I think much better instead of asking them for a minute to interview just ask them like "pwede magtanong?" because most of the filipinos will be shy if they think that it would be a serious interview about something in general hence, they're scared everytime you ask them for an interview.
A little tip to Jess and the team. It is not a foolproof solution to ask people if they're locals. A lot of locals don't always frequent the places around their area. When they go out to eat, they become "dayo" themselves. Lalakwatsa ka na rin lang, lumayo ka na. 😁 Especially if you're in commercial places like Greenhills, a better question could probably be "Do you come here often? What's your go-to place to eat?"
*" We're Happy to announce that the 'PABORITO SERIES' will be an on-going series!"* -Jessica and her team♡♡ Petition for SEASON 2 of your PABORITO SERIES please, Jessica Lee....🥺😊☺️💖💙💖 🥰ʘ‿ʘ😊ʘ‿ʘ😊ʘ‿ʘ🥰
For Season 2, Tomas Morato in QC, España/Santa Mesa/Legarda/Quiapo/Vito Cruz in Manila, Marikina, Alabang, and then probably branch out in Antipolo/Cainta/Taytay in Rizal.
DOriginal Pares is really an OG in San Juan. But if you want to explore more of pares, go to Retiro St. in Manila. Greenhills is the commercialized part of San Juan so it must've been the reason why it was so hard to get recos. The Japanese resto where you passed by is a good one - Yuujin. I think it used to be a home that got converted into a resto. You can also try Banaue where there are so many good family owned restos. Also suggest you go to the bus terminals or jeepney terminals if you want to get recos from ordinary people. More power to your channel. Your Filipino skills are getting better:)
18:58 Jessica's authentic reaction.. Parang dika makapaniwala sa Napaka sarap ng kinakain mo na Pares ha. Haha Napaka detailed ng explanation mo. The best Ang Pares at Budget meal, sulit na sulit Ang Pares 💯..
For Season 2, maybe you can ask your whole team what's their "paborito" so you can try it out too. I loved this series so I am hoping for a new season. 🥰
You need to start a conversation with "kuya/ate pwede po magtanong?" if you start with "do you have a minute for interview.", Filipinos usually gets overwhelmed, and you tend to get rejected.
Sa 5 episodes ng 'PABORITO SERIES' mo, alin Ang pinaka PABORITO MO or THE BEST RESTAURANT : 1st ep. - RODIC'S 2nd ep. - Stop N' Go 3rd ep. - Kite Kebab Bar 4th ep. - Three Sister Restaurant 5th ep. - D' Original Pares
sana gumawa ka pa ng mas maraming series/videos mo ngayong 2023.. Your vlogs are relaxing, interesting, calming, entertaining and amazing. Love all your videos, Jess💖💗💖
Just a bit of history about pares... Many pares restaurants claim the title "D'original"... But even before the so-called "D'original" pares got into the pares business. My kuya (cousin) put out one of the very first pares food stand back in 1982 (or 81). It was a feasibility study he did with his group mates for their final thesis as graduating students from their business course in UST. The "original" pares recipe was actually derived from a beef stew recipe of my tita (his mom), when we were kids we ate the leftover beef stew for breakfast and ate it with garlic fried rice together with the broth which was used to soften up the beef, and when we put the broth in small bowls we mixed in some of the sauce to add a little touch of "sosiness" (or sauciness if you may 😁). Back then we always ate this combo whenever our tita cooked her special beef stew and there are leftovers... So when he and his groupmates did a feasibility study for a food business. Since the proposed business was meant for the "masa", instead of the prime cuts of beef my tita used, my cousin used beef trimmings which cost a fraction of the price for a kilo of premium beef. But he stayed true to my tita's recipe, he still used star anise and cinnamon bark for the sauce, but he omitted the root veggies (to reduce costing). So the way he presented it to his potential customers is a small serving bowl of garlic rice, a small bowl of the beef "stew", and a tiny bowl of the beef broth mixed with the sauce of the stew, and I think back then they sold the combo for 10 or 13 pesos (early 80's pa 'to, hehehe). When they started their mock business they called it "special beef bowl combo", but some guys on his group said that the name isn't "masa" sounding... So my cousin said that it was our favourite combo so he just tagalized the word "combo" to pares... First they used the term beef pares, but decided later on to shorten it to just "pares". It was a hit to students when they sold it from a food cart they designed. And after they graduated they thought of opening a proper food stand along P. Campa street in Manila and called it "Original Pares House"... It went on for about five years until each one of them ventured into different ventures (my cousin's whole family migrated to the US)... Later on many pares stands sprouted in different places in Manila, doing their own spin on their pares combos, adding other food items to their menus like siomai and lumpiang Shanghai. Some use innards in their pares, some even have lechon kawali in their pares. You may want to do a whole episode on pares, and I suggest you start with Jona's in Retiro, because it is the real OG pares houses (after my kuya) that are still around. As for other suggestions just refer to RUclips for that. Anhhyeong! 😊👋🏽
What never had a fish Taco? Living in Cali in the USA it’s a food Staple! There is a Food Chain which specializes here in Fish Tacos called Rubio’s! Have expecting it to show up in the Philippines!
Ang lakas ng tawa ko nung tinanong mo what is his favorite in "Pares" and he said pares. Ha ha ha😆😆 I love your "PABORITO SERIES" coz we know now where is the best place and best food to eat. MORE FOR SEASON 2..... KEEP IT UP.....GOODLUCK.... GOD BLESS....🥰💚🤍❤
Since you do series (trabaho, paborito, etc), i would suggest to do a travel vlog series. Go to nearby provincial places (like North & South Luzon) and feature their famous local culture/food/places.
For season 2, you should go to Pampanga. That's the cuisine capital of the Philippines. Also there are a lot more dishes other than adobo and sinigang which I feel is important for you to try and expose to your viewers. Don't get me wrong I think what you're creating and doing is AMAZING. I love watching your videos compared to other RUclipsrs (which I won't name) because you seem so genuine and in touch with your roots with Korea and the Philippines.
Nako Jess, Pares is like the oxygen you breath its EVERYWHERE! As in bawat lingon mo may paresan, all have their own take to it but Pares Retiro is still the king imho but I will try this Paborito of yours as well!
I really love this food series. You are opening the yes to everyone that Filipino food not only on well known-brand or franchise. But lots to discover and try and immersed with.
So ironic. She wandered in the local streets and solicited a lot of pedestrians and residents for recommendations on local short-order dining favorites and she ended up with a Mexican dish that was invented by an American surfer. Fish taco a dish popular in border and beach towns between Ensenada in Baja California and San Diego in the US. This girl is AWESOME though and I'm happy she has more than a million subs. Keep it up.
Grabe, sa huling episode talaga kayo pinahirapan hahaha! Anyway, hoping na next time y'all travel in Visayas and Mindanao. Great series, great stuff, looking forward to Season 2!
I loved this series. Some feedback tho: no need for strict requirements of X years of staying etc, have tried it more than X times.. just anything from a local would be fine :) also ask the name of the person youre interviewing and try to ask other stuff for rapport Other places you can try: - Marikina (Gil fernando, lilac) - QC tomas morato - QC krus na ligas :p - Area 2 UP - SM foodcourt Other gimmicks: - make your own combo sa foodcourt / ask for reco
Just dicovered and subscribed to your channel, I love you what you're doing and how adventurous you are with Filipino food. I'm actually quite jealous you've tried Filipino food I haven't tried before. I think I'm quite adventurous and like both high-end and street type food. But watching this, I was surprised to realize I've never tried eating at a pares place before which I now plan on doing soon.
Really enjoyed this series as well as your improved tagalog skills, Jessica! Just keep conversing with the locals and definitely you’ll get better and better! Also, I would like to suggest that you also try to do this to different places outside the metro. So that you’ll be able to taste the very local food in that place! 😊
It's called Pares (Pairs/Combo meal) because the entire dish consists of Garlic Rice + Beef Camto Soup + Braised Beef. It's my favorite too! Pares have Chinese origins. It used to be Beef Camto Mami/Noodles, but since Rice is Life in the Philippines, it evolved into its current form. Why it's not popular? Let me try and pitch in my thoughts: 1. You can find recipes online, but you'll taste the difference once you eat them at establishments specializing in Pares. 4. Food for the masses/students (check the price of their Pares).
what im really liked about this channel , shes so pro at eating and introducing Filipino food to the other country especially shes always say thanks to my roots because she lives in both country and shes so kind 😊
Nasasad pa naman ako , akala ko wala ng next ep. Thank you for making this paborito series ongoing. I always watch it at night time and I am really craving for the food that you eat, that's why whenever the paborito series is playin , I will also have something to eat. My only fave vlogger! Kahit mejo bulol pa mag tagalog haha cute naman
Kudos Jessica!! Your tagalog is improving!! More content like these and you will be fluent in no time. Ganitong mga segment din natutong magtagalog si Dasuri Choi.
In every food trip channel I watch, I really love it when they show the staff are also eating. Like Jolly and Worth It. Glad I found this channel cos Worth It just ended and I need a new channel to binge watch. Watching all the episodes now has made me think of what food places I will introduce and perhaps places I haven't tried before in my city (Cebu). Thanks for the awesome content!
👍👍. Jessica’s reaction’s every time she ate filipino dishes/food is very authentic, and she will tell you straight of the food is good or so so.. even though Majority or half of her growing years was in the PH,she still exploring different kind of Filipino foods/dishes and introducinb them ro her fellow koreans everytime her Korean friends bisit the PH. Nice one Jessica keep it up..
I loved this episode the most. I appreciate the effort and perseverance you put into this. : ) And yes, next time don't ask for an interview, just say, "Saan po yung masarap na kainan dito?"
Hello, Jessica! Congrats on your first season of PABORITO Series! I loved all the episodes and I'm already excited for Season 2. I hope you and your team can come here in Concepcion, Malabon. There are sooo many good non-franchise restaurants here. This place has been featured by many food vloggers, too. Also, it's not so touristy place like Greenhills, so you can find a lot of local people to interview. Hopefully, I would be one of them! hehe! Hope to see you soon in Malabon! 😍
Many Filipinos' love for Mexican food dates back to the colonial era. Many "Spanish" colonial officers who came here were actually not from Spain but from Nueva España (present day Mexico).
I’m from san juan/laking san juan 😊. You should go to “Aling Banang” isa sa sikat na kainan sa san juan and yung “Golden Chicken” near lang dyan sa pares na kinainan mo, masarap sila both. For dessert sa “Big Scoop” ice cream place sya malapit lang din dyan sa pares masarap ice cream po doon. Malayo kasi yung Greenhills sa sentro ng san juan kaya wala masyadong karinderya. More paborito series to come po❤
This series was so much fun to watch🤗Props to you and your team for making such wonderful contents! I kinda want some behind the scenes or deleted scenes if it's not much to ask lol that's just how much I enjoyed it. Love you, Jes!💗
Grabe habang pinapanood ko to natakam ako.. napa aya tuloy ako sa asawa ko maghanap ng D'Original pares .. luckily meron lang malapit samen.. super satisfied.. 😊 supper yummy🍽
Thank you for entertaining us with this series! Can’t wait for season 2! More power, Jessica & team! By the way, can I suggest doing collabs with Ppop groups, especially my BGYO. ☺️
So the Quezon City video was her most successful paborito series. Too bad she spent hours in San Juan and even the first one 2 hours before she got a food recommendation. It’s really hard to do street interviews in the Philippines. People will always be not in the mood to talk.
Always? I don't think so. I have seen many street interviews where Filipinos were quite willing to share their thoughts and recommendations. I think people just got intimidated when Jessica said "interview". It's better to just ask for their recommendations directly.
@@leihope9472 Yes, that's what I said in her last video, the word "interview" intimidates them and also one other person said the same thing and that Jessica may need to dress up her approach better. I guess no one read our feedback or the videos were recorded earlier.
Beef pares probably is a localized version of chinese beef stew na dinagdagan ng rice/noodles and soup. The difference is mas malaki ung cut ng meat at mas malambot pero same flavor na may star anise.
You guys could've have gone to crame the residential area, salikod lang ng greenhills dun madami locals na pede mag ask ng food place hehehe. May masarap na bbq place dun . 😬
Waiting for season 2 agad 😆😆 Sana gumawa ka rin ng best in the philippines yung pupuntahan mo saan meron best pares, lomi, bulalo, crispy pata, chicharon etc. I've been a follower since the start of pandemic and lagi ko inaabangan bagong uploads mo Ms. Jessica more links, subscribers, comments and shares sa mga videos mo fighting! 🤛🖖🙏
Sobrang enjoy panoodin ng Paborito series nakaka crave mga pagkain ni Jessica but I just wonder, hindi manlang sya nagbo bloated or naiimpacho ba? pero I hope she is really okay sa dami mga foods na mga kinakain nya hehe super good vibes always talaga and I really love your reactions ang cute mo kasi Jessica lalo pag naka smile at tumatawa ka o pag naiiyak na minsan.
16:56 The beef pares looks really good. It made me hungry just looking at it. The sisig, soup and lumpia looks great. You ordered the best. I love the traditional checkered table cloth. Thanks for the post. ❤❤❤
*_beef pares has a star anis. its the one who gives aromatic taste of the sauce. try to visit LILAC st. in MARIKINA CITY. theres a lot of resto and food stall to choose!_*
Try Pares sa Retiro Quezon City,1970's pa yata yun pero di ako sure yung exact year sila nagstart.malapit yan sa mga La Loma Lechon, Yung Dating Sabungan, at Sacred Heart Academy School. you can also try Bulalo there... 😊😊😊
Jessica it's 2:35AM sunday matutulog na ako ee kaso napa click ako sa channel mo grabe pinasakit mo tiyan ko.😅😁 Haaaaaay😱 More power sa YT Channel mo and hopefully magkaroon ka ng TV segment 😇🙌🏾 Godbless 💖
I think its same with Pares Retiro. It has been franchised. There are a lot of franchises around Metro Manila. It not local in San Juan but in Retiro near Laloma.
Hi Jessica, that sprinkles on the top is called tajin, when you have authentic Mexican fruits they add that in. We Filipino put salt but Mexican put Tajin (chili, sea salt and lime)
LT sa plot twist over plot twist over plot twist ng season finale 🤣 destiny really pushed you guys! and by the way fyi about the pares. Yes, pares SHOULD taste that way (mala) because of the "star anise" ingredient on it! That should be the standard taste, texture (lapot) and pure beef meat! Other pares is what we locally call "masarap na, madumi pa" version 🤣 💪
There are a lot of good food places in San Juan. From hole in the wall carinderia favorites all over to your usual restaurants inside GH. But I think these are what you are looking for, hope you try them when you get to come back: 1. Bensons - One of the staple if ihaw ihaw, don't sleep on porkchop with kiampong rice :) 2. Lulu's - They serve Palabok, Pansit, tokwat baboy and crispy dinuguan 3. Aling Banangs - Go for their halo halo These are all situated in Agora Plaza right in front or Puregold.
OMG just watched this episode. Used to be a resident of San Juan. Loved eating there in D'original pares. Sayang, San Juan has a lot to offer like Banang's and Greyson's.
Congratulations on finishing the first season of the Paborito series, Jessica. Looking forward to season 2. Always enjoy your stay in the Philippines. 😊😊
You know a food/dish is too good when you get angry at it. Pares is also my favorite and will always be, especially the ones from sidecar vendors. In my opinion, they are more accessible and cheap for the normal Filipino as they consider it a street food. Pares restaurants nowadays are pricey, but it's still good to know you found a hidden gem of street foods. Thanks Jessica :)
Hi Jessica, I think you're referring to the Leylam Shawarma in Bacolod. :) That's so good, especially the shawarma rice! The only difference that I notice though is that they separate the meat and the rice. Way back in Bacolod I can still recall that they would saute all the ingredients and they will top it with garlic sauce.
If you are in Fairview you can try the best shawarma in TRI-MO, best bulalo in Bulalo Fiesta etc. When in binondo you can try Delicious Restaurant- fried chicken and special miki-bihon, Ambos Mundos Restaurant - Fried rice, Asado, lumpiang Shanghai, lechon tausi. Ha-Yuan restaurant - Maki-mi, Kanto-Mi and Fresh Lumpia Thanks
Greenhills local here... Since greenhills is mostly consist of the high end subdivisions. I can say most of us have cars and dont normally walk around the streets. You will find it hard to look for locals. I can suggest eating at Le Ching, Tori Tori, and Eat Fresh😊
I think much better instead of asking them for a minute to interview just ask them like "pwede magtanong?" because most of the filipinos will be shy if they think that it would be a serious interview about something in general hence, they're scared everytime you ask them for an interview.
Pwede magtanong, kala nila isang tanong lang tapos ang labas pala interview. Lokohan yun paano kung ayaw nila madaming tanong at may pupuntahan sila.
Yes! You can ask them directly what's your question cause most of that kind of approach will think na you're a networker

Watching all the episodes now has made me think of what food places I will introduce and perhaps places I haven't tried before in my city (Cebu). Thanks for the awesome content!
I love this series! Next time sana outside Manila naman 😊
Grabeng effort para sa content na ito! ✨💕
2020/Pandemic days nung first time ko natikman yung Beef Pares and that day, i fell inlove with Pares. Best comfort food for mee!!
Many Filipinos' love for Mexican food dates back to the colonial era. Many "Spanish" colonial officers who came here were actually not from Spain but from Nueva España (present day Mexico).
I COME FROM HONGKONG,thank you introduce the Philippines's food and culture, napaka interesante
Season 2,3,etc.please ms.jessica
My favorite part is when Jessica tasted the beef then said "It's Jessing time" then Jessed all over the stew.
Nung pinapanuod ko itong si miss jessica ilang libo pa lang ang supporters. Now million na. Galing👏👏 nice content. Godbless
I like how jessica is stepping up as a youtuber right now. I can see the effort and more creative contents. Keep it up! ❤
Its my first Pares at San Juan, and now mataas cholesterol ko dahil fav ko pares 😅 super dami na nila branch
Thank you for entertaining us with this series! Can’t wait for season 2! More power, Jessica & team!
By the way, can I suggest doing collabs with Ppop groups, especially my BGYO. ☺️
I love food so please do a season 2 Jessica, and always admire your humility as a person, Godbless 😊
Hi beautiful thank you sa pagpapakilala at pagmamahal sa.pinoy godbless
Beef pares probably is a localized version of chinese beef stew na dinagdagan ng rice/noodles and soup. The difference is mas malaki ung cut ng meat at mas malambot pero same flavor na may star anise.
Hope to see and watch more of ypur paborito series🙏. Love it♥️
I alread eat in d'origal pares.. ung tapsi nila gooods din... soooo part 2 nmn
Grabee talaga!! Nakakagutom yung mga food na gi-try ni Idol Jessice.. haiiisst!! Sana, ma-meet ko po si Ate Jessica in person. Manifesting!!🙇♂️☺🥰
Go to food ko tlga ang pares nung nasa manila pako..hayyy ka miss ang pares sa bangketa oi❤❤❤
You guys could've have gone to crame the residential area, salikod lang ng greenhills dun madami locals na pede mag ask ng food place hehehe. May masarap na bbq place dun . 😬
agree mga taga greenhills subdivisions alam nila
I suggest you also try the Bulalo at "Aling Sosing" at Dian street Makati. Its a popular carinderia.
Waiting for season 2 agad 😆😆 Sana gumawa ka rin ng best in the philippines yung pupuntahan mo saan meron best pares, lomi, bulalo, crispy pata, chicharon etc. I've been a follower since the start of pandemic and lagi ko inaabangan bagong uploads mo Ms. Jessica more links, subscribers, comments and shares sa mga videos mo fighting! 🤛🖖🙏
16:56 The beef pares looks really good. It made me hungry just looking at it. The sisig, soup and lumpia looks great. You ordered the best. I love the traditional checkered table cloth. Thanks for the post. ❤❤❤
I’ll try those restaurants on my next Philippine visit. Thanks.
Jessica it's 2:35AM sunday matutulog na ako ee kaso napa click ako sa channel mo grabe pinasakit mo tiyan ko.😅😁
Haaaaaay😱
More power sa YT Channel mo and hopefully magkaroon ka ng TV segment 😇🙌🏾 Godbless 💖
Yey! Thank you sa continuity ng paborito series 💪
Santa Jessica lubos kang nakakaunawa!
Tugon: salamat at dininig mo kami.
But I think these are what you are looking for, hope you try them when you get to come back:
1. Bensons - One of the staple if ihaw ihaw, don't sleep on porkchop with kiampong rice :)
2. Lulu's - They serve Palabok, Pansit, tokwat baboy and crispy dinuguan
3. Aling Banangs - Go for their halo halo
These are all situated in Agora Plaza right in front or Puregold.
I was born and raised here, btw :)
I hope you continue this paborito series Ms. Jessica its entertaining and informative. 💓👍
Pares is my paborito too. Especially on rainy days or whenever i feel sick. Comfort food.
OMG just watched this episode. Used to be a resident of San Juan. Loved eating there in D'original pares. Sayang, San Juan has a lot to offer like Banang's and Greyson's.
yaaaayyy!!i love paborito series!!
Jessica I Love all your series I enjoy watching please make more video always take care God Bless
Make more videos of paborito series ..ilove watching you eat different kinds of foods and different places .. thank you.
Thanks Jessica :)
please continue this paborito series... filipino love to eat food,
Glad to see you enjoying and promoting Filipino foods.
Hi Jessica, I think you're referring to the Leylam Shawarma in Bacolod. :)
That's so good, especially the shawarma rice!
