For me its not just the fantastic ball control, its the astonishing level of spatial awareness, vision and timing he had. Its like he always had a map in his mind of not only where the ball is at any given moment, but also where all the other players are at that same moment. Plus its like he could see 5 or 10 seconds into the future in his mind map so he would know where they would all be when his pass arrived at its destination. Simply the best there has ever been.
Capello has a similar analysis related who is best for him. He said 3 names: Pele, Maradona and Messi. He played against Pele and he was a trainer when he faced the other two. They have a vision wiyj the capability too see and foresee what others can't.
haha is that why he only scored a total of 8 goals in four World Cup tournaments ... stuck in the past much or is it just a matter of low standards or is it that Pele and his exploits do not exist in your world. aka three world cup titles for Brazil?

What a one sided image you have about modern football players. Check out 'Frenkie Feints' by Ajax TV to see a great young player asking the referee for extra injury time, just because he loves to play! The original quote from Frenkie: Geef wel even wat blessuretijd, ik wil zo lang mogelijk voetballen, ja? Please give some injury time, I want to play as long as possible, okay?
I haven’t seen a better player and I’ve been watching since 74. Others are right it’s very hard to explain just how good he was. Brutally tackled every game, playing on broken pitches, constantly singled out and yet his genius always shone.
At 55, and still watching football, I grew up watching Maradona, Valdano, and the gang win it all in 86. It was a feeling that still sends chills down my spine.
He once said "Sometimes when I am driving I see young football teams training and it is coaching...coaching...coaching and I think back to my own childhood and the mastery of a football or even an orange. People have often asked me how I became so good at football and I always reply that mastery of the ball is everything, I understand how a football lands and where to strike it to make it do different things, all that comes from my childhood and not endless drills!"
It makes sense,in the last decade football became "robotic",to much tactics, wingers are not wingers anymore, pure number 10's are missing, that street talent is lacking because of that mentality given to the young players. I'm saying this for many years,if i was born today i wouldnt love football so much, sometimes i see myself switching to the Nba even if a good football game is at the same hour. It hurts a little because i played football since i was 5,i still have passion for the game but i dont love it anymore.
@@miguelpereira1262 Agreed. I have a friend who was very talented and would play with freedom. He was signed into a big U.K. club and they told him he wasn’t allowed to run with the ball. If he did they substituted him. He is now just a passing basic player with no flair. Very sad
"When I realized that in Verona, Bergamo, Brescia, Milan, they were welcoming us with banners saying 'Welcome to Italy' or 'Wash yourselves', I understood that we were there for something more than a football match". Diego Armando Maradona Son of Naples
@@peaceandlove544 Verona, Bergamo, Brescia, Milan, Turin, etc .. are cities in Northern Italy. Diego's sentence explained the racism of Northern Italians against the Neapolitans. When he went to play for the first time with the Napoli team in the stadiums of Northern Italy, he understood the social battle. So... he understood what it meant for the Neapolitans to win in those cities \ stadium ... The Neapolitans loved him so much for this. Up to idolize it. (There are historical reasons: Napoli was the capital of the ancient kingdom of the Two Sicilies. It was destroyed by English and Italian masonry to create Italy). Italy was born and even today administered through policies of internal racism against the lands and people of the South. Basically, Northern Italians (since 1861) were brought up to hate those of the South. This is the DNA of the Italian flag (false nation). Again in 2020 .. Corruption.
Napoli start winning after Careca e Alemão join the team. You guys no nothing, sure Maradona was the star. Now Careca was who scored most of the goals,so he never won the scudetto by himself. 86 had Valdano,Burruchaga.Graziani,Passarella,Ruggeri a pretty good team. If wasn't Burruchaga they would play overtime.Sure he was the best and scored that amazing goal against England.also the other playing volley. Now Argentina never won ever since,Messi great Barcelona player that's all.
@@markriobr i dont think so, Ruggeri, Burruchaga, (and so on) werent considered as superstars, they were just average players who just played good occasionally. In 1982, since Maradona's debut, Argentina slowly become a great team, in 1982 Maradona was still young, he showed fantastic performance but wasnt get enough attention because Italy's compactness and Brazillian greatest team ever. In 1986 and 1990, Maradona almost single handedly led Argentina to the finals, many chances he made wasnt converted to a goal by his teammates. Even German were scared of him, and forced Beckenbauer to give Matthaus an order to mark him at all costs. Maradona's teammates played good only in WC due to Maradona's leadership and charisma. Napaleon says "if a lion lead 100 dogs in a war, they would fight like a lion" and vice versa. Similiar situation occured in Napoli. Careca was just an average player, and the most goals scored by Maradona not him, and Hamsik broke it a year ago. Would you call Luca Toni was a superstar? He played good, but was still considered as an average-good player. You said Messi only great for Barcelona, you're the one who knows nothing perhaps. Maradona is number one for me and Messi second tho.

I remember thinking during the 2014 World Cup Final when Messi had that free kick right at the end of the game that if Maradona was taking it he would have scored in that moment of extreme pressure and importance. I love both but that is what Maradona has that Messi doesn't.
@@nickoldschoolrules52 I'm not sure, I don't think he would have considering the angle of the shot. Both have missed big sitters in their respective careers but Maradona had some brighter spots than Messi, hence why he's just that bit better.
Yodito Nugrahacky : Even without all that stuff he already was untouchable. And bare in mind that football pitches were of horrible quality then, the opposite of what they are these days. Also defenders were far more ruthless then and referees hardly protected strikers such as Maradona. It was like open hunting season.
What about when Kings,Queens,Presidents and any player run to take a picture with you?Wherever you go the world seems to stop around as you walk, all that when your last game was almost 50 years ago.

Plus its like he could see 5 or 10 seconds into the future in his mind map so he would know where they would all be when his pass arrived at its destination. Simply the best there has ever been.
Very apt analysis 👍🏼
Capello has a similar analysis related who is best for him. He said 3 names: Pele, Maradona and Messi. He played against Pele and he was a trainer when he faced the other two. They have a vision wiyj the capability too see and foresee what others can't.

I am 55 too, Maradona and Caniggia doing lines of coke when they both played in Italy... what a time 🤣🤣
He once said "Sometimes when I am driving I see young football teams training and it is coaching...coaching...coaching and I think back to my own childhood and the mastery of a football or even an orange. People have often asked me how I became so good at football and I always reply that mastery of the ball is everything, I understand how a football lands and where to strike it to make it do different things, all that comes from my childhood and not endless drills!"
Fantastic
Ok sona
It makes sense. Nice!

@@Yiannis2112 lol are you comparing Henry, Scholes, Rual and Gerrard to Maradona ah you'd want to head off there and give your head a little shake or come off those tablets you may or may not be taking making statements like that. I hope your day job is a comedian?? Because that's the funniest thing I've heard in years!!
@@markcuskelly I'm not sure who needs some shaking, since I never said I compare them to him, but only said that they probably know what they're talking about much, much better than you do. On the other hand you turned out to be one those pricks who don't comment on what is actually written, but on what they would've liked to.
Scotland loved & misses Diego Armando Maradona 🇦🇷🏴
