on mine, the lower control arm bottoms out on the subframe making it impossible (without loosening subframe bolts and lowering subframe) to pop the strut assembly out of the knuckle.
@@MartinRodriguez-mf7pq I lowered the subframe in the long run. Car is kinda beat up rn, got into an accident and am fine. But it destroyed my new shocks and bent my rack and pinion bad.
@@MartinRodriguez-mf7pq Chances are you're going to have to. No way around it unfortunately. I tried my damndest to get it off without lowering the subframe, but there just isn't enough clearance.
i have beat on my strut bolt for 3 days. it will not move, used heat and everything. even took tie rod loose so i could get a good wack at it. i dunno what to do now
You may have to cut the old top strut mount bolts/nuts to free it from the strout tower/housing. Use a grinder/cutting wheel to cut the bolts off and then you ahould be able to wiggle the strut from under free! Im assuming you have the bottom strut free from the brake rotor and everything like that!
Is that new strut a Monroe economatic roadmaster.....or part #181615.....because I have the Monroe 171615 on my 2001 ford taurus and I had a hard time getting them on my car....I bought a set...I put the 2 on the front....it did not go on that easy....I had the motorcraft original struts on the car at first and the ride was about the same....I just wasted $700..the 171615 Monroe struts were a little longer than the Motorcraft oem struts. I should have left them on my car.
Quick note to your viewers, never ever ever tighten the top bolts of the strut as you are preloading them completely wrong. Those volts do not get tightened and torqued until you have put the wheel on and place the vehicle on the ground. And next time remove your tie rod end, and please never make another video like this until you know what you're doing
@@ikonik7777 you did too many steps wrong for me to enjoy the video. Sorry but tightening the top three bolts and not removing The tie rod end was enough for me

What year and model do you have?

I'm sorry to hear that but I'm glad you're OK. I have an 07 Taurus and I'm hoping I don't have to lower the subframe

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. I just finished taking off the drivers side and lowering the subframe made it alot easier. Thanks
Did you have to lower the subframe?
No
Is the Monroe advantage strut the exact same length as the Motorcraft OEM strut?
Unsure, time to grab that measuring tape!
hello men do you know where i can find for a Taurus 2013?
Rock Auto, or any local ford dealership/Auto Parts Store.

@@ikonik7777 got it fixed. Lowered sub frame. Used a dremmul. But I finally got it Heat and a 20lb sledge. Long story.
How not to install.
