Installing an RS Grille on my B9 Audi S4! *STUNNING*

- Hey everyone, welcome back to Daily Downshift! We are finally getting around to modifying the B9 Audi S4. This first install involves removing the stock chrome grille and replacing it with the black RS (RS4/RS5) style grille. This mod is usually very straight forward but due to all the Audi assistance sensors and camera it took us much longer. Not to mention we decided to wrap the side chrome pieces and the crash bar. Either way, the look of the car has been entirely transformed and we highly recommend this for your B9 Audi A4, A5, S4 or S5. We truly can't imagine going back to the stock look. We hope you enjoy!

What do you think of the upgraded RS grille?
before you install these grilles, spray it with a can of clear coat...maybe two coats. the factory coating won't last more than a year before it starts to fade. thank me later.

Have this issue now, also sensors keep falling out so I’m putting the stock back for now, wondering if I can scuff the rs one and respray it

Have you experienced any issues with the grille parking sensors detecting random objects and beeping constantly? The sensors position on the new grille are at the bottom instead of the middle.
I was wondering the same question. Just bought a grille and I can see the sensors dont line up to the stock grille...Anyone have any advice?

Very nice. Looking to do the same to my A4. Looks like such a complicated job though!
It's definitely worth it once you see it. The biggest issue for us was all the tech - the advanced driver assist sensors were difficult to unplug and the we removed and wrapped side grilles. Plus I'm just very impatient with clips. So if you're not doing that it'll save time.
You didn't show the 2 biggest problems that most people have installing this grill, the camera mounting, and parking sensors. I have all kinds of electronic gadgets not working now.

I was going to say same thing 14hrs ffs it took me 3 on my own.
vinyl wrap slowed them way down. Trust me, spray paint the crash bar with matt or gloss black and same affect. RS grille looks so much better and when you install larger intercooler the RS grill will flow more air to intercooler surface too. The factory grill is crazy restricted when tuning these engines.
Good stuff boys. I just got an apr intercooler for my S4 as I have heard it helps so much, especially since I got an apr stage 1 tune.
Intercooler is definitely on our list. Do you have any other mods?
@@DailyDownshift yea not too much I have the apr stage 1 tune, awe track exhaust, and an ecs diffuser which is really clean

Do you have to calibrate camera?

How did you guys go about getting the driver assist sensors off to disconnect for front bumper? I’m having some trouble with them
Hi i noticed the parking sensors are grey to match the original grill. can you just paint over these or not?

@@DailyDownshift yeah I'll have to see them in person once I get the grill and install it, they probably won't but me as much either.
supposedly "nail polish" remover takes the grey paint off the sensor and will leave it black. Did you end up painting your sensors? I may try the nail polish to see if there is black paint underneath.@@Jokero_YT
you had to file down the camera?
You should have changed the bottom grills to. The main grill is gloss black dosent match the side ones. dosent look right
Did you have any problems with front camera angle ? Or had to trim the crash bar??
The RS grilles looks awesome Are you having trouble with the cameras or sensors now that It is installed?

@@mdc160 The housing for the camera had to be filed down. However if you don't have one then no issue!
Can you try moving the camera faster, I like watching videos at the speed of light so I can't learn to do it myself.
This isn't a "how to" or detailed guide, plenty of boring youtube channels out there you can watch for that.

Did the parking sensors on the grill portion cause any issues with the crash bar? I saw a video where they actually had to cut up some of the crash bar because the sensors were mounted in a different spot from the old grill.
They are now right up against the crash bar but I didn't do any cutting and I have had no issues

How did u guys make the camera fit the brackets are different I couldn’t screw the camera back in place since the bracket is different
You have to use the original camera backing. DM us on insta
@@DailyDownshift Great video! followed it step by step and it made all the diff. The camera mount has me frustrated. Your reply states you used the OEM camera backing. Did you have to modify the screw holes to fit the new grill housing or did you use the OEM housing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@@bnishig4580 You have to flip the oem backing upside down and use it with the new camera front. You also have to file down the plastic to make it fit
I needed to know about this because I have the same grille and had to flip the camera upside down to fit with the bracket that came with it.
This source is 1/3 price of Audi OEM grill and I assume made in China. How was/is fit and finish?
I think they're all very similar. It fits alright but you have to modify the camera housing

How did you put the camera back in? Is there something I need to buy extra? Also the sensors, someone said they have to be flipped 180 degrees or there’s some sort of flat sensor plug you can buy? Idk. This is making me not want to buy the grill lol!

just got mine done yesterday ended up taking both front wheels off and now finding out i didn't have too such a clean part too add tho.
