I feel sorry for Charlie to be honest. Having a daughter who tells you nothing about her life, where she's going or what she's doing, he tries to protect her from a creepy stalker but is treated as overprotective and standing in the way of supposed "true love." Also remember that earlier in the movie he already forced a kiss on her and she hit him, but that didn’t harm him and it shattered her own hand. Kissing someone without their consent is sexual assault, Edward may be a creepy stalker, but he never sexually assaulted Bella which to me makes Jacob end up as the worse choice and neither choice is all that great. Also he admitted in the books that he was lying out of his ass about letting himself get killed just so he could get Bella to kiss him since he said that he would get Bella to want to kiss her, what he did was a major dick move.

Sexual assault that "is okay" because the girl then realizes she loves the guy (mind you, in the books Bella verbalises this in her mind, I'm pretty sure) is very common, and so are all the other emotional manipulations he does. Edward is a creepy stalker but he's "boring" for this type of story, because despite everything, he doesn't really cross limits, and most of their troubles have to be somewhat Bella's or a third party's fault if he keeps on his lane (he doesn't, and he's very jealous, but like, for the standards of a romance novel he's pretty okay). If you check how fanfics are doing today, Jacob types are very much more popular. He lashes out. He sexually assaults her. He spells out what she should feel for him and try to convince her. He pursues her even though she doesn't seem to want it at all. And sure, she's kinda "sending signals", but in a way most teenage girls do when they have a dear friend who likes her: she accepts his behaviour to keep him around. Jacob comes across as "genuine" in his pursuit while Edward comes across as someone who's trying to restrain himself, which is why a lot of people prefer Jacob. But this was in no way a new thing when Twilight came out, and it definitely got worse afterwards. (I.e. compare this two morons with every guy on 50 Shades, or look up fanfic reads. This is tame in comparison. And I think the author had a bit more of knowledge that these things are bad, even if she didn't know to what extent, because Jacob doesn't actually get the girl, and Bella does seem to internally hate this behaviour.) Oh boi, did I go into a rant here lmao

Okay, how weird is it that the description of how Bella acts around Jacob, is LITERALLY my psychotic nemesis with her ex who is my guy best friend from high school? She's like the psychotic version of Bella. She has a boyfriend who she claims to deeply love, but yet likes to claim to my best friend that she worries and cares about him; but when she gets his mental state messed up and in false hope that they'll get back together, she'll disappear and ghost him for months. And he'll get so in denial about her that he won't listen to my warnings about her, that he's forgotten how toxic she was as a partner, and now just sees her as this perfect angel who could do no harm. Im waiting for the both Breaking Dawn parts, they are the most hilarious ones. I used to be obsessed with Twilight when I was younger, and now Im 19 and watched the whole saga again. Actually, these movies aren't that bad, but they are kinda funny and irrational. The last two parts are surprisingly dumb and interesting at the same time. Which doesn't change the fact that music in every part is amazing.
The books are amazing. They explain a whole new world and context that the movies lacks to make sense. And this is coming from a 22 yo normal guy who has read them 3 times. Loved each one of them. Movies are a huge disappointment in comparison.

M Elle people forget that in New Moon she was genuinely falling for him up until the point that they’re about to kiss and then Edward calls. But then when she realized Edward was lying and wanted her back, she went back to him. Jacob definitely let himself get used, but he was in love so he wasn’t thinking. I personally am still pissed that Meyer purposely made Jacob’s character more unlikable (she actually even admitted to it) as the series went on. But then again, she did that with all her POC characters so I’m not surprised.
ajheé I felt like she was falling for him only because Edward was gone and Jacob was there. She may have had some sort of feelings for him but nothing like she felt for Edward. I think most writers like to romanticize the vampires and make werewolves the bad guys. She definitely tried to make Jacob unlikeable so we would be more on board with Bella being with Edward.

I’m pissed that was never addressed in the series though either. Sexual assault that "is okay" because the girl then realizes she loves the guy (mind you, in the books Bella verbalises this in her mind, I'm pretty sure) is very common, and so are all the other emotional manipulations he does. Edward is a creepy stalker but he's "boring" for this type of story, because despite everything, he doesn't really cross limits, and most of their troubles have to be somewhat Bella's or a third party's fault if he keeps on his lane (he doesn't, and he's very jealous, but like, for the standards of a romance novel he's pretty okay).
If you check how fanfics are doing today, Jacob types are very much more popular. He lashes out. He sexually assaults her. He spells out what she should feel for him and try to convince her. He pursues her even though she doesn't seem to want it at all. And sure, she's kinda "sending signals", but in a way most teenage girls do when they have a dear friend who likes her: she accepts his behaviour to keep him around. Jacob comes across as "genuine" in his pursuit while Edward comes across as someone who's trying to restrain himself, which is why a lot of people prefer Jacob. But this was in no way a new thing when Twilight came out, and it definitely got worse afterwards. (I.e. compare this two morons with every guy on 50 Shades, or look up fanfic reads. This is tame in comparison. And I think the author had a bit more of knowledge that these things are bad, even if she didn't know to what extent, because Jacob doesn't actually get the girl, and Bella does seem to internally hate this behaviour.)

Okay, how weird is it that the description of how Bella acts around Jacob, is LITERALLY my psychotic nemesis with her ex who is my guy best friend from high school? She's like the psychotic version of Bella. She has a boyfriend who she claims to deeply love, but yet likes to claim to my best friend that she worries and cares about him; but when she gets his mental state messed up and in false hope that they'll get back together, she'll disappear and ghost him for months. And he'll get so in denial about her that he won't listen to my warnings about her, that he's forgotten how toxic she was as a partner, and now just sees her as this perfect angel who could do no harm. When really, she's a psychotic, manipulative bitch who unnecessarily involves people when it comes to fights with me; a.k.a my older sister and her ex, my best friend. And to each of them, she plays the victim completely, trying to make me look like some harassing bully with purely evil intentions. My sister doesn't buy her bullshit and ignores her, but of course my best friend does, unfortunately, and gets mad at me about her. Of course, Bella's not as bad as her, she's just dumb. But no, this girl is someone you never want to meet, or will wish you never brought into your life. But like Bella, she'll pretend to care about my best friend, to keep him around so he's there when she needs someone. And to him, his poor soul thinks that's her still caring about him. When she and her boyfriend broke up, my best friend wanted her to live with him, and she agreed only to ghost him and not reply to anything for months, only to get back together with her boyfriend. And somehow, my best friend won't find reason after a year, to move on and fully accept things, not just partially.
Sorry for the random, personal rant, but when Alex said that about Bella, it just triggered me.

Im waiting for the both Breaking Dawn parts, they are the most hilarious ones. I used to be obsessed with Twilight when I was younger, and now Im 19 and watched the whole saga again. Actually, these movies aren't that bad, but they are kinda funny and irrational. The last two parts are surprisingly dumb and interesting at the same time. Which doesn't change the fact that music in every part is amazing.
The books are amazing. They explain a whole new world and context that the movies lacks to make sense. And this is coming from a 22 yo normal guy who has read them 3 times. Loved each one of them. Movies are a huge disappointment in comparison.

Yeah Bella knew exactly what she was doing with Jacob. I also blame Jacob for continuously letting her use him, but when you’re in love and young common sense always leaves the chat..
M Elle people forget that in New Moon she was genuinely falling for him up until the point that they’re about to kiss and then Edward calls. But then when she realized Edward was lying and wanted her back, she went back to him. Jacob definitely let himself get used, but he was in love so he wasn’t thinking. I personally am still pissed that Meyer purposely made Jacob’s character more unlikable (she actually even admitted to it) as the series went on. But then again, she did that with all her POC characters so I’m not surprised.
ajheé I felt like she was falling for him only because Edward was gone and Jacob was there. She may have had some sort of feelings for him but nothing like she felt for Edward. I think most writers like to romanticize the vampires and make werewolves the bad guys. She definitely tried to make Jacob unlikeable so we would be more on board with Bella being with Edward.
M Elle oh 100%. The only reason she even starts befriending Jacob is because she knows he can fix things and brings over the motorcycles (her being reckless) so that she can see Edwards face. I’m pissed that was never addressed in the series though either. Honestly I hate how everybody, myself included, was always saying how Eclipse was the peak of the love triangle and looking back at it now it really wasn’t. Bella always chose Edward after he came back. Jacob was just on the outside looking in. I hate that Stephenie made his character into such a joke and then just makes him irrelevant in the end with Breaking Dawn. But I’m gonna get off my soap box before I go too deep lmao.
