This song really speaks to me. I was stuck in my own echo chamber for a while. Mostly due to years of depression, I was so scared of coming out of it. I was never truly myself around others, not even with myself. Going to therapy definitely helped me open my eyes. But, the final crack in the ice that broke it was falling in love with someone who would notice that about me. Being in a relationship with him made me realize, "Oh... my actions aren't just affecting ME. There are others who I impact." It was a revelation within myself that I wasn't alone. I felt alone for a very very long time that I acted so selfishly and was blind to it. I wanted to be blind to it. Not anymore. I am now self-aware, and it still can be a struggle for me. There's an internal conflict of what I used to know vs what I want to become. Beautiful work Jonathan! So many of us have waited for another original, your voice really resonates your words. Can't wait for more~
Kaeli Keables an echo chamber is more like a “safe place” where all opinions are the same and no one opposes it. It’s easy to explain if you think about the liberal and Democratic Party in The United States, they both won’t compromise and shut out all opinions that don’t “fit” with their own opinions. Sadly that’s the state of most American culture recently. Hopefully it can be overcome.
Wow, that really is something else...wonderful story, and thank you for sharing! I feel like I too have done the same at times; you get depressed when you think you're alone, not realizing that not only are you hurting yourself, you've become blind to others. Absolutely true. I think that it really does help to care for others. It's hard sometimes, but, well, personal opinion: I think we deprive ourselves of meaningful disagreement sometimes. We don't need an 'echo chamber' to make us feel okay with yourselves, we need people who'll see us as people, no matter where we come from or what opinions we hold, and we should do the same. Anyhow, that might have been a little circular, but what I meant to say was that this was a great song and also, thanks for the comment. I wish you all the best!
@@bigbo672 Tbh if you think it's only limited to liberals then you may be in an echo chamber yourself -- there are echo chambers for every sort of political affiliation, in all parties and all non-party adherent political groups (socialists, libertarians, centrists, etc.). Sorry chester but I have to disagree that its not taking a stance. The language chosen is damning to the use of echo chambers or “hug boxes” as we used to call them. If you’re part of the community and say what everyone else agrees with? Great! If you bring any form of contention or thought that maybe just maybe the community is operating out of fear or not quite enough information? They turn ugly really fast. Can even have repercussions outside as well if the people know some stuff about you in real life. The bigger problem is that this is a tactic used by groups the world over to keep people from thinking rather than doing. Be it a political group on fb, or an influencer on twitter or instagram trying to catch the attention of a sponsor, or people selling bad science cause they’re paid to and people fear the results. It sounds pretty clearly that while he’s being understanding of the feeling and need to fit in, this is a really unhealthy way to go about it. “Everything you know is by design” is also pretty blatantly against the idea of them. Controlling access to knowledge and keeping members from bringing in new knowledge or questioning the group think through fear, negative dismissal (belittling the new info, attacking them personally, etc,)or out right driving out the one who dared to question the groups world view makes sure other members know what happens to those who question. *LYRICS* It's late and you're still staring at the light To call it an addiction's impolite Create a mental fortress for your fright No dissonance disturbs you, locked up tight And ever you dismiss any crack in your keep, Autophobia when you're falling asleep Cherry-picking facts, rather sit than act, But your talk is cheap And now you're diving low just reviving morale Oh, it looks like hell in there, never self-aware, shallow Thoughts you claim to hate, but you still create I see through that though Echo chamber Keep us blind When we stay there The world seems less unkind Misbehavior Left behind In the echo chamber Everything you know is by design You lied, but it was mostly to the mirror That window now is blurry with your fear You tried to make it cleaner, make it clear But you're worried what they'll say if you're sincere And every time you post thinking you're the most deep But what you're going through's never really unique I've seen it all before, think you're hardcore Swimming in conceit In this 'make a contest out of sadness' trend Take the moral high ground, sing a sad sound, then Have a misery phase, sympathy pays When you play your friends
I've got to say, I like Jonathan's originals even better than his covers. His covers are awesome too, but his originals tend to be on yet another level. Especially with the obvious thought he puts into the lyrics.
I find it quite synchronous that just over this past weekend I was thinking on how very brave you are in regard to social media. And then come Monday you release an original with comments that captured my attention and acutely so. Indeed the venue of social media can be vicious across all platforms but, it can also be healing. I myself have just resurfaced to social media after a 6 ½ year hiatus. I truly believe I will never go back to Facebook..... Know sir, that your courage, on-line presence and craft are one of three external factors in my decision to resurface. Thank you…..for what? I hear you ask.....for being who you are as you are. For your brutal self-honesty. For your integrity. For riding your shining dreams through the darkness and from within that darkness creating light-filled expressions of self. Yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes, Jonathan….for your courageous expression of self….thank you. So, I too have decided to be brave in my own way and come back. In my time away I have learned that those that judge with a hate-filled heart are not my mirror. They are only there to remind me of who I am not and what no longer serves my life-path. If I may Jonathan please, offer you words of encouragement..... ~ May your mind know the laser-sharp discernment of what serves your ingenious creative flow and what does not. May your thoughts - if troubled - be gently eased from all attachments that hinder your wild and eclectic imagination. {a loud and sweeping trademark Jonathan Young *SNAP* inserted here} Thank you for posting Echo Chamber. I love it.
Ok, it may have taken this long but Jonathan’s music feels so urgent and needed right now. We need more roaring rock anthems about the perils of social media.
I'm going on a binge of all of Jon's original content, and I'm loving every single song I hear. I don't know why I've hesitated for so long... I guess I'm just sentimental sometimes, but truly, Jonathan is class-A musician in his own right. Don't let anybody else tell you otherwise, my friend!
I've watched you for a while, and I understand that you are making a separate channel for your original content. I have to say that this is honestly one of my favorite songs of yours. I know that a sizable amount of people click on covers of songs they recognize, and they may pass over stuff like this. However, I can tell you have a great deal of passion for music and you placed a lot of effort behind this, and I appreciate it.
I've been waiting to hear another original ever sense Bait :). glad to see you writing more original music, you seem more genuine when you do. can't wait for the next!
This is by far one of my favorite songs, not just from you, but in general. Often times, artists and musicians care about one of their creations so much that they try to make it "perfect" in order to match the idealization of their product. Because of this, the more we work on it, the more deeply we realize it will never be the exact way we hear or see it in our minds. This causes us to detach from what we've created so we can stop torturing ourselves with it, but it also causes us to produce something masterful, nuanced, and original. This is a song that cannot be imitated, and the feeling it captures cannot be reacreated. Other songs like this for me are Seven by Phinehas, redemption by August burns red, and this is who we are and halo by machine head.
Its sounds so good and the lyrics are just so honest, and its unfinished. If this is how the unfinished product is like, then I cant imagine how good the finished product will be like.
I’ve been waiting and waiting for new original stuff! I know you said to consider this a “demo” but I truly do enjoy it as is, it’s great! I can’t wait for more originals in the future ❤️
Jon, I know you feel like this song is unfinished, and you may never feel like it is. Now, I can't assume to know anything about your thoughts, but it's possible that a song like this may never truly feel "finished". The world is always changing, and so are the people in it. This song sinks into me in a way I can't really understand, but I enjoy it immensely, and if inspiration hits you, more original songs would be awesome, but either way, you have an amazing voice, and I speak for all of your subscribers when I say, do what you can, we'll be here and enjoy every song you put out.
Jonathan, the sign of a true artist is the ability to do multiple and varied actions and make them look easy. Great job!! Making everything you do sound the same just becomes formulaic and boring. Never stop growing! You are truly a gifted musivian.
While not one of my Favorites of yours, this song was still really good and meaningful. It makes some people think about stuff. P.S: the main reason this aint an instant favorite is because at heart, I'm a metal head, and aside from Jesus, I live for all things rock and metal.
Jon, remember that you will always be your own worse critic. Even unfinished this song is absolutely beautiful. You have a community that will always love and support you. Never feel ashamed or a need to justify your work. We will be here to love and appreciate all your hard work
Ésta canción es perfecta para mi. Usted hace música que me relaja, su voz me hace sentir tranquila y pues no se lo escucho con mucho amor con lo que hace. Por favor no pare de hacer lo que le encanta hacer. Lo quiero mucho❤
I really love this song. It feels so raw and real. I have it on loop and tears keep pricking the corners of my eyes as I sing along. I am so excited to see more of your original content. Your lyrics move so well and have a great flow.
i love how uncomfortable Jon's stuff can make me feel. this and BAIT made me feel so guilty and ashamed while listening to it, which is exactly the point. it's some of the most profound music I've ever heard. and I can't wait for more.
I love that so many of these cover artists are coming out and making original music. It really makes them feel like the next evolution of media, expanding their horizons from wonderfully covering others songs to creating their own digital mark on the music scene. What I love about Jons music and especially his songs Bait and this one is the focus on the internets influence on our lives: it’s the kind of music that we would never hear from a mainstream label. Keep up the good work Jon.
Honestly love how Jon's original songs really reflect upon us, like this one. Nowadays, most young people are subjected to an echo chamber of their own design, free from conflicts due to being surrounded by people with similar views. Really good job with your songs man, keep up the great work!
I decided to listen to the song before I leave my "omg I'm early comment". I was, but I don't care. This Song is such a masterpiece, holy cow! I really feel touched not only by the Musical part of this and your Voice - we all know your voice is absolutely amazing - but also the way you are choosing the words you sing. I interpretated that chorus a lot into the way of self-criticsm, in my own case, even self-hate.. yes, as long as I keep myself in the chamber, I can't help myself but feel bad all the time.. I keep myself blind. And I hide from stuff. This Song really touched my feelings immediately after listening to it. You wrote it wasnt finished, but tbf, I don't think many of your fans will notice. I also only did by reading the description.. Long story short: Even though I probably interpretate the song a bit different, it is still absolutely amazing, and the stuff you wrote in the description is highly understand- and relatable.. Thank you for quite a deep insight into your mental state through this Song! I can't wait for more Originals. You really do a great Job! Keep being awesome, dear Jon. Greetings from the middle of germany. (:
I have to admit it does feel like the song is missing something. I have no clue what, but at the same time I still like it a lot. It is most likely going to end up on my background music list for when Im reading/writing. Hope to hear more of your own stuff in the future.
Something in the backtrack constantly stays nearly at the same hights the whole song.... so it sound kinda monotone but i think that is wanted.... it sounds like played far away. Like in a dream or in a Echo Chamber.
Jonathan, I have to say, this song is amazing. The entire melody is so simple, and yet you manage to do so much between it and the lyrics. Thank you for another gem of a song, and please, keep at it.

Jeez... I wish I was as good at writing songs as almost every single songwriter out there. Every time I make an attempt at lyrics, it's just not "good enough" for me and I don't want to share it in any way. Then I see original songs like this, and I wonder to myself, "Why can't I do that?" Maybe it's my insecurities. Maybe I just don't have enough self-confidence. Maybe I just haven't found something actually good to write about or something along those lines. so everything you know about time is by design?
I come back here so often, it just speaks to me.
its like me speaking to myself.
As a person with BPD and SAD that dont really go outside in the last 6 years, i can feel this song more then i want to sometimes.
This song will Echo within my brain forever. A Masterpiece!
*LYRICS*
It's late and you're still staring at the light
To call it an addiction's impolite
Create a mental fortress for your fright
No dissonance disturbs you, locked up tight
And ever you dismiss any crack in your keep,
Autophobia when you're falling asleep
Cherry-picking facts, rather sit than act,
But your talk is cheap
And now you're diving low just reviving morale
Oh, it looks like hell in there, never self-aware, shallow
Thoughts you claim to hate, but you still create
I see through that though
Echo chamber
Keep us blind
When we stay there
The world seems less unkind
Misbehavior
Left behind
In the echo chamber
Everything you know is by design
You lied, but it was mostly to the mirror
That window now is blurry with your fear
You tried to make it cleaner, make it clear
But you're worried what they'll say if you're sincere
And every time you post thinking you're the most deep
But what you're going through's never really unique
I've seen it all before, think you're hardcore
Swimming in conceit
In this 'make a contest out of sadness' trend
Take the moral high ground, sing a sad sound, then
Have a misery phase, sympathy pays
When you play your friends
Please come out with a full album of original songs ❤ I'd buy the heckin heck out of it
Save me a heck
He did. Far From Blue. I bought it off Bandcamp a while ago, but he's taken it down off there for some reason.
I REALLY love this song.
I love your original songs. Covers are great, but your originals have their own spark that set them on another level. Greetings from Florida!
I've got to say, I like Jonathan's originals even better than his covers. His covers are awesome too, but his originals tend to be on yet another level. Especially with the obvious thought he puts into the lyrics.
You’re verifiably my favorite artist
Seriously
I love you
I find it quite synchronous that just over this past weekend I was thinking on how very brave you are in regard to social media.
~ May your mind know the laser-sharp discernment of what serves your ingenious creative flow and what does not. May your thoughts - if troubled - be gently eased from all attachments that hinder your wild and eclectic imagination. {a loud and sweeping trademark Jonathan Young *SNAP* inserted here}
Thank you for posting Echo Chamber. I love it.
@JonathanYoung my king, please may you consider adding Echo Chamber to your "Originals" playlist?
The covers you put out are absolutely amazing but your originals are even better! Please release more I'm sure we'd all love to hear more❤❤
Ok, it may have taken this long but Jonathan’s music feels so urgent and needed right now. We need more roaring rock anthems about the perils of social media.
GIVE ME DEM LYRICS. Seriously, I almost screamed in my dead monotone voice when I saw ORIGINAL SONG.
"Screamed in my dead monotone voice."
I can hear it, lol.

Just found you recently. I came for your covers but I'm loving your originals even more. This song got so much in my head I dreamt about this song.
Agreed
I've watched you for a while, and I understand that you are making a separate channel for your original content. I have to say that this is honestly one of my favorite songs of yours. I know that a sizable amount of people click on covers of songs they recognize, and they may pass over stuff like this. However, I can tell you have a great deal of passion for music and you placed a lot of effort behind this, and I appreciate it.
I've been waiting to hear another original ever sense Bait :). glad to see you writing more original music, you seem more genuine when you do. can't wait for the next!
Ahh yes, an excellent Jonathan Young content as per usual, I'm loving the original songs so much!!
"more original songs coming whenever" I love it
may or may not have the original songs playlist on loop
they're just all so good :)
Thank you Jon! Been waiting! Cant wait for more of these! Fantastic job by the way!
Other songs like this for me are Seven by Phinehas, redemption by August burns red, and this is who we are and halo by machine head.
this is gorgeous, and it's one of a kind? beautiful, flawless job as always bro
Its sounds so good and the lyrics are just so honest, and its unfinished. If this is how the unfinished product is like, then I cant imagine how good the finished product will be like.
So epic
I can listen to this song over and over again . Amazing !!!!
I really like this.
Echo Chambers...keep us blind...so true
Jonathan, the sign of a true artist is the ability to do multiple and varied actions and make them look easy. Great job!! Making everything you do sound the same just becomes formulaic and boring. Never stop growing! You are truly a gifted musivian.
While not one of my Favorites of yours, this song was still really good and meaningful. It makes some people think about stuff.
P.S: the main reason this aint an instant favorite is because at heart, I'm a metal head, and aside from Jesus, I live for all things rock and metal.
It is 4 years later and I still return to this song. Good job man.
man, what an excellent find. I'll be downloading this song hand downs.
You the best Jonathan.
Love this song so much.
it's amazing! and please don't let criticism ever take you down.. you rock!
Your originals have always been your bests!! I absolutely love them!!
Your original songs are always so relevant and thought provoking. Awesome sound, I’m looking forward to more original stuff in the future.
I am floored. You wrote this?! This is the type of stuff I subscribed to you for; Honest, Good, Music.
This reminds me of an 80's soft rock type of song. I really like it!
Absolutely adore everything Johnathan has covered and now that we've got original stuff it just gets better and better
YESSSS I was waiting for this !! Been listening to this for 4 days straight now !! Your best original to me to this day absolutely awesome !
Yes please. I’ll buy the album when it comes out.
Hell yeah some more original Jonathan young. It's great man! Keep it up
I really love this song.
My good man ........ WHEN EVER IS NOT FREQUENTLY ENOUGH! Your original songs are some of my all-time favorite songs. Keep at it please
I always wished you'd do some original stuff so glad to see you doing it
There are a few more original songs of his, did you listen to them too ? They're great !
@@martelraykin oh didn't know I'm not really a long time subscriber I'll be sure to check them out thanks for letting me know
Fantastic! Well done on the original song!
First Game of Thrones episode 3, now this - what a gooood day!
This is like one of my favorite songs of all time no joke
Original? Wah #NOTexpected well done! ;)
As much as i love your covers, i absolutely adore your original songs. You can make something amazing, so please, keep it up Jon!
Can't believe it's already been a year and half... And this is still the song of my soul
@@julianfuchs9253 that could be it. Tnx
@@jonathanymusic that makes sense, thank you for explaining and for the awesome music you make
Jonathan, I have to say, this song is amazing. The entire melody is so simple, and yet you manage to do so much between it and the lyrics. Thank you for another gem of a song, and please, keep at it.
All rise for the internet's *real* theme song.
John I look forward to more music like this don't feel like everyone is judging you. Just do what you like and think is good, because I will all ways support you on it.
AMAZING JOB LAD, still waiting for Bloody Stream though. Btw, I don't feel like you're being unproductive, if it means anything
Hey Jon, I've heard this song about 10-15 times now, honestly, outstanding job. If you ever get tired of covers, your original songs are just as great, if not better.
3rd view 124th like well done youtube

3 views and 23 likes. Thanks RUclips
bekahbean777 you have to watch enough seconds of the video for it to count as a whole "view", so if 3 people pop in and "like" the video, followed a few seconds after by 20 others who insta-like it (and you’re in that second pool of people), it has by that point counted all 23 likes-but _not_ all 23 views yet.
@@DTX0217 Oh ok. That makes sense.
I guess I just envy people like you. I don't know, but this is probably one of the best songs I've heard from you. Keep it up, man!

Your originals always seem to have such a haunting quality that stays with me for a long time after I hear it. 💗💗

@R.J. the Seeker Very true! Luckily in the long run history shows that Reason and stability wins out in the end, it has to. Or the system self destructs from it's own self righteous corruption.
Yay! Another original! I was thinking just the other day about when you might come out with another.
Love the meaning of this. So many people need to hear it.
Fantastic work, mate! 10/10, will listen again.
I've become slightly obsessed with this exact concept, and am so excited to have an original Jonathan Young song about it!
I absolutely love it Jonathan, congratulations on another wonderful original piece 💖
