Been practicing line management for decades now. Another thing to keep in mind is making sure there is at least a little tension in the line after your lure hits the water before beginning your retrieve. You can do this by stopping anymore line from coming off the spool after your lure hits the water. You don’t want to reel in very loose line caused when your lure hits the water or from maybe a bow in the line caused by the wind.

Yeah line management starts to become second nature after awhile.

I've been fishing 40+ years with that said, I normally used Baitcasters & mono line here on the TX Coast.
I started Kayak Fishing & just got a Phflueger 30 President paired to a 6'6" ML Diawa AIRD X Rod.
My 1st cast with that set up getting a 1/4oz Buggs Gen 2 Redfish Lure with 10lb braid out there & I got me a wind knot in no wind!
I just cut the line & re-tied everything.
Great info. Even though I do exactly what your saying. I have less or no wind knots using 20lb PowerPro Braid 🤟
My 1st fish on that set up was a 29" Redfish, a tad too large but a great fight..

Thanks for the tips. I’ve just started using braided line … 10lb test … and have been having quite a problem with recoil knots, backlash tangles , or whatever you want to call them. I’ve always used mono and never had this problem before. Anyway, I came up with your site when I did a search to see if I could come up with a solution. On 10lb braid it’s just about impossible sometimes to remove those knots. Very frustrating. I think I’m going to move up to a 20 or 30 lb braid. Along with your tips, do you think that would help any?

Have you tried Power Pros 8 strand V2 braid and their Maxcuatro braid? I prefer both over regular Power Pro braid.

Don’t forget. Overfilled spools cause issues too.

If everything in the video didn't solve your problem or the line literally tangles in every 2 casts, then you have the same problem i had and lucky you i solved it and i have the solution for you, the problem is having too much line on your spool, cut down the line until you have about 2-4mm from the edge of your line to the edge of your spool, then your problems will suddenly disapear and you'll love me forever😂😂😂😂
