If you think this wallet is complex, have a look at how you go about a similar cold storage solution using the Electrum Bitcoin wallet. (and this only works for Bitcoin!) docs.electrum.org/en/latest/coldstorage.html
Great job, Rex. I thought about buying one prior to your demonstration but now I realize that this is too labor intensive for me to realistically use. Thanks
Using the QR code on the Ellipal Cold Wallet itself for your wallet address makes it more streamlined then using an email and cut and pasting. Scanning QR code is simple and fast!! I can send XRP from Coinbase Wallet to the Ellipal Cold Wallet in seconds.
Thanks Rex, the best review on the Ellipal, you have really helped me figure mine out. I didn't buy the Ohlopal, no Alpole,🤣 no make that the Ellipal for safely storing my crypto as safe as possible and not to use it on a daily basis.
Users remember to set up another wallet on your app (which will be 'hot'). That way spending can be used from the newly created 'hot' wallet separated from your 'cold' wallet. Five cold wallets can be created with up to 10 'hot' wallet on the device so now family/friends can use the device w/ their own pwd.
Great Review.... Thanks Rex. It was really helpful. Forget, doing it the old way (i.e. electrum.org -its not user friendly, it's time consuming & it's cheaper than another cheap computer at $170 +) and how can you do it, on the go or outside your place. Packaging is important::: -It will shows us, that it has not been tampered with and it's usually better (or recommended), to buy it directly from the original website or seller (i.e.: avoid any, third party purchases -like Amazon or ebay). Note: On any new cold storage device -Always, transfer a small amount of Crypto's and wait a few weeks, until you transfer more amounts....
Confusing. Ellipal site shows the transfer to the wallet using QR codes. There's also a micro SD card mentioned, although they don't show how to crack open the wallet to insert the card. Question: how did you transfer the BTC from the email to the wallet? The wallet has no WiFi nor internet connectivity.
Are we supposed to have a hot wallet we control and use that to send BTC to the cold wallet ? I don’t see any way to generate new BTC receive addresses with the ELLIPAL.
I tried to send XRP from my mobile Ellipal wallet to the Ellipal cold wallet. I clicked "receive" on the XRP coin on the Ellipal cold wallet and it produced a QR code that showed "receive". I then clicked on XRP on my mobile, the amount, etc., and "send". I activated the scanner and put it over the cold wallet QR code. It picked it up. When I clicked "submit" on the mobile, it then popped a message that said "you can't send to the same address". WTF? I've emailed Ellipal support on this. The instructions on their web site are a joke. They show a couple of images with arrows and no details at all on what's going on. I love the wallet concept. But they need to develop clear, concise, detailed step by step instructions. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong? Thanks.
Hello Doc, hope I can shine some light. The Ellipal hardware device only stores keys and is used when you withdraw from the wallet. The Ellipal App, as long as you can see your amount of coins in the app, then your coins are safe, we are not able to see any totals or numbers of assets on the hardware device itself. Only when we withdraw from the App, it is then that we use the Ellipal hardware device. Hope this helps some.
Great Tutorial Rex, I was kinda a bit confused about this hardware wallet but I think you cleared that up for me and others too, needless to say easy like and sub from me.
Did you know you can scan the QR codes to get the wallet addresses too? No need to email them. You completely ignored their QR codes! But you scanned the transaction QR codes...
Think of your phone as a screen to view what is in your cold wallet. You can receive crypto using your phone. But you need the Ellipal Cold Wallet to send it to another wallet. So it is not on your phone. It is stored on the Cold Wallet.
Thanks for a great and honest review! Question I have about this wallet is about disaster management. My Ellipal drops into the toilet, the company goes belly up and all I am left with is my 12 mnemonic key words. Can I use them with another wallet to get access to private keys/funds again? Ledger uses 24 key words, so doubt that will work. As you have both (and possibly other devices) there, would you be able to test if that works? I am just so afraid that me being over-cautious leaves me with nothing at all :)
Hi, you can recover that 12 words anywhere that accepts 12 words such as the Trezor. Similarly, other wallets can be backed up on Ellipal too. All word lengths accepted.
Is this really air gapped? Could be compromised from the start, in order to connect the wallet you first have to import keys or a mnemonic, and then you scan the QR code to your phone. They aren’t open source. Thoughts?
It is 100% air gapped, its only outlet is the LCD screen which shows the QR code. Even though it is compromised, it cannot be controlled remotely or any data can be stolen.
It's really easy, there's a video of the whole process on ellipal's website. Just unzip to fat32 mSD card, put in ellipal, turn on, select update, wait until done.
I have been reading in ELLIPAL and they are a sketchy Hong Kong company. Should j be scared I have a out of a coin on it and don’t want to get ripped off from China when this bull run happens if they are. Thoughts?
Hey Rex. Any potential problems if cell phone becomes compromised? I'm always paranoid using the phone for such things. Just wondering as I'll probably stick with the Nano. This makes Nano look more simple than it already does.
For us both phone and PC can be compromised. However this does not matter to the Ellipal as it does not have any physical connection with the phone itself. The Ellipal is airgapped hence it is alot more secure. The phone is just there so its easier for those who does not like to use PC all the time.
Hey sir i bought mine from amazon and it was sealed but had no plastic on it. Can there be a way they could steal coins? When you create a wallet its a separate seed and qr code right?
QR code only contains transaction information. If someone wants to steal your coin, they had to know your Ellipal password, your phone password and lastly, have both your phone and Ellipal to do the QR code scanning.
You Ellipal device hold the private keys. Your app allows you to view your balance. You crypto is stored on the blockchain. You Ellipal device is not designed to show your balance, that is what the app is for.
Hey! Why dont you use an app like Google Keep.It will sync your text accross all your devices where you have installed Google Keep. This will save your time of emailing the addresses to yourself.
You explain things very well, but it’s still like trying to understand a foreign language from someone who already speaks that language. I’ve been trying for a month to buy XRP as the price keeps creeping up, I’m no closer to understanding how to make it happen than I was a month ago. Talk about frustrating!!!!!
Nicely done. Yet another wallet too complicated for mass adoption. I wonder what exchange they will be using for swaps and did they figure how it will be accepted for the US market. Still like my Trezor and Ledger because of familiarity. Next Friday. Alohas.
Hello @Cryptodad, thanks for your video! I have been using this wallet almost 2 years with success, but now I need some support from them and I’m currently facing some response delays. Would you have their support email official address? Thank you
Love your videos Rex! keep up the good work! you should check out Uptrennd is you haven't already! they pay you for content and your videos would create alot of attention! would be great to see your videos on there as i prefer to use that now.
I guess the thing I don't like about it is the use of the Smart Phone. I'd rather be using my laptop and I have made a personal decision to NOT use Smart Phones for these types of financial transactions. And the storing/order of the Key words on screen not matching the paper display strikes me as sloppy work. As a former systems analyst I would have had my ass handed to me if I had approved something like that!!
sarasotarepub1 Good point, my left to right, top to bottom method seemed to be the correct order, so perhaps the company will watch my video and make adjustments. I did send them a link to the video.
Wow, I just set up and updated mine. If you can't do it, you'd have trouble setting up a cellphone. It's close to being as easy as it gets for cold storage. No hiccups, easy to use. Rex did you see the binance DEX integration? You can directly trade the coins in your cold wallet... Only 5 available right now, all bnb pairs, but still Hella cool! New supported coins include bnb. So far, everything is as good, if not better than nano, and more feature-rich. You guys really need to reconsider... They've been updating regularly, update was easy, seems like they're pushing at adding features. I also have a nano x, you still need to confirm on device, ellipal really isn't more of a hindrance when sending. At this point, the only thing I'd like would be coinjoin integration...

Sorry for my second question, but would you know if they had some version update for this wallet version? Thank you
Great tutorial. Thank you ☺️

Question: how did you transfer the BTC from the email to the wallet? The wallet has no WiFi nor internet connectivity.
How can you exchange your coin into another one if that list (exch) is not present.in the app or hard wallet yet ? .
Hello, with the current update to Ellipal 2.1 for Device and 2.1.1 for app, we can now perform internal exchanges and also access the Binance Dex.
excepts all erc 20 tokens, but it wont let me add my ZIL, why?
Are we supposed to have a hot wallet we control and use that to send BTC to the cold wallet ? I don’t see any way to generate new BTC receive addresses with the ELLIPAL.
Thanks for the detailed interview
Love your content. Can you connect Ellipal to Metamask? If so, how do you do it?
Hi Rex.... can we Stake ADA on any cold wallet . Thanks
Your thought on putting the device in a safe for a few years..killing the battery.....
Best Tutorial Thanks For All !!!
B IG D A D DY you are the best

Great video Rex! Thanks!

Rex Kneisley I just ordered my titan. With the Wuhan virus I hope I will get it in the near future
looks very good and secure

@@zerpacific50 Thanks, Kurt. Appreciate the reply.
Do you still use Ellipal? Do you like the ledger or ellipal?
Great Tutorial Rex, I was kinda a bit confused about this hardware wallet but I think you cleared that up for me and others too, needless to say easy like and sub from me.
Greetings, do you have a video on receiving Spark Tokens on the Ellipal Cold wallet?
I would like to see a new ledger in this price bracket with a similar screen and plenty of storage .
Ledger is having as %30 sale which includes the Ledger Blue. Cheaper than usual but still pricey
Buy a Ledger Here: www.ledgerwallet.com/r/6057
So what if for some reason you lost the ellipal? how would you recover your tokens?
Great stream as always rex keep up the awesome work:):):)
Did you know you can scan the QR codes to get the wallet addresses too? No need to email them. You completely ignored their QR codes! But you scanned the transaction QR codes...
Honestly, this wallet is what I was expecting the ledger blue to be... Instead, it was just a nano S with a bigger screen
Which you like the most: Ledger Nano X or Ellipal Titan Wallet
I prefer the Ledger Nano X. More convenient
When the currency is in the ellipal wallet on your Mobil app does that mean it's in your cold storage wallet?
Think of your phone as a screen to view what is in your cold wallet. You can receive crypto using your phone. But you need the Ellipal Cold Wallet to send it to another wallet. So it is not on your phone. It is stored on the Cold Wallet.
Can you make a video of setting up monero wallet on ledger nano s ASAP on the update which came recently . thanks

Thx man. Great review. can you do another one about their firmware update with the SD card?
It's really easy, there's a video of the whole process on ellipal's website. Just unzip to fat32 mSD card, put in ellipal, turn on, select update, wait until done.

cant get funds from ellipal app to cold wallet driving me crazy😢
You Ellipal device hold the private keys. Your app allows you to view your balance. You crypto is stored on the blockchain. You Ellipal device is not designed to show your balance, that is what the app is for.
That $18 is $82 today. Do you use that wallet? I'm in the market.

Just half way through your video but I want you to show me how to send xrp from my phone to my Ellipal
could not see the screen properly. need to zoom in a bit. video kept refocusing on different areas.
What's the best exchange to turn US dollars into BTC?

ask them to give a new seat at the same time.. :o)
Whos the ceo for this wallet
I wish to ellapall would stake eca and Icx 😔
Hello @Cryptodad, thanks for your video! I have been using this wallet almost 2 years with success, but now I need some support from them and I’m currently facing some response delays. Would you have their support email official address? Thank you
This wallet is too expensive, the better one for way less is KeepKey or even BitFi wallet, but still good and secure.
Love your videos Rex! keep up the good work! you should check out Uptrennd is you haven't already! they pay you for content and your videos would create alot of attention! would be great to see your videos on there as i prefer to use that now.
By using SWIFT discount code to get 30% off.
Yikes!!! No way would I buy one of those. I'll stick with my Nano S.
Yes a bit complicated to use, but as air-gapped cold storage wallets go, relatively easy to use. :-)

@sarasotarepub1 no sensitive info is transfered to the phone besides transaction amount... That's the whole point of an airgap
I'll stick to my ledger nano s.
