    To Lesley:
I’m 17 and I have been diagnosed with clinical depression 3 years ago. I completely agree with the way you said that no matter what happens around you, you just don’t care and you just feel fatigued and depressed. Anhedonia, recklessness, anger/ irritability are also common symptoms with teens with depression.
I love the way you actually named your depression! I think I should do that as well! I feel like depression defines me and I always let it define me. I’ve tried personifying my depression, but I’m always saying that she’s defeating me. I even have an original song called Save Me. It’s actually what I want to say to my depression.
Yes, depression also makes me so exhausted. I do not have energy, I don’t want to see anyone and I want to be alone. The technique you mentioned is called behavioural activation. See, our mind body and emotions are connected and when we’re depressed, we tend to isolate ourselves and stay in bed all day long without doing anything. So that actually makes our emotions worse as our bodies are fatigued. However if we get up and change settings or engage in something, that actually boosts our emotions. So an important thing to cope with depression is to do things opposite to your emotions.
Yep. They always say you got better but why is it back again? I’m like girl- there’s something called recurrent depressive episode? Depression, or any mental illnesses are always possible and likely to reoccur! It’s how we deal with it that defines recovery. Like it’s still there but you know how to hold it by hand and have a different attitude towards it.
Uhuh! I HATE COMPARISON! Once, my ex clinical psychologist told me “who are you to be sad? Think about the children in Africa who are starving-“ as a result I just got even more depressed. The guilt we experience is so bad already it does us more harm than good by giving us comparisons and telling us that what we’re feeling is wrong.
I agree that listening and accompany is the best way to help us. Just let us cry and vent you don’t need to say anything. In these times, silence is gold. 因為我哋經常都聽唔入耳,or our minds are too clogged up to think or take in anything at all. Think about a statue, it’s just there. Our bodies are just there but we are not. Do I even make any sense 😅
I always feel like a burden so I always say sorry and like sometimes they’re like you keep on saying sorry and it’s annoying. It makes me even more guilty and apologetic.
(I’ll continue my comment on part 2 of your video) I really hope you come across this comment because I want you to know how impactful and meaningful it is that you’re advocating for mental health! It makes us feel less alone! Also thank you Radioicare for conducting these interviews!

Grief and losses is a standalone subject we learn in the nursing home which I served for six months. All you said is very relevant. The more I follow your work, the more impressed I’m with your sharing. 👏👏👏👏
