Exactly. No other colony in real life would allow the human race to integrate with their growth & expansion. Humanity is a greed race to a self destructive point & humanity is also deathly afraid of anything different from itself so that's war to TAKE what they want out of desperation or take another reason off the board. In reality the final frontier is TRULY the Final Frontier. The death of the last of humanity is that finale.
"Who can trust us when they learn why we're adrift," is such a good lyric to capture the hopelessness of this situation. Like... we are in the middle of committing matricide as a species, destroying the only place we know of that we can exist, our mother nature. Who can trust a species negligent or callous enough to do that?
The ones that can see the truth behind our remorse, and our depression in losing the cradle of our species. The ones that see that we are adamant... We won't make the same mistakes again. Not all will see it, but those with wisdom, or those that have failed to do the same, themselves... They will recognize the cracked souls of those whom have lost their one and true home behind tired and steely eyes.
The thing I love the most about this story is despite its hopeful sound and tone, the lyrics are quite tragic. Sure, they got off the Earth, but THEY destroyed it. Like it says. "But who can trust us when they learn why we're adrift if we cant even trust ourselves?" The writing is just incredible...

And then there’s the guys who form a band and go ~80 years into the past to brag about their band, but hey, maybe time travel exists here!

It's sad to think that, in a sense, the song and video are *optimistic* about our future and climate change. The earth's core may not blow up, but we sure as hell aren't making any progress to even *leave* like the people in the video are.
Dude this was so much more intense than I anticipated and that scene of the girl losing her stuffed animal made me cry. 10/10 song, will listen to it on repeat
I've been listening to this song every single day since it came out and each time I FEEL what they are going through. The hopelessness, the sadness. Imagine, you being part of the last few people left on the planet you've known all your life, imagine it being destroyed seconds after escaping. That right there, THAT is what got the tears in my eyes. When they escaped the ever burning ash and dust of the building collapsing into/onto the planet, after all the years of panicking that the planet would explode at any moment. when they knew they were free from the hell they were born in, when the knew they had a second chance at life, I felt all that hope and happiness. No song has ever made me feel this way, never. Jonathan may never see this, but if you so happen to see it. Keep making original songs...this is the thing we never knew we needed until it was here. And you know what? I've been thinking, what if this was voiced? The animation I mean?
Honestly I feel yea, the shot that lingers in my mind is the rabbit sitting upon the rubble as everything tears apart. The image is striking as imagine another species happens upon a ruined earth, lush with new life and they dig into the soil and find the remains of the rabbit, maybe rabbits don't exist anymore and they wonder what made this, what was this, is this made by something that once lived here? Hell imagine a human in the far future happening across it and wondering the story within the changed world.
@@rainhadainglaterra8829 Bro, we don't need a miracle to stop the earths core from going critical. In fact with our current technology we would need a miracle to actually effect the earths core. Sure we're definitely messing up the planet but as of yet we're just endangering the living lifeforms. Then again maybe that's what you meant by basically, since from a human perspective there isn't a difference. Either way we'd be in space or extinct :( Just realizing now that the only point to this comment is me fanboying over how the earth wins in a fight against humans. I'm a weird dude.
It was this very feeling that made Firefall, by Red 5 Studios, one of my absolute favorite online games of all time before The 9 ruined it. (Not to mention the CRAZY good gameplay). Humanity had lost earth to a monstrous sentient energy death cloud called the Melding. It had slipped in and invaded our universe from its own like a parasite, because humanity got too greedy with its newfound interstellar exploration powers and attempted too big and too far of an arc spacefold before we were ready. The game was about trying to fight back the melding and reclaim our broken world, which had been forever changed. Unfortunately, The 9 (a fucking money-grubbing cheap mobile-market cash-grab game company from China) got ahold of the rights, ruined the game, and killed it some time ago. What I would give to see that game remade as it was in the heyday of its best public beta versions...
The smug look of the ship's captain at the end as he charge to the next planet, is so depressingly on-point for the theme of the rest of the song and album. Nice job to the animator.
Yeah, it makes you realize that despite living in hell, people just wont change. Humans can only see short-term, just like this captain can only see that his plan to escape has worked; but doesn't seem to understand that this is not the point.
@@tol9090 Indeed. This, and Army of Tigers, showcase just how fucking suicidally stupid we are as a species and we in the US are as a culture. Rather than take responsibility for our actions and our ancestors' actions and make things right, we either go somewhere else to ignore our problems only to repeat them in a new location, or blame the things that help us survive and destroy them & thus hasten our own destruction as a result.
@@Fiskarsson hold up, you're telling me that the video ITSELF is original content too? I thought it was just some Anime i'd never heard of....... I have no words
I dunno, I think the video sabotages the core premise of the song. In the song, humanity is running from certain death, and into the unknown. ("undiscovered system far from here" and "where ever the wind may take us" ), they don't even know if the ship will work ("if the wind takes our sails") or if they themselves can survive the journey ("if we live to tell the tale") The video clearly shows the ship working as expected, and they have a place to run to, and not just to run from. Once they've lifted off, it turns from a desperate race for survival and search for a new home to more or less a bus ride.
@@littlegrabbiZZ9PZA the ship may be working but they have no way of knowing if it will make the journey or not, or if the place they're going to is still going to be around by the time they get there
@@charlotteshenkenberger345 I imagine it as symbolism for humans lack of care for the planet that they are escaping. Like "We treated earth like a toy and now were sad that we lost it while escaping"
This song gives me big environmentalist/space enthusiast feelings, just listening to the song on the album made me cry. This video gives me goosebumps.
An album with Velociraptor in the name has no business hitting this hard, but goddamn if I'm not glad that it does anyway. I swear, everything you touch is straight gold.
I've listened to this a lot today. The more I listen to this, the sadder I get. It is just really good. I did not think you could cry from a metal song, but I was almost about to. I did not watch the video at first, I just heard the song. I realized that 2091, I might still be alive and about 91 years old. And I pictured my hypothetical son leaving the broken mess we once called a planet, a pioneer flying away to unknown worlds, leaving us all behind. I was very proud of my hypothetical son. This probably won't be read by anyone, but if it does, maybe let me know what you thought.
I read it. I want to do what I can to support your hypothetical son. I don't know what this means, but we can all do something, as small as that may be.
That would be cool, but unfortunately, all of our environmental issues will not end up with a sudden collapse of our infrastructures, volcano and oceans rising up in days. It will be a very slow process that is hard to stop and will create tension within humanity. At some point it will be more and more difficult to produce food (mostly due to global warming) and we will reach a breaking point where we will probably not be able to feed every human one the planet even though he divide it equally among all the people. It will rise tension between nation and food insecurity and conflicts on the globe. So when the humanity will be down to just a big ship, the earth will be still functioning and land will still be here for us too live. Just dryer and hotter and with less land because of the rise of the ocean. It could happen though that the earth become inhabitable by human (shit in the air composition, global acidification of the earth) but with bigger issues and causes that what we have now. (like the dinosaurs meteor with change the air composition and obscured too heavily the sky) And going into the space is that big of a challenge that i doubt if it would happen that we will do it in a century
@RichaadEB What are your other top two? For me top three would be Hyperspeed, Jetpack Race and the feelgood favorite Glory or Gold. Wasn't easy to choose, though.
The tragedy of Earth's destruction didn't make me nearly as emotional as the little girl having to leave behind her toy. Beautiful writing, great song, great animation 👍
@@yoruemiya9196 On the contrary, its quite a hopeful song, Earth may be doomed, but thanks to human ingenuity, we've been given a chance to start over, a fresh start, a second chance, this time avoiding the same mistakes that doomed our ancesters back on Earth. All of that plus the venturing into the final frontier to colonize a new planet, to continue our species and our history. Out of the entire Starship Velociraptor album, this song sticks out to memory the most, and what a choice it was for the final song. This one gives me chills. ❤️
Although I am from Russia, I know English well. The song itself touched the strings in my soul, both from the composition itself and from the video. Ladies and gentlemen - take care of the Earth. We still have to live on it and live up to the technologies that are shown in the clip.
"If we not end with wars...war will end us".....H.G Wells say this words, and this anime are show how it can end....we should think what we all doing forword, for out future and future of our kids....I am Russian too ,and I can't not agree whit you Qwa1
I don't think I've ever been so emotionally invested in the animation for a music video! When the planet started breaking I was terrified that the family was going to be left behind. Great work and fantastic music!
I swear this song makes me weep every goddamn time. With all the gems of Starship Velociraptor, this is the best one for me. So powerful - it punches my guts like the best apo/post-apo stories in less than six minutes. Thank you, Jon, and please keep rockin'.
I think what I like most about this song is that, while it's appeal to society in part & whole is clear, and it openly states our guilt, it doesn't focus on making us feel bad for our mistakes. It encourages us to do better despite them. Which is a step that I wish was taken more: The difference between "you did this badly/wrong!" and "You can do this better!". And, y'know, the fact that it's a banger to listen to.
You know, at first I judged this song hard because of its environmental message. But I realize now that I made a snap judgement. I feel very strongly about how manipulative environmentalism can be, and at times I only see a weapon to exploit Western civilization. In the midst of that, sometimes I forget that the world isn't black and white and there's a reason for everything. Sorry for the paragraph, but you're right friend. This song doesn't try to break you apart with guilt. It encourages you to be your better self. I just hope that someday I can become better about not judging others and seeing the bigger picture. It's hard.
@@LaserMaster95 Well environmentalism is based on known science and data that shows we are wrecking our environment that we need to live it's not just the west either it's all of humanity we all need to be better.
@@WokeandProud True, an objective analysis would allow one to reach that conclusion. The reason I'm skeptical is that often the US is singled out as the cause of the world's destruction, treated with a level of harshness not imposed on any other country. When scientific studies are abused for political gain, hardly anyone speaks out against it, as if they're perfectly okay with fear mongering as a solution to pollution. I guess my question is: Is this really science, or a forced consensus to manipulate statistics? Considering how hard it is to predict the weather, even today, an accurate prediction of its distant future is something to be skeptical of. I just don't trust that the numbers are reliable, since research is hardly ever as cut-and-dry as what we're currently presented with. It's entirely possible that with the control of a biased majority, we just aren't getting all the facts.
seeing the ending shots where we see the earth from the outside, it made me deeply sad. earth is our home planet, to see it destroyed in such a way hurts a lot.
The legacy of the human race, we caused the problems, and we tried to fix them, when we failed, we didn’t give up, we just kept fighting, humans can be horrible, but we dont give in. Not even to our planet being destroyed.
@@Fairydragon- To me that's what I love about people when I see them. a lot of living creatures in history have had severe impact on their environment(often eating a certain animal or plant until it's extinct or something), and wouldn't care any less for it. Humans are one of the few that can become aware of such behavior and attempt to stop eachother from giving out pain to other creatures. I believe modern people need to be taught to love the species they're a part of again. That mistakes does not condemn a group that has been following animalistic impulses since the dawn of time and will continue doing so.
Flip, why did you have to add that stuffed rabbit? It made this 10 times sadder ;-; Maybe I'm just in a poetic mood but I really felt that strong metaphor to the good memories being left behind to be destroyed.

It took me a few times but I started tearing up at the end too.
Either way we'd be in space or extinct :(
Just realizing now that the only point to this comment is me fanboying over how the earth wins in a fight against humans.
I didn't get smugness from him. More like "Yes, it worked. Now let's see what's out there".
@@corpsewytchdannii it probably is that one. They can see what is out there, maybe set up a new home elsewhere and talk with alien peoples.
@@corpsewytchdannii Late, but yeah. Especially since the video, I believe, insinuates he lost his family too
@@tol9090 Indeed. This, and Army of Tigers, showcase just how fucking suicidally stupid we are as a species and we in the US are as a culture. Rather than take responsibility for our actions and our ancestors' actions and make things right, we either go somewhere else to ignore our problems only to repeat them in a new location, or blame the things that help us survive and destroy them & thus hasten our own destruction as a result.
the video looks absolutely stunning Jonathan. It really sells the song. The entire album is wonderful!
its even more impressive when the animator does mostly holo live animations
@@Fiskarsson hold up, you're telling me that the video ITSELF is original content too? I thought it was just some Anime i'd never heard of....... I have no words
I dunno, I think the video sabotages the core premise of the song.
In the song, humanity is running from certain death, and into the unknown. ("undiscovered system far from here" and "where ever the wind may take us" ), they don't even know if the ship will work ("if the wind takes our sails") or if they themselves can survive the journey ("if we live to tell the tale")
The video clearly shows the ship working as expected, and they have a place to run to, and not just to run from. Once they've lifted off, it turns from a desperate race for survival and search for a new home to more or less a bus ride.
@@littlegrabbiZZ9PZA the ship may be working but they have no way of knowing if it will make the journey or not, or if the place they're going to is still going to be around by the time they get there

"Kid drops their favorite toy during an escape sequence and they cry" never fails to make ME cry. Great job, this is fantastic!
I cheer myself up by imagining someone on the ship makes her a new toy.
Really? For me its just good enough to know that she didnt die
Yes video, zoom in on the abandoned bunny so I cry more. 😭😭😭

This song gives me big environmentalist/space enthusiast feelings, just listening to the song on the album made me cry. This video gives me goosebumps.
It's our Future, in all it's sorrow.. and Majesty. Potential and tears both twined..
This song hits so much harder with the animation. Great job, Jonathan, and great job to the animator.
I would have 86 years if this mess happens
I read it. I want to do what I can to support your hypothetical son. I don't know what this means, but we can all do something, as small as that may be.
Funnily enough that is the year that i turn 100. Maybe finishing that draft on a nuclear thermal engine prototype would be a good idea.
(like the dinosaurs meteor with change the air composition and obscured too heavily the sky)
And going into the space is that big of a challenge that i doubt if it would happen that we will do it in a century
You raised a good hypothetical kid.

What are your other top two?

I would love to watch an anime like that, and it would have to be made by japanese, because i simply can't see our western animation industry managing to make it good, which is kinds sad.
@@LoboalphaMASTER true also I hope Japan doesn’t go corrupt woke and start putting blatant political massages in places it doesn’t belong I get that politics might make certain media more interesting like say gate but things like fairy tail have no place for real world politics because the anime focuses on the modern magical society themes and family themes and just wants to tell a intriguing stories it’s just escapism in the end maybe with a bit of a moral at the end but it’s not trying to tackle real world problems but studio’s in the west well they aren’t using they’re franchises correctly because they want to send a message but are being lazy about it and pretending to care about things that they frankly have no Business talking about nor really care about sure there might a few groups within the company that cares about these things but for most it’s just a job it’s just a way to earn money and if “talking” about problems like say racism will make them more money then they make a quick goggle search and grab the first result that seems official and copy and paste everything and send it to the writer and say find a way to put this somewhere kinda like those cringe worthy Zelda raps if kids find rapping cool they will love a half as*ed rap about Zelda and now chair activism is cool with the kids so kids will love link talking about the dangers of being a homophobic or peewee herman talking about crack

Clear domed, broad hulled and clean
Where the air shown blue, through whose holds birds flew

All ships, all men, are of one kin
We shall not forget the Ship of Stone” - Leslie Fish, Ship of Stone

Daaaaaaamn, I didn't realize this song was about the end of the world until watching this extremely powerful music video that goes with it.

A little sorrow makes the heart beat stronger
Out of the entire Starship Velociraptor album, this song sticks out to memory the most, and what a choice it was for the final song. This one gives me chills. ❤️
Although I am from Russia, I know English well. The song itself touched the strings in my soul, both from the composition itself and from the video. Ladies and gentlemen - take care of the Earth. We still have to live on it and live up to the technologies that are shown in the clip.
Same thing, but from Argentina.

Johnathan Young is leading us to a new frontier with his music
This song is why Galactikraken really came back in time. For them, this is history, but for us, it's a warning.
And if we aren't careful it will become our future.

This song has the best lyrics on the entire album.
One of the best lirics ever written even
Didnt think this song could get better, turns out if you add animation to it, it becomes BETTER
Animation can do a great job at adding context to telling a story instead of just words.
This makes me feel like I’m the protagonist in an 80’s video game. And that’s the king of energy I need for 2021. Loving these originals!
same energy for 2022 lets go full DOOMGUY on these fools lmao

Woah that’s wild it’s THE CrazyErzy
The lyrics are really fantastic. I really hope that the mighty algorithm picks this song up, because many needs to hear it!
I love how this music both implies how horrible we can be yet sings in the glory of mankind in a way
The legacy of the human race, we caused the problems, and we tried to fix them, when we failed, we didn’t give up, we just kept fighting, humans can be horrible, but we dont give in.
@@no3ironman11100 well said Aizen, you always were a genius Soul Reaper.
