- How's it going, Guys?
Today is a pretty special day because I finally get to work on my personal Audi s5!
I decided I want to go with the black on black look for this car, so I started with the front grill. Unfortunately, I won't be linking the company I purchased this grill from, because I am extremely disappointed in the quality of it.
However, this is still a great tutorial to use when you do purchase a quality grill, so please enjoy my pain LOL.

Every time I watch a Honeycomb grill install, my chrome grill starts to look better and better to me. I respect anyone who can get this done gracefully. It’s doesn’t look easy or fun.
Lol, after doing it 4/5 times... I think I should of just bought an RS5 and saved myself headaches🤣
I was thinking the same thing. Every honey grille replacement I’ve seen looks very difficult and time consuming. I wonder how much I would get charged for a professional to do it? Lord!!

I was looking for a video to show me how to remove the grill on my a4 to switch out to an aftermarket grill, and after watching this video I have now decided to learn how to do vinyl wrapping instead of replacing the grill. Thank you.
I literally have a grille and lip right now waiting for me to install them. After watching your video I am scared shitless, as I do not have your expertise, tools, equipment, or nice looking assistant. It was nice to see a real video of things going wrong.

You did a great job on the install...I would have been swearing and cussing out the manufacturer for a crappy grill that didn't fit perfectly.

Awesome video man. Now that you know which grills to avoid, do you have any recommendations on which grill would probably be a better fit for the camera/sensors?
Testing my third grill here shortly. Currently no one has figured this camera mount stuff out yet. Crossing my fingers that this next grill works.

On a better grille from a better manufacturer would the camera fit properly? Have heard prestige models the overhead comers angle is off with the grille swap. Is the hot glue holding up?

This video was so helpful. I changed my grill too. but as you expect I have the same problem with parking sensor. the spot doesn't fit perfectly. so the sensor is lil bit tilted and it is easily warning even tho there is nothing at the front. how did you solve this problem? I found someone made a hold right back of the sensor, but I don't wanna do that. please share how did you fix it.
Just saw this, I personally wonder if the orientation is off? Meaning flip it 180 degrees and test again.

Hi! Great job! I’m getting stressed from watching this being done over 4 videos already. My concern is
1. The camera? What’s the alternative?
2. In one video, the guy said he had to flip the parking sensors 180 degrees, will that trigger an error, because Audi is very costly to recalibrate.
3. Did you paint the original black? Because it looked pretty good. I might just do that if it’s easy enough? If you did paint it, did you put something behind it before painting or you took bumper off?
Man I’m really nervous, lmao! I know a shop will charge a lot and who knows if they will even do everything correctly considering you have to custom fit things.
Best part is, some people say don’t buy the eBay ones, but the ones they buy are literally the same bevause you still have to custom fit/cut/glue etc. So I think they are all the same. Plus you gotta paint the crash bar. Ok I’m going to

Silver reflects heat. What is the point of an intercooler that attracted heat? Black looks cool, but I don't care about looks, I care about function.
do you have the part number for the bottom section at 8:05 ? mine is broken and I want to replace it when I get the grill :(
I don't sadly, but I might be taking off the grill, and if I do, I'll grab the part number.

I just bought mine yesterday and im waiting for it to come in, did you have to cut out the crash bar for the sensors to fit?

I heard some people had problems with the sensors and needing them recalibrated by the dealer for around 700. I was wondering if you had the same issue?
I have not, I've installed 4 different grills and all didn't need recalibration. It might need calibration if you turned the car on with the sensors disconnected. Setting a hard fault maybe.
Would you recommend this grill?
Also have you upgraded rotors, brake pads, and calipers?
As for looks I love it, functioninality is a 6-7 out of 10. My camera isn't perfect and that drives me crazy.
I have 6 piston brakes, this is enough for anything you'll be doing on the street.
@@boostdynamictuning I got the same grille and just installed it yesterday. Does your camera point upwards? I'm gonna have to figure out how to get it right because it's going to drive me crazy as well. The camera mount setup built into this grille is clearly designed wrong as the stock camera mount points at a downward angle. No idea why they thought pointing the camera straight ahead would work...
Also, the way the plastic parking sensor mounts were plastic-welded to the grille was so shitty, one of them snapped off when adjusting the fit of the sensor. You could see where the mount didn't fully weld to the plastic, causing it to be really fragile. I ended up having to clean it up and then epoxy it in.
I should mention the grille caused my parking sensors to be out of alignment so my cruise control/lane assist isn't working, but I think I can adjust those via OBD11/long coding... hopefully!
edit: I have to redact some of what I said above. after taking off the bumper to inspect, I had forgotten to plug in one of the radars. oops! so no marks against it for ACC issues--they aren't even related. But, in the process, the SECOND parking sensor bracket broke off which I again had to epoxy. Honestly though, cleaning ujp the extra plastic and remounting them makes them fit way better anyway. This time I also decided to notch out the crash bar because the parking sensors were rubbing against it.
My rating is 10/10 looks, 4/10 quality, 6/10 functionality (camera mount completely wrong), 6/10 fitment (mostly fits good the parking sensors and camera may hit your crash bar)
do you know how to remove the side airintake grilles? without removing the whole bumper? is it just a clip?
Yes, just a hard yank at the right angle if I recall correctly.

Did you unplug the battery for this install ? and have you had any issues with ACC or lane assist after it ? i've heard people having issues with this after a grille swap. with and without the battery being disconnected.
I didn't disconnect the battery; also, if they have those issues, it's not from a grill.
The ACC goes through the window camera, and so does lain assist. The window camera also reads the road signs for speed limit adjustment.
@@boostdynamictuning its not from the grill swap, but from unplugging the aac radar sensors mounted where the fog lights typically sit when detatching the front bumper. Some people seem to be lucky with realignment and others not so much. Regardless thanks for the quick reply. Now i know that you didn't unplug it atleast.
@ijin no problem, good point. I will say that aligning the cameras are a pain!
Does it void the warranty when changing the grill to an aftermarket part like you did here? I would love to change my grill on the S5 but just worried about warranty issues down the road.

How long did this take you in total? What finish paint did you go with on the crash bar? Looks great!
I would say 2/3 hours if you're just messing around. I'll be posting an updated video of a faster solution shortly. I'll be testing the rs5 plastic crash bar shield instead of painting the crash bar. The paint has started chipping 😞 so I'm looking for other solutions.

Has anybody ever had a parking sensor fault after replacing the grill? Replaced mine today but getting a front parking sensor fault on dash after fitting.
Make sure the clip is plugged in all the way. I did an install last week, no faults. You'll only get a fault if it's pointing straight at the ground or unplugged.
I lost the T30 bolt from fender to bumper! Do you have the spec or part number for that one?
Take off one of the other ones and go to Napa auto and they will match it up for you bro n

Black attracts heat. For documentation purposes I had to go silver:(. Trust me I wanted black
@@boostdynamictuning Wagner makes in black. In my opinion in this situation benefits of visual aspect are bigger then in performance ( silver over black intercooler). But it just my opinion😉

Not gonna lie, this job literally looks like the biggest faff in the world. To think it's actually easier to do all the fluid changes, changing brake rotors/pads, and suspension dampers is all far easier than it is to do this, replace a bit of damn plastic is pure insanity!

POS after market grill tbh, please post so we don’t buy, and that way we can put that company on blast. Don’t make aftermarket parts if they don’t fit like OEM, as simple as that.

Politely stating this... I showed how I hot glued the camera. I actually have the proper fix video coming here shortly.
Sorry. I assumed you just ended up cutting the metal bumper so the sensors would clear. That's what I ended up doing anyway.
