- We are back by popular demand and the project making some good progress in the woods. Now who do we need to talk to about getting those trees sorted.
We took the FTX Apache and Corally SparkXB6 for a spin around the track to test how drivable it is. Авто/Мото
I got the rubbish out of the river with my waders on :) Glad i could help
Well done on the work you did, will earn brownie points hopefully in favour of it being allowed racing again
My mate Kev absolutely done the back end of that straight. I'm more of a litter picking guy.
This is such great series , it's nice to see rc tracks coming back rather than disappearing. Maybe I'm biased becuase I like this style of racing but this track to me screams RALLY CROSS. part dirt part asphalt= much sliding. Imagine the tamiya mk2 escort rally or the kyosho datsun rally car hooning round those corners slinging mud that be fun. Please guys keep it up. Cant wait to see what's next.
There is another abandoned off road track in Basingstoke. It had uk nationals and was once probably one of the best facilities in the south.
Aye lookin good mates! Keep it up! I can't wait to see how this ends
Make it into a rally circuit and get people interested in slinging some dirt! 👍
Great progress has been made with the track. I don't know if it's practical or possible, but power washers might be able to clear the track even more. It could be used as a rally track possibly. I don't think the trees growing there are rare or endangered. May be you can suggest that if the trees which are in the way could be removed new trees could be planted somewhere else on the property.
Soooo damn close but so damn far at the moment sametime....You got this Popalong gang
Keep scraping it up lads, top work to you all. The amount of compost thats there from the years...
Won't be long and back to it glory ❤
I raced at a track in St Albans circa 1983/4/5 - buggies - but it was at a school playground near the A414 (M10 as was), not the track shown in the photos. Good video.
cheers Dave
I popped along the other weekend to have a look where it is. You guys are spot on on what is required. Trees need to be thinned so good luck with getting permissions (and if someone knew what they were doing they could use that very wood to make a low level podium/step for people to stand on and race).
Wow that's coming along nicely 👍 great team work everyone 👏
Can't wait to see a video of a proper session on that track when it is fully uncovered!
Great video. Great trophy collection Carl.... mini Cooper looks great as a centerpiece.
It's looking it may never be a full road racing track again but could be a good rally cross track.
As it stands now, the track looks like something from Mario Kart, the Donkey Kong Jungle course. Cheers to the people who've contributed to the clean up.
hahaha
Cool little video, quite sobering to see how overgrown the area is when you see how open the track was seemingly not that long ago.... I seem to remember reading some race meeting reviews from the St Albans track in Radio Race Car magazine back in the day - did they run a round of the Tamiya Eurocup there? To reinstate the track properly to race on I guess wouldn’t be possible, especially with all the trees around, I remember racing on the old outdoor track at Wolverton Park (MK) & the track was always slimy where it ran beneath the trees alongside the canal.
great to see a little more progress, you are right though without some agreements from the landlord and a wheelbarrow full of cash it will never be a race track again. Still, plenty of fun to be had bashing your cars about a bit. Where are the grass race tracks that you show on your opening vid? My 6 year old son loves bashing and jumping and he is a surprisingly skilled little driver and what he is asking me now is where can he race his cars?
Portable gas power sprayer could help with the surface grim you should give it a go. 😊
With the tarmac being covered in dirt for so long it would rip it up, your better off scraping it up and letting it dry to be broomed off is the way forward
Really great work that you guys are doing trying to restore the track and drum up some support from it.
Are there any local model shops that could start getting on side too?
As others have said it looks like it would be perfect as a rally track as it seems to be fairly smooth but with loose dirt.
I imagine some grids full of TT-02 rally cars going round could get some new people interested.
Nice to see it didn't get made into a car park ilke Ashby wolds Donisthorpe was made in to a marina for the canal two great club's in there time
Looks like it would be fantastic for rally racing right now
What a great job everyone has been doing ❤
great to see how far it has come
that looks amazing! hope to race it one day ! :)
If the current owners allow the trees and bushes to be removed, it would still need resurfacing (if you’d want it to be a on-road track) and curb restorations, plus facilities for pitting and a drivers stand… Would be nice if there were people/businesses/organizations(/local government) willing to invest in it. It would still make a pretty nice mixed surface offroad/rallycross track if you would only be allowed to remove the trees/bushes… facilities like pits and drivers stand can always be temporary if need be…
personally prefer a loose surface track, go with what you have,I find tar/hardsurface tracks a bit boring and there are plenty of those around already.
they did say in the video it will never be what it was, so i dont think they plan to completely restore it to what it once was, most likely wont happen either since they´re not even allowed to touch the trees
Looks like it's gonna be rally. The trees won't be a issue as you're right near the car.
The run around behind the car rally events
@@PopalongRC exactly.
It's a lot of fun and doesn't require cutting down the trees.
I don't see why you it needs to have any the trees cut, and loose surface tracks are a lot more fun than hardtop imo,get the rally cross and shortcourse on there ,they would soon clear some racing lines.
Awesome, who owns the land?
Would look mint with a good water blasting, some trees trimmed and a drivers stand. And obviously repairs to the surface
Hi Guys would you have a list of off road vintage (i have a B stamp RC10, just re-building it ) racing events in the UK indoor or outdoor that i might be able to get in to race. Keep up the good work & “banter” 😂👍
Maybe you could add a small rally cross section in there (not covering the entire track just enough for something to get the RC community going in new directions of diversity and FUN 🤔👍🏻) as well that would be great I don’t know if there’s any other tracks with a rally cross section, it would only take a few minutes for a crack team of members with brushes to get out and sweep up any mess that may cause a problem with the other classes 👍🏻
Maybe if "you" commit to plant xx trees elsewhere, they would allow to cut them down ? It will be a pain to maintain, "fruits" in summer, leaves in autumn, never dry in winter and spring. But it's already not bad to "bash" on it 😊
Hats off to the track!
Yep that's the timing loop lads
awesome
Is mark sounds jealous.😂
cannot really move forward until a permission to cut the trees can be obtained
✌🏻😎🏴I think it would be cool to use for random rc activities as long as trees don’t get cut down 👍🏻
In comparison you see what nature does if no one is around for some time.
