Shirley Temple... My mothers name was Shirley. Born 1933. She could dance a lindy hop, sing, artistic, kept a lovely home, sunday school teacher and you were an influence on her life. She became active in Mental Health and NAMI in 1980. I know she had an incident with an older brother that she tried not to let influence her decisions like that crap wants to do. I cant imagine the deep strength of character, the deep down knowing who you are and whats right and wrong but... It was the Depression! America NEEDED her character! She did a lot in her life! Service to others was instilled in this generation and they made it look easy! Selfless .. grace personified. If she has kids checking comments sometimes, i want to say Thank You for her! Betty White as well. Something about the upbringing, the times, their personality... My favorite Aunt too. Knit, sew, cook, clean, decorate for holidays! I found the time to do maybe half of what they did .. no. Less than half. What they could do in four hours took me six and i didnt look as put together as these women did. Roslyn Carter. Nancy Reagan. She kept Ronnie on track and because of her, he was able to keep his dignity and appear more competent than he was. She had the schedual, the back room discussions, the laws, the staff... All in her head as shhe subtly held his mind and goals tight with her help. These are women that carried the country and its peoples, whether anyone believes it doesnt matter. Ladies, we all know a few classy mothers or grammas and aunts that were everything a husband, family, society and the times demanded of them. They volunteered to help communities! They even made time for their lives... Wish i had more of the genesequa they had.
I met her a few times when she would come to our store looking for treasures for her grandchildren. Fabulous lady! There will Never be another one like her!
It was the early seventies. The three networks in tv would play old 1930s (apparently?) Reels on those early Sunday mornings. Spanky and our gang; Blondie; Shirley temple! We would pretend to tap dance in our pretty frilly church outfits and Patton leather shoes; now , I feel as old fashioned as we kids thought those film shows were!
Simply phenomenal! As close as we get to a true American princess indeed! A wonderful tribute to such a precious gemstone of America at it's very finest! I got chills when the Air force band and Honors appeared! I loved this entire celebration of this exaordinary women who was apart of so many of our childhood memories. A life well lived a true inspiration to humanity! Thank you for sharing this wonderful video.
Ahh the memories of coming home from church Sunday afternoons and Watching Shirley Temple Theater with my sister. A time so special to us that we bought each other the DVD Box Set one Christmas! Now as grown ups we have passed our love for Shirley Temple to the next generation in our family. An American treasure that should never be forgotten.
Congratulations to the team who sat in a meeting and said, let s salute her for her duty to their country with the military and let s end it off with celebrating her childhood and what she did to keep the child inside all of us. The kids were so amazing on stage . A full celebration, well done.
I'm so proud as a parent that as a child star she was able to overcome what ruined many child stars and simply just couldn't believe that the day came when she would leave this Earth ❤
Wonderful tribute. Even if i never saw Shirley's movies as a kid, most of them i saw during my senior year of high school and summer before college. They provided young at heart joy in a time when i needed it the most. My favorites are The Little Princess, Heidi, Curly Top, The Little Colonial, Captain January, Little Miss Broadway and Just Around the Corner. We can all use someone like Shirley in this difficult time right now!
I started watching her movies in the 90s as a child, and I still love them to this day. My comfort sometimes. This was the most amazing tribute, and she was so adorable still, even as an older woman! Long live Shirley!
I said it before like I did in another post of this moment for Shirley Temple Black & that is young girls should look up to her as a role model & not what is out there today like the Kardashians, & the other entertainment women out there. She truly was a icon & a trail blazer. Look how she handled herself & conducted her self. Total class act with grace & humbleness. I have never heard anyone speak a bad word about her.
What a finale to a iconic child star & the celebrities who came out to honor her. Who doesn't like balloons? It brought out the kid in everyone. I'm so glad she was honored. I had never seen her in her older years. She was beautiful. Great video 😊
Wow! I didn't know what had happened to her after she grew up. What a life. I used to watch her movies as a kid when they were still showing black & white movies. Im.so glad she had such a fulfilling life. What a beautiful person.❤️ Rest in Love Dear One, you earned it.
But i got tour point she probably do something like open a bussines, etc she is very well apreciate still today and forever, thats for sure, she was a marvelous woman ,with integrity, even was in the sargent papper album by the Beatles, thats great
The fact that none of the children were alive during her reighyas that princess of Hollywood says it all she is was and always will be timeless and we love her
Shirley Temple Black was born April 23, born a Taurus (representing traits of stability in our Solar System)... and as a Child she already became the solid Rock that never rolled down. ( this meaning is in the Stairway To Heaven lyrics towards the end: We will be as a 'Rock that never Rolls' ( meaning to step further up the Stairway To Heaven: She is and was a huge stabilizing force to the World , by not allowing humanity to roll downward in that great time of World Need) As a child performer, she won the Hearts of All. Uniquely skilled, filled with the vigor and vitality of a Child of God..she served like a Princess as well as the Colonel. She was Real, I'd say 'A Child of the Universe'....and Real she was as the Ambassador to the efforts of World Peace. I cried as the children representing the world, sang "Let there be Peace on Earth". I see her face in this tribute as a great Human Being smiling graciously, humbly, in receiving this Kennedy Center Award. I get goosebumps in recognizing she is an Angel Ambassador to Earth, now. I can see this in her Eyes. Earth life was like College. She earned Degrees in Heaven ahead of us who are attempting staying on the Stairway To Heaven in this world of crisis we now live in. As she passed away in the Solar Sign of Aquarius, what better management could we have gifting to us for those, too, who desire to also be a Rock that never Rolls. We have the option to choose our Way of Travel. Thank U Shirley Temple Black for helping our world to grow in Love and Good Will to All. That's the kind of spit fire spark and of wholehearted virtue Shirley ignited to the World. How fortunate for your children and husband to have grown with the most humane morals in this life you served. Aloha~Shirley Temple Black, Ambassador to Heaven ❤
The best thing about all this is? Shirley temple grew old gracefully No unnecessary nip tucking and “trying to stay relevant” etc - just enjoy what you had , and let it all slide away
People didn't tune into this to watch what was on stage with barely a look at Shirley enjoying it. It would have been a much better tribute to actually show her during the event much more than it did.

We made her a legend, but she insisted on being herself. What a compliment!!!
I'm glad Shirley Temple received a Kennedy Center Honor. She was one of a kind.
I used to say the same thing about Dakotta Fanning

Какая дикция и речь в таком маленьком тельце изумительно.
Yes! You see that little girl in her make a reappearance when all those children came on stage.

Thank goodness for film...so we and those in the future are graced with her talent and her loving aura.
Not only was she a singularly gifted young actress, but she was also a diplomat to Ghana in her later years. What a woman!
Well It's sad she left Hollywood but I'm glad she lived a happy adult life
She. was as diplomat in Czechoslovakia too - shortly after wwII.

Always loved Shirley Temple. But Shirley, whatever you do, don't accept a drink(even if it's a shirley temple) from that guy sitting to your left.
15 cents! That is what my Dad paidfor a movie in the theater when he was a little boy in the late 30's. His older sister went with him .
Fabulous ❣️

Wonder if the world could ever be so innocent again? Just wondering.
We can if we stop sinning and ignoring God #with God all things are possible
DEAR GOD!!! Hollywood royalty!! Sadly, never again....
The best thing about all this is? Shirley temple grew old gracefully
No unnecessary nip tucking and “trying to stay relevant” etc - just enjoy what you had , and let it all slide away
Shirley Temple and Ellen Burstyn were certainly lost sisters
One of the best/R.I.P. Ms. Shirley.

God bless Shirley Temple in Jesus name
❤
She was one of a kind but is that Bill Cosby next to her?????
Yes. He was also honored that night, but since his conviction the Kennedy Center rescinded his honor.
