Simply awesome thanks so much for posting. I had never heard of Fuente before watching this and the eqully brilliant “stars and watercarriers”. What an exciting climber similar to Pantani.
Hard men in a steel bike era before carbon fiber, aero everything, clipless pedals, index shifting, helmets and EPO (although doping by other means was going on).
I hear the Italians tried to frame Eddy on a drugs charge just after the start of his career, and I'm sure that helped turned him into a cannibal with a thirst for revenge and made him determined to win every race he entered..;)
Thanks for posting this rare film. All the best to you...
José Manuel Fuente Lavandera, CAMPEON. Fuiste la pesadilla de Merckx en el Giro.
i love the old riders more than the riders of today. so much tougher. more pure.

indeed the best ever..EDDY
Gimondi.................. ALWAYS such a total CLASS ACT.
death2pc Merckx, Fuente and Baroncelli all seemed class acts as well. This era seems so elegant to me.

Yes, Fuente almost stole the show in that one and I'm surprised he never went on to become a superstar.
highlight of the show was the vocal on Fuente's descent.. inspired!

dodici secondi.....
I shared this fine documentary on the page where cyclists meet: facebook.com/groups/wielrennenANEKDOTES/
The cyclists looked like MEN in those days, but todays cyclists look like little boys in their poncey helmets..:)
