Considering that T-34s, Panzer IVs, and M4s served well beyond WWII in other countries during the Cold War, I bet there’s gotta be a few instances of them being hit by ATGMs. There’s also an instance where a T-34 memorial was used as a decoy in Ukraine
There was an SU-100 in Syria that got taken out by a TOW missile. Or further back in the Yom Kippur War, Isreal was still using Sherman tanks (albeit many were upgraded ones) that faced the infamous AT-3 Sagger missile (Soviet Designation: 9M14 “Malyutka”)
It seems to me that the fault of modern tanks is that they underestimated the danger of old tanks at the beginning of the round. They realized their situation too late, when they could do nothing, and were surrounded. The last T-90 played well, fighting to the last, but he was left alone, and there were too many opponents.
I was in T-80BVM, but yeah even if I had one shot every single one of them I didn't had enough missiles, if my teamates did a little bit more kills I may could winning that round.
The answer to your question is surprisingly yes! There's a video of a t-34 being used as a gun emplacement in Yemen getting struck by an ATGM, I found a copy here on RUclips; ruclips.net/video/17zNO-PduVw/видео.html (Also great video!)
this really does highlight how good the WWII puma is if used correctly i use it all the time and im almost at Tier 4 not to mention the artillery/spotting ability with a full crew
The reason the aim looks so shaky when you have replays is because it's footage recorded from the server, and the server doesn't compensate for the lag that people have when demos are recorded
WWII tanks and ATGMs have some equal level of visions... during the day that is. When night falls, ATGMs become nocturnal beasts and their maximum potential is formed like how Escanor is at full power when it is noon and depowered during nighttime.
@Thunder Muffin, the only battle that comes to mind that closest resembles atgms vs. ww2 tanks would be yom kipper war. When Egypt used 1st gen atgms against Israel, who had m51 shermans, m48 pattons, and centurions. Although i dont know if any M51s were actually engaged by atgms.
There are still T34s being used, in combat by Houthi rebels in Yemen, even videos on youtube. Also, M36s were still in use in countries until recently. Chaffees are still in use by a few countries, some M8 and M5s are still used in upgraded variants.
The war that most likely that ATGMs would have gone against WW2 era tanks is the Yom Kippur War in 1972. Also I guess the civil war in Yemen there was a case of an ATGM destroyed a T-34-85.
Hi Muffin. I participated in this challenge rounds 2 going on, and I have to admit I kinda cheated because I was told the M41A1 Walker Bulldog was allowed, and it has NVD, so I could see during the night battles :/
two weeks ago when I was playing China 8.7 I came across a full downtier, moments after I entered the position in my AFT I saw a maus rolling down the road, and fluently slammed a 1200mm pen tandem-HEAT ATGM on his UFP and promptly sending him back to the hanger
A hint to deal with missiles, bind a convenient key to the option to switch gunner ain to your Top mounted machinegun in order to shoot missiles down much more reliably
I think maybe in some of the early Arab Israeli wars, many Israeli upgraded Shermans/Pattons were hit by early atgms when advancing in areas where they weren't aware of the dangers posed by man portable atgms. I think this was in the early 60s but I can't remember
I recall during the conflict in Syria a few ago pictures of a few WW2 era tanks in use popped up, notably pictures of a destroyed Soviet tank destroyer taken out by a missle. There were debates on K board on 4chan of what kind of tank it was and how many were in use. Apparently after WW2 Syria ended up with outdated from Soviet and German origins, some of which may have just sat in warehouses after being retired only to be reactivated in the civil war, other examples include pictures of German Stg-44s rifles in use and I think there was also a single late generation Panzer IV that showed up in some images dug in as a fixed defense.
Israel did have MIM-23 HAWK surface-to-air missiles in the six day war so maybe they had ATGMs too idk? The Arab countries did use WW2 tanks in the war too
You did good and yes, I just picked the player that did the best that round because with night vision on the atgm side it’s not very pleasant to watch imo and just wanted to do a quick highlight of what happened:)
I don't think the ATGM's will win, could very well be wrong but like.. the ATGM's take quite long to arrive, and can be quite squishy. In the meanwhile normal WW2 tanks can still just engage at long range for a lot of the ATGM carriers. And for the more tanky ones all they need to do is come up to a closer range by flanking. Not to mention the ATGM's very long reload.. I don't like their odds.
You should stick with only ATGM carriers, it is not even fair that a T90 or a T80 is in the field. Make it so that the WW2 tanks can kill the ATGM carrier no matter what range.
I'm imagening that i have heard that panzer 4s where used in the 6 days war between israel and aegypt, etc. That would work from the timeline but i haven't seen any records of it happening.
muffin could you do a challenge (kv-85 versus 1 maus 5, 10, 15 kv-85 1, 2, 3, maus so every 5 kv-85 there is one more maus added I hope you can consider this (I know that you did 1945 ussr versus maus I’m kinda just switching it up a bit) or maybe 60 l3/33 ccs versus 5 kv-85s?
13:13 Not really. ATGMs typically need large projectile diameters to be effective these days. Gun fired ATGMs are simply not large enough to penetrate the frontal armor of a modern MBT. Gun fired missiles top out a 900mm of penetration and modern MBTs typically have over 1000mm of RHAe for HEAT on their frontal armor. I think gun fired missiles are most useful as a way of dealing with armored targets out of range if the main gun, especially to deal with IFVs or ATGM carriers that can outrange conventional rounds fired from the main gun.
Also the panther 2 does have night vision and I really thing gaijin should add night vision to the normal panther a or g, also Israel had used Sherman’s all the way into to 70s so there is the possibility some may have been hit by an atgm
@@oelholm yes they did the panther a & g models were equipped in limited numbers with night vision systems, and before u say that’s not true there are images proving it and a museum has a panther with all the mounts for the system on the tank still its just missing the infrared light and nvd scope

Yeah I would think so too!
I heard that the T-34 is still in service with some African countries. I don't know if this is true or not.
Yeah, it seems plausible a T-34 could have been hit by an ATGM in the Yugoslav wars.
@@alexshepherd1741 the democratic republic of congo uses them - they work fine when all you're doing is depressing rebel groups and protesters

Yeah, Puma's can punch well above their weight class.
Exactly. Puma and BT are too good to fight only on their own BR.
yeah i got 2 nukes in it one at 9.7 and another at 10.7
Am I the only one who uses anti tank missiles against air craft?
If you are mentally challenged just say that
no

Nice work Muffin! I love these new and creative ideas! (Maybe you could do something with the biggest planes vs the smallest planes?)
yes
Thank you!
Suggestion: Best WW2 vehicles vs worst post WW2 vehicles
This could maybe be done with 5 or 10 different vehicles on each side.

Maybe the fastest vs the slowest plane? I think this would be PO-2 vs F-104.
Yak 28 is fastest in game apparently
I’m so close to getting the American squad tank with the missiles lol
great video man, you are so creative and you're such a good narrator. even improving as a narrator.
Thank you!
I feel like round 2 was super winnable for the ATGM side, they just didn't use their advantages very well.
Do Abrams against prop planes
Can you do a B17 Formation Vs Me 109‘a and 262’s? Or Royal Navy vs Kriegsmarine?
Yeah in cyprus 1974 i think, some cypriot t34s where hit by turkish rpgs

the Taliban and others used the isu152 so probably
I think a good challenge would be tanks using only their main cannons, no machine guns, guided missiles, or AA, to take out bombers.

What about Helicopters with bombs vs heavy tanks/Maus 🤔
bringing t80 and mbt70 is just criminal
Im pretty sure that israel actually used a panzer IV 70 till the 1990’s
