the only part that confuses me is "pay" taxes... im quite certain they are "taken". "pay" implies consent. I mean if you dont allow the taxes to be taken you get punished but all this is assuming ownership. so the conclusion must be in the usa ownership only applies to government and not the individual
Tell me about it! I went to the Housing Office to appeal mine. I told them give me 80% of what they appraised my house at and one hour to get some personal items. Then I'll hand over the keys.
It's sucks to be taxed so steep but yet most of the taxes go to help other countries and ethnic groups. We pay as much taxes as some countries that have free medical care, instead our taxes are squandered
hate to say it but u might need to participate at town meetings and demonstrate when things get out of hand or just become wealthy enough that if they jack things up it doesnt matter life is a chess game in a lot of ways..
$1,000 property tax haha, holy moly thats low. In Florida (if you move here now) figure $3,500-$10,000 and up. If you have homestead exemption, you might pay $1,000. Had a neighbor that paid $400 for over 50 years. You get a certain price when you move in then it does not go up more than 2% a year (maybe 3%). Its wrong at any rate. Its rent money for what you are supposed to own the way I see it. And spare me that the its for the roads and schools as some say.
Wow 80%...id have flipped my lid ! Taxes are WAAAY out of control in this country. Way out of control.
They asked for 80% and got 33%. So this year they doubled the property valuations. So they got it anyway.

We thought about appealing.
I’ve appealed 3 or 4 times in the past and sort of won. They lowered my appraisal and taxes every time but last year. 😩
They're going to get the money one way or another.
