The thing is, I feel and felt exactly the same as Dave, although obviously from my point of view as a listener. I couldnt listen to nirvana after Kurt died. I would immediately turn it off if it came on the radio. It was too painful to live those memories. And as years went by I slowly managed to listen to a little bit, and a little bit more, and I am still not entirely past the mourning process, but I can at least look those memories in the face now. Nirvana meant a lot to us, to me.

Alway feel nervous for Dave Krist and Pat when they have to answer nirvana questions. Kurt Cobain still to this day smells like teen spirit ❤️❤️
I wonder if Dave ever sits and meditates on the fact of just how many people he’s inspired over the years. Not only musically, but also just as a person who has overcome so much and is just as positive and motivated today as he was on day one. Many, many musicians and celebrities in general tend to settle and become stagnant once they’ve made their millions, but Dave and the other guys in FF are touring more these days than they did in the beginning. He and Krist both are perfect representatives for the sort of “tornado of creative chaos” that was Nirvana and they certainly deserve every good thing that comes their way.
Love ya Dave. I’ve been with you and FF since the first album came out with that whacky Martian gun on the cover. Had the tee shirt to prove it. When I was looking to fill a musical void. From when you were my favorite drummer. Foo Fighters filled that void. It was like I could move on musically when you did and I’m so glad you did so. Thank you Dave Grohl for being the drummer of Nirvana; and thank you Dave for not remaining just the drummer for Nirvana. Thank you for putting yourself out there and writing your own style of music to the joy of many including me. I was a teenager when you were my favorite drummer and Kurt died and I absolutely loved Foo Fighters the moment it came out. The music was strangely healing and became more and more healing-more optimistic-with each album. Just what I needed at the time. I learned your guitar licks and was inspired by you and your music. Kurt was the first hero I had who left so suddenly and so finally. Foo Fighters was just a kernel of something hopeful at the time. I wore my FF shirt around middle school with pride and knew a lot of people who refused to listen to FF because of the Nirvana connection. I felt sorry for them. They were stuck. Dave, you moved on musically and that helped me move on. You’ve given us a totally unique and deep musical style of your own, which is energetic and optimistic. You are Foo Fighters: one of the best bands ever and a band that has taught me how to continue living without heroes and, to have new heroes like you. To move on. To adapt, to make the most of a situation. You gave us some of the greatest music ever in the process. You also happened to have been the drummer for one of the other best bands ever. We are so incredibly lucky because you didn’t stay stuck…you moved on, your music through FF was your song, your “message.” The truth is, you were NEVER just “the drummer for Nirvana” and you gave us your heart and soul in your music TWICE. The world lost an incredible gift with Kurt, but fate had planned for us to get through that by giving us more of you and your music. Thank you for being brave, Dave!
Both Krist and Dave have referred, publicly, to Kurt’s death as a suicide. Krist in particular has been very adamant in dismissing the conspiracy theories surrounding Kurt’s death, and has said multiple times that he blames Kurt’s suicide on his heroin abuse. It is very telling, to me, that in the 27 years since Kurt’s death, the only people who have ever expressed disbelief in the fact that Kurt Cobain killed himself either never met the guy in their entire lives, or had little to no contact with him after he became a junkie and a rock star. To their credit, both Krist and Dave have chosen to remain respectful of Kurt’s memory and have refrained from gossiping and trash talking him now that he is no longer here to defend himself, despite constantly being asked by journalists and bloggers about Kurt, his death, and everything surrounding that situation. I think they’ve done that not only out of respect for Kurt himself, but out of respect for his daughter and family, as well as Nirvana’s fans. Krist and Dave have had more than ample opportunity to call for an investigation into their former friend’s death, if that’s what they actually thought or felt should happen. It’s very ironic that you, who only know of Kurt what you’ve read on the fucking internet, think that you know something they don’t know, and that they owe something to Kurt, when everything they’ve said and done since Kurt’s death is so obviously gracious, considerate, and deferential to the person who they actually knew. They’ve said what they’ve wanted and needed to say, for many years now. Too bad so sad that it doesn’t agree with the narratives expressed on Tom Grant’s website, or with the imaginations of people such as yourselves.

New bands have been formed. New parties have clustered. New relationships form all the time. But people when they break the law don’t want to do time in jail???? Well then don’t break the law. Like if you speed on the highway and an officer gives you a citation. Are you going to go to court over $150.00? Most likely not.
Yes. Cobain and Novoselic wrote and recorded like 50 songs before Dave joined. They played with 4 other drummers before him. But they only had like 3 years of popularity/touring.
Kurt was out of control at the end. His last meeting with Chris he fought with him and they were arguing. He didn’t get the help he needed. So the outcome was bad.
@@The_Crow78. Its not bullcrap Chris said he fought with him and their last meeting was an argument. And if he was murdered, they got away with it. It’s been 25 years and no one is being investigated for murder. So forget about that nonsense.
All of them including Courtney have been very good about keeping Kurt’s image relatively true to the person he was deep inside before the drugs. Because I’ve heard some stories that he was moody as hell and very difficult to deal with. That’s not an insult, it’s just the way he was. Doesn’t change that he was also a sweet, sensitive overall good person.
He is afraid of naming Courtney Love as the one who orchestrated Kurt's "suicide". He knows the truth just like Krist (who was in Seattle when Kurt was found) and his silence about refusing to speak out whether afraid or not speaks volumes... Its wrong that DeWitt, love, Carlson etc are walking free and those who know the truth refuse to speak up whatever the cost... Grohl clearly has had a huge weight on his shoulders for the past 27 years and it's eating away at him, especially since that almost everyday since the FBI files on Kurt were released back in April there is an article or video etc about Grohl talking about still being visited by Kurt's spirit and dreaming about him and guilt he feels and how he didn't like the in utero album.
Stfu with that nonsense! You people speak like you know best, but the truh is that you don't know shit. Just because you watched some fictional documentary you think that you know KC. This is not those conspiracy channels that say that they know the truth, while milking KC/Nirvana story and making profit with their name.
He says that in the chapter about Kurt, he decided to write about grief and loss and the process of healing. He doesn't dare to talk about the way Kurt died in his book and in this interview and in all of his interviews. Since day one, Dave has remained silent on Kurt's death. And this has nothing to do with grief because it's been over 20 years now. There is more to Kurt's death than the suicide conspiracy that has been misleading people. Dave's silence on the matter says a lot.
Oh for fucks sake. Get out of your moms basement, take off the tinfoil hat and stay off reddit for a while. Kurt killed himself. He was a tortured addict. End of story.
just think about what you said, what reason would he have to talk about his death? He died, it happened, no reason to bring up the way he died because hes gone
He only knew him for 4 years dave grew up in virginia not seattle. Im his same age. I grew up in DC. Use to see him at bad brains and minor threat shows. Im sure it wasn't easy to have a bandmate kill himself but they werent childhood friends who really knew one another. And for those saying hes not trying to exploit it why even talk about it? Why now? Novoselic never talks about it and he knew Cobain way longer
@@punpunpunyama9271 4 years? They didn't grow up together. He was like the 5th nirvana drummer. They weren't really friends. Why ask? Because pop culture is cancer thats why
Ok so what I get from Dave is that they were nothing more than band mates. It is true. I think he is tired of talking about Kurt. And Nirvana. However, it is still relevant to me because I still listen to Nirvana. I don’t think Dave is a bad guy. He did come across as sincere at the 1994 MTV video music awards. You can’t fake that. The only problem I had with Dave was the way in which he talked about Kurt Cobain and especially at the rock and roll hall of fame induction in 2014 of April he did not mention the name @ Kurt Cobain “ Kurt’s mom came out on stage crying. She knows she is much older and she probably is wondering will I see my son in heaven? Like the song by Eric Clapton after having lost his son wrote a song “ tears in heaven “ When you lose a son or daughter………… It sucks the life…………. Out of you forever. My mom told me when I was a teenager “ if you killed your self I will cry……. Every day…… For the rest … if my life. The problem I have with a lot of people is: You have to put everything in writing. For law suit purposes. And even then they still fight and fight and don’t believe you:(
He was his roommate and friend. When Kurt was into drugs, they did thwart own things when not in the studio or touring but he adored him! Reading his book you can tell how he felt
how do you know? did you know him personally? its a book written by someone who actually knew Kurt, not another dope on the internet pretending to be a Nirvana expert.
He was asked a question, Kurt was his friend outside of the music, and doesn’t like to talk about him much for obvious reasons. Not to mention every time he does mention Kurt, Courtney revamps the beef between her and Dave in some way. Research and look into what you’re talking about first.
@@joeenke6440 same I just came to all this a few months back. It was a little journey in itself. Dave grohl was narcissistic all along it seems like. And I kind of find his post-Cobain death life kind of disturbing. Now he’s this entirely new figure
Kurt would disown own you dsve. You have become what he hated most about the music industry. You are a chrony for the man now pushing agendas and supporting politicians. You are anti rock n roll now that's just what happens naturally when you make it all the way to the top, but you don't get there without doing what you're told and following orders.
Here’s a fact……if the wonderful Mr Grohl never joined Nirvana would he ever be as successful or revered as he is today? I really wish he’d so riding on Kurts coat tails…….I mean look at Kris?
🤨 What does that even mean? Dave’s career didn’t _start_ with Nirvana, why would it end there? He would’ve kept making music, even if he never met Kurt. He _did_ meet Kurt, and became part of something magical. That was a long time ago. How would you like it if I kept showing up at _your_ job to say “you would be *nothing* if your friend hadn’t taken his own life 27 years ago”? Dave Grohl only has a career because he believes in the power of *MUSIC,* _including_ Kurt’s.
All I’m hearing is ‘how can I make more money from kurts death’... just let the dude Rest In Peace man- Dave had been pretty good throughout the foo fighters career (before they turned into a stupid arena karaoke group) but lately all these nirvana related things like sound city etc need to stop
Nirvana and Kurt were and remain a huge part of Dave's life, they are an integral part of his biography. So when making a documentary about his own life or about his band, it's OK to mention Nirvana. Why can't Dave talk about it if these things are important to him?
Your the only one hearing that. People ask him about Nirvana & he answers. WTF is he suppose to do just say no comment ????? Then at least you would be happy right ? And the book is about Dave's life. I guess he should just ignore the biggest 4 years so you don't think he's trying to use his friends name to sell the book.
C'mon man don't be an ass. To this day people ask the Zeppelin guys about John Bonham, same with Metallica and Cliff Burton. Kurt was a bigger star than both of those guys, interviewers are always going to bring him up when talking to Dave and Krist.
Dave wouldnt be where he is today without Kurt and Nirvana, so it's just common sense now to bring it on and perhaps explain how he process thoses feelings of lost and memories, its almost 30 years, no milking here IMHO.

Well then don’t break the law.
Like if you speed on the highway and an officer gives you a citation.
Are you going to go to court over $150.00?
Most likely not.
Only 4 years? Damn they did a lot in those years.
Yes. Cobain and Novoselic wrote and recorded like 50 songs before Dave joined. They played with 4 other drummers before him. But they only had like 3 years of popularity/touring.
Cobain and Novoselic were already Nirvana for 3 years before Grohl joined
the way he says Kurt KO BANE
Kurt was out of control at the end. His last meeting with Chris he fought with him and they were arguing. He didn’t get the help he needed. So the outcome was bad.
Don't blame, Kurt.
That's a bull crap story promoted to make his suicide be more convincing.
Kurt was murdered.
@@The_Crow78. Its not bullcrap Chris said he fought with him and their last meeting was an argument.
And if he was murdered, they got away with it. It’s been 25 years and no one is being investigated for murder. So forget about that nonsense.
@@dynjarren8355 It is no wonder that people get away with murder.
I was the #1000 like
Dave Grohl Says "Kurt Cobain"
Nerrrrrrrrrd
Courtney has that effect on people
?
Did he write about how Kurt Cobain died? And whether he believed that Kurt was murdered?
or does he keep his silence for the sake of money?
And you, does that stupidity just come at night or its all day long?
well if kurt hated himself enuf to kill himself you'd sorta think his bandmates woulda hated him too
All of them including Courtney have been very good about keeping Kurt’s image relatively true to the person he was deep inside before the drugs. Because I’ve heard some stories that he was moody as hell and very difficult to deal with. That’s not an insult, it’s just the way he was. Doesn’t change that he was also a sweet, sensitive overall good person.
most stories about him are fake, we can't be sure at 100% his entourage are great source
The Washington Compost
Bezos Circus! 🤮
Courtney killed Kurt. Pass it on....
Yessss
yes
I find it hilarious how every dumbass believes Courtney was some evil mastermind with anime level manipulation lol
someone should ask him the interaction with courtney and their child.
There u go, making a complete IDIOT of yourself
Lol you have a point crow7788. These commenters are ignorant
Dave Grohl is a coward.
Hahahahhaha fire truck go wee woo wee woo wee woo
Kurdt would never have charged Foo Fighters prices for shows...
Grohl would be nothing without Cobain.
Exactly, he’s been riding off Kurt’s coattails ever since
@@tigermotive2378 not really I would argue that Dave is a better musician
@@bubba6675 I doubt that very much
He only knew him for 4 years dave grew up in virginia not seattle. Im his same age. I grew up in DC. Use to see him at bad brains and minor threat shows. Im sure it wasn't easy to have a bandmate kill himself but they werent childhood friends who really knew one another. And for those saying hes not trying to exploit it why even talk about it? Why now? Novoselic never talks about it and he knew Cobain way longer
he was asked to talk about it? it's an autobiography, how could he not mention it in the book?
@@punpunpunyama9271 the book isn't about nirvana
@@kckillakrack9714 it's about dave's life, which means it's also about the people in his life, aka. Kurt
@@punpunpunyama9271 4 years? They didn't grow up together. He was like the 5th nirvana drummer. They weren't really friends. Why ask? Because pop culture is cancer thats why
Thats bc he killed him
shut up
When will he acknowledged all the evidence that kurt did not kill himself???
He won’t because he’s compromised
At some point, Dave Grohl was co-opted by the CIA.
Probably so
Kurt has been dead for a little over 27 years!!!!!
Sure he was... that's why he's doing dozens of interviews right now talking about Nirvana etc.
yes because the title for the interview he accepts specially states "nirvana interview, we will ask you questions about nirvana" (sarcasm)
Kurt was way more talented than grohl, and nirvana shits all over the foo fighters
Do you you feel more validated as a fan by putting down the people that Kurt loved and respected?
@@catsthatsmokemeth whatever dude
Ok so what I get from Dave is that they were nothing more than band mates.
It is true.
I think he is tired of talking about Kurt.
And Nirvana.
However, it is still relevant to me because I still listen to Nirvana.
I don’t think Dave is a bad guy.
He did come across as sincere at the 1994 MTV video music awards.
You can’t fake that.
The only problem I had with Dave was the way in which he talked about Kurt Cobain and especially at the rock and roll hall of fame induction in 2014 of April he did not mention the name @ Kurt Cobain “
Kurt’s mom came out on stage crying.
She knows she is much older and she probably is wondering will I see my son in heaven?
Like the song by Eric Clapton after having lost his son wrote a song “ tears in heaven “
When you lose a son or daughter…………
It sucks the life…………. Out of you forever.
My mom told me when I was a teenager “ if you killed your self I will cry……. Every day……
For the rest … if my life.
The problem I have with a lot of people is:
You have to put everything in writing.
For law suit purposes.
And even then they still fight and fight and don’t believe you:(
I never felt like he actually cared about Kurt Cobain
He was his roommate and friend. When Kurt was into drugs, they did thwart own things when not in the studio or touring but he adored him! Reading his book you can tell how he felt
@@cn1976 meh . It’s just a book. And they only knew each other roughly 3 years. I doubt if they were real friends. It’s all a facade with Dave
how do you know? did you know him personally? its a book written by someone who actually knew Kurt, not another dope on the internet pretending to be a Nirvana expert.
“Write a Kurt Cobain book” Did anyone really ask him that?
I'd say almost certainly.
im sick of seeing this bloke everywhere used to love Foos and Nirvana but Dave getting a bit narcissistic now
He was asked a question, Kurt was his friend outside of the music, and doesn’t like to talk about him much for obvious reasons. Not to mention every time he does mention Kurt, Courtney revamps the beef between her and Dave in some way. Research and look into what you’re talking about first.
@@jacobbunea3131 I don't think Kurt and Dave were friends at all.
@@jacobbunea3131 Listen im saying in general he is all over the tv constantly telling stories from the 90's.
I agree
@@joeenke6440 same I just came to all this a few months back. It was a little journey in itself. Dave grohl was narcissistic all along it seems like. And I kind of find his post-Cobain death life kind of disturbing. Now he’s this entirely new figure
Coomoo cuando no sabes hacer ni mierda y sacas la vieja confiable: "escribir sobre kurt"
Anyone else annoyed as fuck how the interviewer pronounced Kurt Cobain.....
Just u buddy
Kurt would disown own you dsve. You have become what he hated most about the music industry. You are a chrony for the man now pushing agendas and supporting politicians. You are anti rock n roll now that's just what happens naturally when you make it all the way to the top, but you don't get there without doing what you're told and following orders.
I’m not impressed 28 years later.
Here’s a fact……if the wonderful Mr Grohl never joined Nirvana would he ever be as successful or revered as he is today? I really wish he’d so riding on Kurts coat tails…….I mean look at Kris?
Grohl wouldn’t have a career w/o his Nirvana gig. I
🤨 What does that even mean?
He was literally the drummer of the band
Hawkin's 'sudden' death at 50. Buyer's remorse, Dave?
