Ive been watching football for 40 years, it doesnt mean I'm right, but of all the players Ive seen no one comes near maradona. I'm not saying no one is better, Ive said no one is even near him in terms of sheer fantasy with the ball, magic, charisma. Guys like cristiano or messi sure scored a lot more goals and had more assist, were both a lot more professional than Diego, but Diego's genius is something both could only aspire to have
I'm not even a football fan. I remember watching the sports news for Hockey and baseball. When they talk about football i only look the screen if i heard the name Maradona and was fascinating by the way he run and control the ball. The sheer brutality of the tackles hardly any tried to play the ball, he had to beat the opponents then ride the challenge or anticipate the foul to avoid it. Quite simply the best there has ever been no debate, and by a million miles better than Messi and Ronaldo.

How can Messi never have come close when he has achieved more individually and collectively when just comparing them for Argentina; let alone their club careers. Maradona was incredible but Messi has long surpassed him.
@@Maraessi10 because maradona did it more or less alone, Messi was surrounded by superstars that made it easy for him, also the pitches were horrendous on some occasions whereas Messi was playing on pitches like carpet, maradona was also technically better & was often targeted & received leg breaking tackles which nearly ended his career thx to the Butcher of Bilboa,Messi was protected, maradona went to unfashionable & struggling Napoli with average players & won them there first ever Scudetto then followed that by winning 4 times in a row along with many other cups hence the reason in Napoli even today he is respected like a GOD, Messi although technically similar & most like him was still not even close, maradona was on a different level 🇬🇧⚒
@@TheWESTSIDE1967 No question he didn't have the calibre of teammates Messi had, but saying he did it alone is not the reality of things. For example, what often isn't mentioned in regards to Napoli is that they signed Maradona for a world record fee, and brought in many players to improve their team. This included the likes of Ciro Ferrara, Garella (who was the starting keeper when Verona won the title) Bagni from Inter, Giordano, Italian internationals De Napoli and Bagni. Then after their first title win they signed Brazilian internationals Careca and Alemao, who were key in their second title and UEFA cup win. As much as he was the biggest factor for them, these signings improved the side around him a lot. Saying he was technically better is purely subjective. Both are incredible in that respect. However, a key aspect Messi does have more so than Maradona is he's a more consistent matchwinner and goalscorer. He also has more accuracy and consistency with his shots. That extra dimension as one of the best goalscorers ever is something Maradona lacked, even though of course he played in a deeper role.

He used his right foot so rarely that he scored about six goals with it during his entire career , He is probably the most one-footed player in history
Closest thing I’ve ever seen to Maradona is Luis Suarez. People will laugh at that because Suarez was such a troublesome individual, but Diego was also troubled. Suarez would chase lost balls, retrieve them and create goals out of nothing. I’ve seen a lot of world class players playing for Liverpool in the last 45 years, Suarez was the best.
There are very few sportsman that were better than all before them and all after them, Salvador Sanchez in boxing, Ronnie O'sullivan in snooker, and Maradona in football. I was 19 when the best performance over any tournament was Maradona 1986. There is NO player that comes close to what he did in that tournament game after game. May be the best performance he has achieved in football was against Belgium, the goal he scored against England was best goal ever scored, and what people don't realise was that pitch had only been laid, it was nothing more than square parts of grass all over pitch that moved when u ran on it, not only that it was like playing on the marshes as it was so uneven. Gary Linker said the pitch was the worst he ever played on. Back then pitches were not like today so that tells u how bad that pitch was. He moved with pace, the ball weaving around his left foot, skipping past players as if they were not their and then to make the goal perfect, he guided by Shilton ( excellent keeper) and full pace and slotted ot home. There is not a player in history that could of done that. He one that would cup by himself. Then 1990 he scored that wonder goal and banned from world Cup, they would of one that tournament if he stayed in. The old footage of him all over Internet in his playing days has never been matched. They uses tackle around neck then, he was butchered all through 90mim in every game he ever played in, they played on poor condition pitches, he had heavy boots not like today, the ball was heavy not like the ball is today, he played with average players where Messi and Ronaldo have had superstars around them, Maradona literally had make things happen himself. There will never be another player like him. And when he was getting chopped down he get up and not moan and carry on. You never seen him rolling around. When he went down it was hard and in a brutal way and still he kept his calm. Messi and Ronaldo don't even come close to him. There oceans apart as players. Linker said at Barcelona during a warm.up, he was in centre circle, and he banged the ball in air with laces undone, way up into air, ball come down straight on same foot and BANG up into air again, Linker said he did this 13 times and furthest he moved was 3 paces. Everyone in team tried it nect day and the most was done was 3 and they were racing to try to get to ball. We're talking kicking the ball as hard as you can into air, not just little kick, proper smashing the ball into air. Insane.
@@marksweeney9515 everything you are telling is approved. I also saw that video with Lineker. He also said the only moment in his life on the pitch he had the strong desire to applause an opponent was Maradona shooting the 2nd goal against Emgland. Of course he didn't
@MilesKane-gy6rh hi. U then heard Lineker say ' it was the worst pitch he ever played on'. He said they had on laid the grass day before in square patches all over pitch that had not set and that every grid patch moved under your feet when u moved on it, that the surface was so bumpy and it was hard keep your balance. You would never know that with Maradona goal. However the performance against Belgium was the best performance I have ever seen by any player in any game. All this talk about Messi and Ronaldo been the best is absolute nonsense. They always had elite players around them feeding them passes where Maradona has average players around him and had to do most of work himself at world cup and Napoli. He was way above those 2 players. Back then Maradona was marked by sometimes 3 players, they hacked at him at every opportunity, yet he never complained. The tackles were vicious back then unlike today.
Diego had to wear a left boot two sizes larger due to swelling caused by foul tackles.

It would be laughable, he'd be unstoppable
He should be banned. Because any team with Maradona effectively has 12 players at least..
He would be even better.
If only like Messi , he got the protection in his private and pitch life . Nobody born after 1980 would ever understand why I think Maradona is incomparable . Messi far far away ... He was very lucky in an age of growth hormones , good safety , science for the care of body . And he never encountered the " butcher of bilbao " ... Shortened Maradona ankle lifespan till 1989 ... 1990 onwards he is constantly plagued with injuries on the ankle . Who would care ? Who would even bat an eyelid to give Diego some excuse . Everybody looks at statistics only nowadays
Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo the best
1:00 Great dribbling with final assist for Caniggia.
I remember that match: Argentina didn't play well and Diego neither but he only had one good chance in all match and he turned it into s magic play giving Argentina the victory
You must be old now
Ive been watching football for 40 years, it doesnt mean I'm right, but of all the players Ive seen no one comes near maradona.

I remember watching the sports news for Hockey and baseball. When they talk about football i only look the screen if i heard the name Maradona and was fascinating by the way he run and control the ball.
Imagine if he was playing in this virtually non-contact modern football. He would have excelled, even more. Unreal talent.
In 86-90 he was 20 years ahead of his time, a genius, the greatest player of all time and it's not even close
When I hear Messi or Ronaldo were the greatest, I remember Maradona won by playing against the likes of Maldini, Baresi, Gentile, Bergomi and countless upon countless of hardmen. He played against the best week in, week out
The sheer brutality of the tackles hardly any tried to play the ball, he had to beat the opponents then ride the challenge or anticipate the foul to avoid it. Quite simply the best there has ever been no debate, and by a million miles better than Messi and Ronaldo.

Messi never came close, maradona was from another planet, The Best player in the world, we will never see his kind again 🇬🇧⚒ ⚽️🏃♂️
@@Maraessi10 yes messi was a front man maradona was midfield & was more in defence also helping out, you have to also consider the pitches in maradona's day were terrible, watching vids you can see the ball bobbing everywhere, there like carpets today, messi never got abused like maradona if he did it would of affected his game for sure, maradona was always expecting a bad tackle but regardless he just played keep ball, messi was the closest to maradona technically but in my opinion given the facts i spoke about maradona was better, i know for a fact that messi would of trained or been trained to be the new maradona & to replace him, but not quite
Which accolade ? The laughable balon dors ? Or liga title or a euro cup like the asian or african continents club tournament which not even 1 percent of world watches....messi and ronaldo7 cannot be even compared 2 zidane or R9...let alone maradona 🎉🎉🎉
Defending players of that period were real "human axes"... Maradona the eternal magician....!
In Modern football if you want a player like him to be back again then you need the ball to have way more friction on grass so that its doesnt fly that much and gives eniugh time for genius creativity. Thats what is missing from Modern footy and also what separates Maradona from Messi where Maradona's creativity is way more complex both in dribbling and passing.

A gift from Argentina. Maradona and Messi ❤️
You mean what type of vertical shot?

What about Penaldo 😂😂
@reathGatluak Penaldo was (or is) a very fast player, very strong and smart on the field, with great stamina and a hard shooter, who can jump quite high and score greatly with his head. He's a bad team player, very selfish, and a not-so-good dribbler. I don't particularly like him, and I would prefer not to have him on my team.
And as brilliant as he was, he always tried to pick out a teammate in a better position. A great team player

When you have a left foot that was blessed by GOD you dont need to use your right that often my g
Tends to be eaggerated. Maradona has scored flying volleys with his right so its not like he was bad with it.
If Maradona was around today with the ball they play with which is light, the technolgy of the boots, the sublime playing pitches, and players are more protected, imagine what level he would be at. He will never be bettered.
