-cases it's great or bad.
And really - are there any not as slim s23 screen sized phones with better battery life and at least A54-grade camera? Only what I can see is Zenfone 9/10

Samsung did great With both. I like the cameras but honestly dont love them.
And not comparing them to flagships but my last huawei Nova 3.
Now why I didnt get huawei again because I dont like a phone without google services no way.
But while it lacas in giving you the best photos compensates with sound and picture while you are watching videos or a movie in your phone.
Its a phone focused mostly on multimedia and social apps.
But photography while very good its not outstanding.
Plus pretty fast, great batery and nice design.
So yeah the only smaller issue is the photography
      Its an 8/10.

The same charger/charging speed, the exact same UI, the exact same design and materials and get this the processor is on par with this one if not better, cause its not an exynos. The main difference is you get a slightly better camera on this one and thats up to debade since this one has the damned exynos. Both are good phones for the price but I'd get the a34 since you can get it for much cheaper if you sign the right contract.

It's exactly what i needed and for the price all that it contains feels good enough but again depends what you need! Screen is large enough and i prefer a sturdy grip on phone that is not overly large. Also it doesnt overheats easily ..plus i do multitasking on it and it can lag slightly but everything's efficient so far! If youre using phone for social media and basic apps,it should work well. Bonus is that you get to play with some camera effects during daytime! macro mode is fine as well. Great review and rebuttal.
Some "tech" reviewers don't and won't understand this phone. It is mostly for content consumption thanks to that gorgeous Super Amoled display, which frankly looks better than my iPad. If you want to create great content, go for the S-series at 3 times the price.
It is not for gaming. It is for occasional photo taking. You will use Battery Protect mode i.e. 85% useable battery. You will drop to 60Hz screen to gain 20% more battery life for the day. Android 13 or 14 will make this super snappy and more secure. Occasionally restart the phone to optimize its Apps.
The Secure Folder option is essential for your banking, payment and private documents.

Get the 128GB and a memory card. Most Phones will slow down regardless of its SOC once it's ROM starts getting full; something inevitable unless you only use it make phone calls.
You can use the phone's storage for apps and updates and the card for Audios/pics/videos. Phones slowing down is either a software issue or the ROM is getting full. Speed of accessing media is strictly on the storage type and beyond users control so don't stress about where you store your files if your phone never had a fast storage.
