Agree with video…. Been using them for 30 years. No transom issues, no motor/trim issues. Make sure that you do not draw down too tight on the bar. That can be worse than not having one. Places more stress on transom and lower unit. You do not want this to be part of a boat/trailer stability system. Lay the motor slight snug. The bar is to support the motor while on the road. Not be structural part of the trailer tie down. Also, adjust the bar to have a minimum, but high enough tilt to avoid road hazards. However not tilt cranked real high. The defeats some of the purpose of the bar support.
Thank you for the video - I agree wholly on the use of a support bracket for an outboard motor. Does Mercury Marine recommend the use of a support bracket for an I/O motor?
