Hard part is convincing kids... my young teens keep asking to move back to Town and I feel so much guilt cause I was raised in a small town but at the same time it's.different now! Kids are on their phones more than they are playing road hockey or playing at the park etc. I drive them uptown to hang with their friends and just hope they're staying out of trouble. It's always nice to to have the best of boyh worlds then "Get the Hell outta Dodge!!"

Years ago I watched one of your videos and it gave me courage when I needed it.
I live off grid, grow food, tend animals. We've been building our infrastructure ourselves just me and my husband. I recently left my corporate job that was sucking life from me. I'm excited for spring already as it will be the first time I can give my gardens my 100%
I'm expanding this fall to prepare.
    Winter prep is also underway!
Thanks so much for the inspiration
    Always a fan!

@@SugarCreekOffGrid after leaving your corporate job, did you feel less tired and anxious?
How Has the lack of income from that decision affected you?

    • @SugarCreekOffGrid
      @SugarCreekOffGrid Месяц назад +3

@bblauter hi there. Well, I didn't just quit without some planning. I got some major purchases and infrastructure out of the way first....still more to do but manageable now.....saved up a little so it wouldn't be drastic shocker. Now, I'm working on a couple of ideas to replace income from home.
Honestly, the first month, I almost killed myself with working so hard here!
I was gone ALL the time my husband to, so we were always doing minimum chores and pushing to complete projects, so NEVER a day off EVER. So even though I knew I'd be here tomorrow, the habit of pushing to get things done was so ingrained that I was working myself to the ground daily trying to catch up. Then I pulled a muscle, and I was forced to slow down. I'm starting to get a more natural rhythm going for me. Things are starting to feel better. My homestead is starting to feel loved, not abandoned!
It's not possible to build a homestead from ground up out of the forest without money so I've got to stay focused on the future but I am starting to feel more like I'm part of this place and not a visitor.
It's only been a few months, and winter is coming, so I still have a ways to go.
I think by spring, I should have a better grasp on everything.
My job consumed me and took over my life. Many mornings, I cried because I didn't want to leave my farm. MANY days at the end of an extra long shift, I sat in my car and cried because I wanted to go home but was too tired to drive the two hours to get there. I actually had to stay in the hotel a couple of times because I was just too exhausted and had to be back at work at 5 am. So, regardless of how this decision works out financially, I really had no choice for my health. I had to do this. Trying to save up a little and get things done before I left, looking back, I stayed too long. But I've made the best decisions I could all along the way.
I'm a hard worker, and I'm in God's hands now, not some corporate CEO.
sorry about the ramble. I hope I answered your questions.

You really dont have to wear the same thing every day! You can do laundry in a 5 gallon bucket,3 gallons of water to wash with soap added in,2 gallons to rinse, hang it on a clothesline. Plus you are building up your hand and arm muscles wringing out the laundry. Ask me how i know...

@@GoosePondHideoutWithRob oh,I get it man! I went to school with a girl who said she bathed twice every day, washed her hair twice a day,I'm sure she changed her clothes twice a day or more, bragged about her and her mom shopping at the mall every Saturday for clothes. Things changed for that family when grandpa died and the money train ran out.

Watse not want not, I agree with that ,however I've found that living semi off grid is best for us, and it's 1/8th of a mile to my nearest neighbor and same to my mail box. However you need a little outlet . I.E. a favorite place to go out to eat or to break up the norm. But saving and preparing for such a move, I agree with Rob on your prepping. However not all people are made for this lifestyle. So rent a small camper go set up somewhere for a couple of weeks then see how you fell about it. I've seen many cut and run after living in the country for about 6 months. But if it;s in your heart you will love it.

This sounds extremely simply but it really does take discipline.
And I would mention that I know many will say they don't want to do without or the family to....
The reason you'r doing it this way is because your BROKE ..... if you had tons of money you wouldn't be watching this video you'd just go do it. You can't afford to get so you and your family are going to have to make some sacrifices in the beginning. Do the WORK so you can build a better life. If it was easy EVERYBODY would be doing it 😵‍💫 reduce your bills increase your income save yourself.

What state did your neighbors move to,. Maine has outgrown me. I have two long hoses coiled up in the sun and an outdoor shower. In the winter the woodstove heats water and takes a spray bottle in the shower with the warm water. I seldom heat up the water heater.

      My thoughts.
Regret is a heavy burden. Living life is making choices. Choices are neither good or bad, right or wrong. They are simply choices. You need to decide what's most important for you. Maybe there is a way you can find some middle ground?

Personally I think growing up on a farm in the country is better for kids than growing up in a city with lots of peers but we have totally different opinions on this and neither of us seems willing to budge.

Hey Rob, interesting content bro, yep the country life is the one to live....the city is a rat race.....suburban environment, the bills are due and the job is demanding, but in the country, the commute is longer, and the road worse....but the rent isn't there, cause you just pay the taxes, but your big gas hog truck cost 20 bucks a day in gas....and you will make between 15 and 20 bucks an hour at a Joe job.....so you contract some, and have to get conned sometimes by millennials who will cancel that check.....and fake the pictures......🎉......so it still cost a bunch in the country... with your Hughes net satellite dish and your cell phone and your aa membership and car insurance, taxes again.....ya know it....still a rat race, but you Don see the fences as much right?🎉
